Aside from a tiny scene arrangement, this was essentially just the mostly filler-less DBZ 61 with the very end of DBZ 60 tacked onto the beginning due to a bit of scene shortening here and there.

Though the new Ginyu intro was AWESOME.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

I think the only new voice I'm not quite sold on yet is the Captain himself. It's a total one-eighty from that more mature sounding voice his original actor brought...

Granted, he spoke more or less one word. I'd wait until next week to judge.

Yay!! New insert song!!

A couple Japanese websites have confirmed that this is in fact the same song that will be on the upcoming DragonBall Kai Song Collection album (October 21, 2009). The songs title is "Take the Stage!! Ginyu Special-Squad!!" (参上!! ギニュー特戦隊!!), which was composed, arranged, and sung by Yamazaki You (pronounced YO!), while the lyrics were written by Yamada Hiroshi. Yamazaki You is also going to be providing vocals for "Win Tough Fight!" on the same album, which I'm really looking forward to. But this song gives me a lot more hope for the whole album in general. :D

Gurd sounds like he's voiced by Frank Oz.

Wow, that was absolutely amazing. I couldn't stop grinning and giggling the whole time. It makes Freeza's reaction even more priceless.

Where we get generic Kikuchi music in Z, this Kai scene shines by going back to their roots as a Sentai parody. So much better!
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
There's no such thing as generic Kikuchi music. Admittedly, it's nice to have this insert song, but let's not throw mud on the perfectly fine piece used in DBZ in this scene.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Excuuuuuse me princess! I merely meant they got recycled music, hence generic. I mean, if I had a quarter for every time they used that piece, I'd be stinking rich. I consider the Faulconer music just as generic (in fact I think they recycle more) and prefer the Kikuchi score.
