Re: When are you guys going to watch Broly?

I am both shocked and incredibly thrilled that not only is my local cinema playing the film but that it is playing it subtitled (in fact it's only playing the movie subbed which is crazy), when i had heard that the American screenings were not going to be in Japanese w/subs I had given up all hope o...

Re: Would you like for the new HD Remasters of the Movies & Tv Series to be Multi language?

Meh, don't really need it as I am confident these releases will be licensed by international distributors anyway, and if MangaUK get this from Funimation I look forward to supporting them (as I'm doing with Super) so they can keep putting out more Dragon Ball. Hmm, now that I think about it, didn't...

Re: How did Broly know Kakarrot's name in the first place?

A baby can't understand a single word, except if you are Jesus. Broly was strong for sure, but he was still a baby just like Kewkewrot. He wasn't more intelligent or w/e. The only time Broly could hear Goku's Saiyan name was when Vegeta came back from planet Todokama, Goku was sitting on a hallway ...

How did Broly know Kakarrot's name in the first place?

Broly is said to have been traumatised by the sound of Goku crying as a baby, and he specifically has an aversion to "Kakarrot" but how did he even know the name of the baby which was in the crib next to him? Did Paragus learn it for whatever reason and tell him about it? I know that the crying baby...

Re: Official "DB Super 2018 Movie" Discussion Thread

I actually feel ill... I mean this movie was looking so promising in all aspects except for that one "mysterious Saiyan" character looking like some Broly-esque shit but I thought okay let's just leave it to them but now it turns out that It's literally Broly himself and I cannot handle this right n...

Why did Toriyama never move to a monthly format?

Toriyama has always complained of how taxing it was to write 2 long-running weekly series, and when he wrote the Jaco manga he tried to write it in a weekly format which he also had trouble with at his age, so I wonder why he never moved to writing for a monthly magazine, Shueisha has a few in the S...

How come Devilman (1972) has higher-quality audio than DB/DBZ?

I was watching the 1972 Devilman anime by Toei and noticed that despite being made in 1972 and despite being handled by Toei Animation, the audio was of a very high quality level, the sound was very full sounding and crisp unlike the muffled audio that you get for the official releases of DB/DBZ. I'...

Have the Japanese voice actors ever visited the UK?

British fan here and after seeing some great videos of Kamehacon I'm wondering if the Japanese voice actors for the series have ever made an appearance at a UK convention? I was thinking to myself how much I would love to see Nozawa, Horikawa, Furuya, Tanaka, Furukawa and others in real life so it w...

Re: If there is a new series, what title would you suggest?

They might call it something like Dragon Ball Gold or Dragon Ball Plus (given we've had DB Minus) or even Dragon Ball X (which would be way cheesier than Super) Dragon Ball Final? If they want people to really tune in then yes, but if they aren't gonna set it past the actual end of the manga then it...

Re: 3 Main DB Canons Theory

I had basically the same thing in my signature for quite a while but I had Toei's old canon just be DB, DBZ and DBGT with no movies canon in any of the 3 other than BoG and RF in the Toriyama canon. I also did other things like put DBK in the modern Toei canon over DBZ but if I wanted to list every ...

Re: Why have a "no-killing" rule in the ToP?

I'm not just thinking in terms of like "because Jiren would kill everyone in less than a minute" I mean more like what are Toriyama and Toyotaro's reasons for keeping them alive, does it mean they want a happy ending of all the universes being restored with all their contestants still alive as to no...

Why have a "no-killing" rule in the ToP?

If their universe is going to be erased as a result of losing then they may as well just let contestants kill each other surely? I'm guessing that this no-killing rule has to be implemented so that all the other universes can be wished back at the end of this arc with no bittersweet missing dead con...

I know this might derail things but Meshack, I know you made a whole thread about why you only use English names from Japanese merchandise, but where on earth are you getting "Barduck" from? You know Episode of Bardock was written In English with "Bardock" in the logo right? Why not use that? Anyway...

Re: Does anyone else have a hard time switching back and forth between English and Japanese Dragon Ball?

Nowadays I primarily focus on the Japanese version but it's impossible to just ignore the dub, whenever I hear something from the dub of Super I'm like "oh, cool" but I don't actually watch the show in dub week-to-week, I tried to at the start but I couldn't be bothered to watch the whole show again...

Re: POLL: How do you feel about Kale and Caulifla?

They're a great pair when they play off eachother, I wish the writers for the show had done more of that, but we have yet to see how they'll play out in the manga. Caulifla is a true battle-crazy Saiyan who should have gotten more interactions with Vegeta honestly because if he thought Cabba was an ...

Re: Super Episode 118 (3 December 2017)

Now THAT is how you do a callback to Piccolo sacrificing himself for Gohan in the Saiyan arc! It was mostly subtle (when compared to the other times they've done it) and the silent cameos from God and Nail, along with the shadows of all the universe 6 Namekians were better instances of symbolism tha...

It does for me. It bothers me that the Saiyajin have completely different transformations that are nothing alike.
Does Vegeta's explanation of Bruits Waves back in the Saiyan arc not explain it enough?

Re: The original Super Saiyan revealed!

If Yamoshi became a wandering spirit then maybe that explains why Goku was talking so differently when he first became a super saiyan? Maybe it was the remnants of Yamoshi's spirit which was eventually expelled from Goku's body and his spirit was finally able to rest after Goku had gotten used to th...

Re: Hiromi Tsuru, Bulma's voice actor, has passed away.

Very shocking and sad news, the other actors she has worked with must be very torn up but still have to keep doing their job like normal, it must be heartbreaking for them, especially Ryo Horikawa who was in Ghost Sweeper Mikami with her as well as DB, and of course Masako Nozawa who has been workin...

Re: What made you switch over to the Japanese version?

I can't pinpoint the exact moment I first heard the Japanese version but it was probably some time after I finished watching DB & DBZ (probably around the time I was moving away from English dubs in general and looking up the Japanese versions of anime instead), anyway the thing that made me start t...
