Interviews where Toriyama talk about character speed/power
I found one by "Super Otaku Magazine" but its apparently fake. It had Toriyama mention them being light speed. I also read that these fake interviews used questions from real interviews. Are there any real interviews where Toryiama answers questions regarding character speed/destructive power? Or mentions things like this off hand?

The Super Otaku interview is 100% fake. There was another fake Q&A, posted on Pojo I think, that had real interview questions mixed in with fake ones, but I think that was the only fake to ever be so clever. Anyway, I don't believe Toriyama's ever said anything particularly meaningful about power/speed.

Like Hermes said, he's never really said anything particularly meaningful about it. If you're looking for stuff like whether or not characters can move at the speed of light or if character A is stronger than character B, (the stuff that was in the fake interview) then it strikes me as something he probably wouldn't mention. If I'm remembering correctly, he's said a few things about strength in general. In one guidebook (I can't remember for the love of me what it was, so maybe someone could help me out here?) I remember he mentioned something about his thought processes behind things like how characters compared to one another power-wise, and in one of the Daizenshuu interviews (I think; don't hold me to it if I'm wrong. ^^;) he mentioned how training for ki was better than training the body, because even though your body has limits, ki doesn't.Nex Carnifex wrote:I found one by "Super Otaku Magazine" but its apparently fake. I hope it helps a little, but I doubt it's quite what you're looking for.

I'd like to know his thought process behind how character's compare.Kiyza wrote:Like Hermes said, he's never really said anything particularly meaningful about it. I think this one that you are talking about: http://www.pojo.com/dragonball/intervie ... yama.shtmlHerms wrote:The Super Otaku interview is 100% fake. I seen people on IMDB and lounge.moviecodec.com use this as some type of proof in debates.

The "your body has limits, ki doesn't" thing is from the Super Exciting Guide: Story Volume. I believe the other thing you're thinking of is in one of the Extreme Battle Collection books, where Toriyama says that his thoughts on how the characters compared in strength would change as he wrote the story. It's something like that anyway. I had a translation of the interview on Kanzentai, but it doesn't seem to have been transferred over yet, and I don't have access to the book myself.Kiyza wrote:If I'm remembering correctly, he's said a few things about strength in general. Where was it that he mentioned thinking that fifty-fold Super Sayain power-up with ridiculous, and that in hindsight he wrote it as if it were ten?

It's from one of the Super Exciting Guides. What he says is a bit open to interpretation, but I think it's something along the lines of: "It was made out that Super Saiyan was a x50 increase, but that's hard to picture. When I drew it, I had the sense of him being ten times what he had been up until then." In other words, I think he understands that a x10 increase wouldn't make sense, but that's how he pictured it while drawing the chapters.BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:Where was it that he mentioned thinking that fifty-fold Super Sayain power-up with ridiculous, and that in hindsight he wrote it as if it were ten?
