CRAP! I have a really good screencap of it, but it's on my old laptop, which is nearly impossible to do anything with -_- I still have thousands of files I've yet to transfer.
I'll see if I can get something. If someone beats me to the punch, more power to 'em.

You guys DO know that the finger doesn't mean anything in Japan right?
Just making sure. It can be used for anything.
Example, in this shot from TM! OVA Washu is giving the bird after just explaining why her invention is "so perfect!"
I imagine in that context it was used as a victory symbol.

Since america raped japan with those A-bombs and occupied it, japanese have used all of the hand signs americans do. Mainly the two finger peace sign..bkev wrote:You guys DO know that the finger doesn't mean anything in Japan right?

Wow - this took a quick and unexpected turn.
How about we go back to talking about cartoons and hand signals, eh?
The two-finger-V is the 'V for Victory' made popular in America during WWII, and thus became popular with post-war Japan.

You learn something new everyday, thanks man. I always thought the two finger sign for victory was a Japanese thing.desirecampbell wrote:Wow - this took a quick and unexpected turn.

Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

And I hate how the hippies spewed their vile peace all over it and turned the Victory V into the "Peace Sign".NeptuneKai wrote:You learn something new everyday, thanks man. It kind of is, now. I've never heard of anyone outside of Japan and western cultures use it - and western cultures always use it as a "peace sign" (unless there's a historical context where it should mean 'victory' like in a war-era movie).NeptuneKai wrote:You learn something new everyday, thanks man. From what I've seen, the middle finger in the Japanese context definitely isn't as offensive as it is in America. It seems to often be used when a character is feeling cocky, and just wants to say, "LOL, I pwnz j00". Though there are times in Dragonball when it seems to be used in the "fuck you" sort of sense, like the manga pic where multiple characters are flipping off Cell.
