I think the super attire is well designed , but it doesn't quite fit Tien's character. Having said that , it kinda makes sense they make something not as bold as Tien's pretty much a background character now.

Depressing, to me it was very heavily implied that Goku had left all of his family and friends behind forever. In my mind, as much as Goku loves fighting , he wouldn't do that.

It wasn't a deal either, Goku just went with Shenron.
Why would he go with Shen Long if it weren't a deal? He gets the time he needs to destroy the last of the Evil Dragons and then agrees to leave with the Dragon Balls to wherever Shen Long takes him. Anyway, I'm still not sure what your issue ...

It's a clear but still ambiguous ending. The clear part is he made a deal in order to save everyone and he has to leave. It doesn't say where, though. It does leave a lot to the viewer's imagination.
