Well, yeah, it definitely helps. Like... a lot.
That's the thing about Marvel/DC movie adaptations, because when you look at all of the comic books they're based on, the art style, throughout all of them, is based in reality. People are drawn to look like real people, and superheroes are drawn to ...

Far from perfect, but otherwise an interesting take on the material.

Re: Dragon Ball Z: The Fall of Men
Yes, if you make it exactly the same with the exact same proportions as it does in the manga. That's where the adaptation part comes in and you dial it back enough to a more believable appearances.
Unfortunately, that's where a lot of people's disconnect would come from. I mean, I get it to a ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: The Fall of Men
I can buy a guy in an American flag costume, I can't buy anything resembling a live action Nappa with the exact same armor as in the show or a live action Vegeta with the proper hair. DB is too weird to just get a straight up adaptation for live action.

Re: Dragon Ball Z: The Fall of Men
If Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and Flash as well as the numerous live action genre films and tv shows can work, so can DB.
That's how I look at it as well. A live action Dragon Ball could definitely work, but it would take a lot of care being put into it, and for it to really feel ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: The Fall of Men
After thinking about it, Fall of Men does have some lighter moments throughout in my opinion. The proper narrative starts with Trunks sharing a moment with his mother. He greets Upa and his wife with an act of kindness in the form of a senzu, showing that even in the worst of times he still has a ...

Re: Dragon Ball Cinematic Universe, my thoughts
To be honest, I've always wanted to do this as well, but characters like Oolong, Shu, Pilaf, etc. make me feel like the movies just wouldn't work. I don't know, it just seems weird to have a talking pig along side normal human characters. I hope that doesn't discourage you, those are just my two ...

I appreciate the feedback TheDevilscorpse, I'll try to address/clarify as much as I can.

Re: Dragon Ball Cinematic Universe, my thoughts
That question could be applied to almost every movie that comes out. And there are so many factors that could play into a films success. Budget, advertising, word of mouth, the talent attached to the film, etc.
Under the right circumstances, yes I think a Dragon Ball film could do well. But it's ...

Dragon Ball Cinematic Universe, my thoughts
I've long thought about how to make Dragon Ball work on the big screen. And after seeing the success of Marvel's cinematic universe and other studios trying to do the same, I started thinking about how Dragon Ball could be expanded. A series of films that not only adapt the core story of the manga ...

Re: If Launch was still around, what would you have her do?
Bring her along to Namek. Sending a violent thief to a world of peaceful people with little worth stealing and her dealing with that. Gives Bulma someone to play off of when they get ditched. Maybe her violent nature catches the attention of some low level Freeza soldiers and she manages to ...

Jackie Chun retired, not Roshi. Why else would Roshi bother with King Piccolo if he was to leave it to the next generation?
