Re: Least favourite performances in your dub

I'm surprised they never tried to do a country hick accent for Goku considering that's basically what his original character is, guess they figured that would get old pretty fast(especially judging by all the criticism's 13's dub redneck voice got). I think it's fairly clear they never cared about ...

There's definitely no difference in pitch with the tracks. Can clarify that I own both Z and Kai DVDs.

Re: Are There Any Updates On The Harmony Gold Dub Of Dragon Ball?

There could be an alternate timeline where Funimation kept Zero and it wasn't revealed until later that his alien name was Goku and he ends up sticking with that  Well, Funi's initial dub of DB movie 1 in 1995 with the Vancouver cast kept the Harmony Gold names (as well as a few other name cha...

Whoa, been a while since I've seen a banning around here. That really takes me back.
Who knew a question about underwear could stir so much trouble? You'd think Bulma's panties are the answer to world peace or something.

Re: Least favourite performances in your dub

Funimation for me. That being said, there's definitely some off voices in the older dubs. -Dameon Clarke as Bora. Sounds really forced and feels like he's trying too hard to do a voice that's out of his range. He doesn't get a whole lot of screen time, though. -Sean Schemmel as Goku from Episode 68 ...

New anime could still happen at some point. We had to wait three years between the Cell and Buu arcs of Kai, and even longer between GT and Kai. It'll happen eventually.

Re: Vic Mignogna

Damn, I wish someone (who wasn't a dysfunctional nut like me) could do a campaign of awareness against conventions that are unsafe. This is just ridiculous. Either Monica and Jamie will say "hell no we won't go" until KC gives in and disinvites Vic, or if they don't do that, they might show up to c...

Re: How did you feel the first time you saw Bulma's panties in Dragon Ball?

I was 16 and relatively new to anime, but I had already seen way worse in even PG-13 rated movies. This was before I got desensitized to seeing them in every other anime. I'd say the No Balls scene was really surprising to see, though.

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!

Anyone know which track is used in the Kikuchi version of Episode 19 of Kai when Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan land on Namek? Unlike most of the music, I think it was only used in this scene.

Re: FUNimation's Big Green Moment XD!

Yeah, the Buu arc is sort of a middle ground. While most definitely improved, and a lot of the newer VAs were good, the difference between this and The Final Chapters is like night and day, even with the same cast.

Re: Other series like DBZ Kai?

Sailor Moon Crystal sounds like it's what Kai kinda wanted to be, but Toei were too cheap to actually do it right. Eh, circumstances aren't really the same though. The Dragon Ball anime is mostly faithful to the manga but adds a bunch of padding and filler and so on. The old Sailor Moon anime would...

Re: Do you like Kikuchi Kai?

Eh, I actually saw Kikuchi Kai before Kikuchi Z, but I still ended up preferring the latter. I don't mind the placement being different, it's mostly just a bummer that they didn't use more tracks, and that you've heard almost the entire music bank within the first 10 episodes. That being said, that ...

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

In the Saban days, at the very least, the actors DEFINITELY heard the original Japanese to reference for delivery, emotion, etc. Funi's in-house actors definitely didn't hear the Japanese side until they were working on Budokai 1, but the Vancouver actors heard the original. And generally, the way ...

For any GT fans here, he was also Sugoro, the guy who ran that Sugoroku Space game, as well as Lord Yao from A Hero's Legacy.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think any other Funi VAs have passed, yet.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Brad Jackson always seems to be on and off when it comes to availability. Despite having voiced the character in the dub of Sleeping Princess in Devil’s Castle , he wasn’t around for Season 3, but after that, he consistently voiced the character in every medium right up until Kai came around, then ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Some interesting notes about the voice cast in case anyone is wondering. -Daman Mills is Frieza in this, not Chris Ayres, despite the latter finishing his work on Super. Chris's condition is very on-off these days, I think. -Bryan Massey is Oolong again, much like in the final arc of Super. I guess ...

Re: Yet Another Dub Error

The different music placement is mostly the placement originally intended by the Faulconer crew. Episode 70 seems to be the one exception. Who knows what happened there? Still, aside from that, how much is really different? I haven't seen the original. What's odd about the voice filters is that not ...

Re: Buu Saga Filler?

IIRC the main difference between the Japanese and international Boo Kai is that several filler-only episodes were cut from the beginning for Japan? Some other trims and changes were made too, I think. And they used different OPs/EDs. That does provide one part of the answer; at least a few of the e...
