There was a girl at one of the conventions this past summer who did Chichi that was pretty incredible.

I also remember seeing a Taopaipai that could've passed as a direct live-action version of the character.

What pisses me off is that so many Dragonball Cosplayers don't try to do the more practical characters. More need to follow Lovely Cyborgs lead - she is excellent.

I think Quantum or her sister did once, but they're the only ones I've seen do that.
I don't know about Chi-Chi but Quantum's done a really good Videl.
Unless you mean just the costume.
Mmmm, metal bikini.

I say Zangya FTW! Jersey's planning on doing a Zangya cosplay. I think she was going to do it at the con she goes to in November but it's apparently been 'put on hold' this year so... I don't know.

Of course I mean the costume. Sexual attratction to little girls=creepy. Sexual attraction to cartoon characters=creepy. Sexual attraction to cartoon little girls=2x creepy.

Ha ha. That's funny Desire. XD

Though I still say her best one is when here and her sister did the "Disco Version" Goku and Chi-Chi".

... I like animation more than liveaction often.
... Forget how creepy that sounds in context.
... Of course, I'm weird.

Agreed. Last I checked, cartoon characters were designed to look human. Anything that has a human form can be attractive. Drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc. There's really nothing different between finding a cartoon character attractive and finding a person you've only seen pictures of attractive. :P

I hate it when fans get pissed of when people call it zee instead of zed.
I finally bought a gamecube. To bad they don't make any games for it now.

To expand on that point, I don't see how having a crush on a pop star for example is any more unrealistic and weird than a cartton character. One is no more attainable than the other. :P

I've never really ran into that issue. The first time I saw anything about it was yesterday. Other than that, the only variations I have in pronouncing it are to call the show by the name the person is used to depending on the country they're from (i.e. "Dragonball Z" amongst Americans and 「ドラゴンボールZ」 amongst Japanese people).

I hate it when people bash fans who like the season sets and say they aren't "true fans."

I'm not sure if this was brought up or not but these about a dozen pages and I'm not reading thru all of them.

I really dislike it when Dragonball fans, or fans of any franchise for that matter, have a lack of imagination when it comes to the material showing in in other forms or mediums.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Live Action movie and all the "it can't be done" talk that comes with it even years before it was officially greenlit. Just the fact the anyone can claim that a movie can't be made of a cartoon with pretty straight forward storytelling just hurts my head badly. Especially when they don't have any defence of their stand that's more than: "But it's Dragonball Z" or "But the hair won't be right."

The other lack of imagination that comes to mind is due more to the structure of the series (and it's lack of proper balancing) than the fans themselves is when it come to the characters interacting (fighting) other characters from series such as other manga/anime and comic books. I love Dragonball to death but I know that there's no way Goku can take Superman.

Why do the fans hate the fact that the live action movie is being made?

Simply, because it just isn't Dragonball. Piccolo is a human, instead of a demonic anthro slug. Mai is now Piccolo's lackey instead of Pilaf's. Goku and Chi-Chi apparently have a sex scene. (If you remember, there was very little kissing even in the manga and shows.) Goku is an emo high school student. There's no Krillin.

Its the ultimate gangraping, in my opinion. Absolutely pathetic.

I'm not particularly thrilled with the movie either, but most of that seems to be fan assumption. Like has it actually been said Goku is "emo"? Wrist slitting and everything? :/

Not that I want to start this huge thing, but it seems funny how people are spreading unconfirmed details as fact.

This is just what I'm getting from the casting sides that were released. Goku is an unpopular high school student, which makes no sense, because Goku never went to school in the series.

About the sex scene, in the casting sides, it says something along the lines of "Goku and Chi-Chi's mutual attraction heats up at the tournament" or something like that, thus, in my eyes, implying that theres a sex scene there, which, as I said, would definitely be a major malfunction, what with the lack of a lot of displays of affection in the entire series, including GT.

And the Piccolo thing states that he is a part of a race of humanoid ninjas who were supposed to work with the Saiyans to take over the universe.

One: The Namekians were a peaceful race, aside from Piccolo Sr. and Slug.
Two: Goku never found out about his Saiyan heritage until the start of Z, and that wasn't from Piccolo at all. It was revealed by Raditz.
Three: THEY'RE F*CKING ANTHRO SLUGS! NOT HUMAN NINJAS!

Just so many things wrong with this movie... Thats why the majority of fans hate it already.

Other problems with it?

One: It'll be a box office success, and people who have no idea about the "true" Dragonball series will love it. The same people who made fun of DB and it's fans, no less.
Two: It'll bring about a huge influx of manga and anime based movies, much like Spider-Man did for comic book movies.

See, you did what I was fearng :/ You went on this huge rant when I asked technically one question. And from the looks of it, you just GUESSED at what you were bitching over. While I have no love for the movie, it's annoying how people opposed to it are making wild assumptions, treating them as fact, and bitching when we really barely know anything. It's exactly why the old thread was closed and why this one will be too unless we drop the subject. :/
