Dragon Ball: The Complete Illustrations. *Updated With Pics*

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Fri Aug 08, 2008 8:38 pm

So I got an E-mail today saying...
Hello from Amazon.com.

The item(s) listed below will actually
ship sooner than we originally expected:

Akira Toriyama (Illustrator) "Dragon Ball: The Complete Illustrations" [Paperback]
I thought that was pretty cool, then I got this...
Greetings from Amazon.com.

We thought you'd like to know that we shipped your items, and that this
completes your order.
Horray! Expect a dissection from Tanooki right here somtime this week (Perhaps even as early as this weekend?) Eh, I can hope.

Has anyone else pre-orderd this?

Damn! I'd love a very thorough dissection of the guide.

I thought about buying it, but I didn't really see the point since it is just an illustration guide. I hope you get it sooner than later.

I'll buy this with student loan money.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I can't wait to hear your review, thank you for pre-ordering this! I'm sure the translations will be fairly accurate, VIZ has been pretty good when it comes to that. What I'm most interested in is whether or not the book will include any information on any possible translations of any of the other Daizenshuu, and whether or not they will censor any of the pictures...particularly th Kame-sennin ones.

Mayhaps I'll get this... I wonder how they'll muck it up. :?

So if they're shipping it out this early, will it be in stores early as well? I'll keep an eye out for it in Boarders.

If it shows up at Borders early, I may have to go thumb through it.

Isn't this supposed to come out on the 19th ? How are you getting it so early ? (Excuse my ignorance) :?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I should even buy this book. From what I understand, it is only pictures right?
Secondly, should I get these over the original Daizenshuu #1?

Just wait for the review to see what's up.

There's a paragraph-long intoduction by Toriyama, a 10 or so page long index of all the images in the book that tells where they originated from and other details about them, and a six page interview with Toriyama ([shameless]all of which we've translated at Kanzentain, just click the top link in my signature[/shameless]). Also, a few of the images have words in them, like the short comics or the Kame-sennin photogalley. Before deciding what to get, I'd wait until it comes out so we can see how it compares to the original Daizenshuu 1.

Well I HAVE solved a few mysteries, but none of them involved :no shit". :P But seriously, I know where you're comin' from. Viz doesn't give the BEST translations. But I guess if you like the words "Center Fold Jutsu" and "Lord Of Worlds", then it's all the more crappier(that's an actual word).

Alrighty! I already own daizenshuu , but if this is a good translation and not edited up, then I'll totally go for it just to support them bringing this out.

A few pictures with characters flipping people off and some 'polaroids' taken by Muten Roshi are the first things that come to mind.

Then I guess we'll be seeing bald up fists and blank photos that Roshi took. :x
