Yes, Saint Seiya was the first anime to bring more attention to dubbing. The series was a huge success in the 90s and 00s. Saint Seiya had two dubs here, the first in 1994 and the second in 2003, both with practically the same cast, with the 2003 version being better.
Another anime that had a huge ...

Re: Why change the script?
As AliTheZombexam said, here we always use the original script for dubbing, using adaptations and changes only when necessary. This is a general rule for dubbing.
A very interesting comment I saw above was talking about wanting DBZ to look like an American cartoon.
But growing up watching anime in ...

Re: Why change the script?
The ironic thing is that the original version ended up doing well everywhere it went, even in places that weren't used to anime at the time. Here we had anime that came out based on the American version and others that came out based on the original, both of which were successful. As already ...

Why change the script?
Hi guys, I'm curious: Why did FUNimation change the scripts?
I mean, I understand that they put dialogue in still scenes, or soften certain moments. But why not use the original script?
Here in my country, Brazil, we dub based on the script that came in, and like all dubbing, there are the ...

Honestly, I didn't think it was that great. The Dragon Ball The Breakers announcement was more interesting. But let's wait and see.

Re: The notion that Dragon Ball didn't catch on with the Harmony Gold dub
We're talking about something from 34 years ago. It's hard for someone who saw it at the time to remember it clearly. It's very common to watch something as a child and completely forget it later, especially since Goku is called Zero in this version. I think the most likely thing someone will ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima trailer, October release date announced
I liked the trailer. It gave me a bit of a "xenoverse" vibe. I'm excited for this new anime, a classic DB style adventure is very welcome nowadays.
I wonder what the dubbing will be like. Whether they are going to use the adult cast or children.

Re: What would the general consensus be if Dragon Ball GT was announced today?
I believe that the opinion about DBGT has changed over the years. In the beginning the opinion was more favorable in the parts of the Baby and the dragons saga, over time it started to be hated for not being canonical, then it became nostalgic (mainly because of the opening) and in the end with the ...

Re: Adult Swim + Toonami LATAM channel announced - Possibility of DB airing there.
This reminds me when Toonami returned on CN in 2020, they showed the block in the worst possible way and at a terrible time. It seems like they did it to not work.
True. It felt like they just aired the block in order to fullfill their agreement with Crunchyroll rather than trying to appeal ...

Re: Adult Swim + Toonami LATAM channel announced - Possibility of DB airing there.
The promos said "Toonami will come when we finish airing the Freeza saga...soon-ish". So I think they will rerun the eps a lot then.
In 2018, they started showing DBZ and Saint Seiya on a TV channel and used this same strategy of repeating episodes, the claim at the time was that they wanted to ...

Re: Adult Swim + Toonami LATAM channel announced - Possibility of DB airing there.
I am sad to see the Paraguay feed is just "Tooncast but with DBZ." Sure DBZ is awesome and all but I cant find Naruto and I wish they aired One Piece as well.
Naruto is shown after DBZ. The beginning of AS here is really weak, they barely showed DBZ and have already started to rerun it (after ...

Re: Why do people take "5 minutes Namek explosion" so seriously?
I believe that people don't take it that seriously, it ends up being just another meme, like the ones that say that Captain Tsuaba's characters run infinitely on the football field or that Ash from Pokemon never ages.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 13; Still Unreleased
Thank you very much for the explanation. It's a shame this dub didn't air, YTV showed DBZ, it could have shown DBZ Kai at the time.
No problem, and yes given its history with the franchise YTV certainly would have been ideal, although sadly they haven't aired the series since 2005 (episode 1 ...
