Ultra Instinct is a state that can activate when there is a great danger to life. It was first used by Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga, when he used it to catch Krillin after the latter inadvertently foiled his attempt to take over the planet Earth ultra-instinct. In that instance, Vegeta fought against a couple of elite Saiyan warriors who had sent to eliminate him. When he sensed their presence, he immediately used Ultra Instinct and easily defeated them. Vegeta has used it several times after that. In the Androids Saga, he used it to fight Android 17 and save his own life.
