Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

Given that, which downloadable/buyable sets would you ultimately recommend can I find to get the recommended DB with good/decent Dubs and Subs? "Good" is controversial, but a decent dub option is Dragon Ball and then Dragon Ball Kai. For subs, all the releases have good subs, so pick up anything. T...

Re: Movie Tournament: Rounds 1 and 2

1: Mystical Adventure.
A solid, fun movie, unlike the unmitigated shit that ResF was.

2: Z 13.
Battle Of Gods is merely pretty fun, while Z movie 13 is one of the best things Toei ever did with Dragon Ball, IMO.

Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 15 - DB episodes 66-70 (CURRENT WEEK)

Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

That's fair. Personally, it seems like kind of a weird half-measure between watching both the Japanese and dub versions. But I suppose it's quite time efficient if you're looking to determine how the versions differ. I can't speak for anyone else who's done this, but I did it to see how close the s...

Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

And TBH I always found that viewing option kinda weird anyway If DB is a show you watch multiples times, then it's an interesting way to experience the series once. That's fair. Personally, it seems like kind of a weird half-measure between watching both the Japanese and dub versions. But I suppose...

Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

Anyway, if I recall, I don't think you can watch the dub with JPN subtitles. It would be nice to mix and match, but it seems like something you can only do with a physical release. I'm more price sensitive, so that feels like a waste of money for such an experience, but if you have cash to burn... ...

Re: Why Dragon Ball Won't Get a Game?

People have chosen - with their wallets. Except that there have been maybe five or six OG DB games in the past 20 years, all fairly small games (either handheld or Wii entries), and we have no sales data on any of them, though Origins got a sequel, so that one -- at least -- had to be pretty dang p...

Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

It's really interesting seeing it from the other side. At a certain point, all there is to say is you either like something or you don't. Someone badgering you with what they think is objective evidence won't change their opinion. The point isn't to change your opinion, only an idiot would be tryin...

I'm not telling you to make shorter posts, I'm telling you not to project onto people so much. Except that's literally not what you said. Anyway: I don't think changes are a fundamental part of translation. Except that literally is what you said. ... Now who's gaslighting? :P (Yes, I know changing ...

Re: Why Dragon Ball Won't Get a Game?

Z is what sells for people. Nobody wants to play through the outdated series of old. Sure, because "There have been no OG Dragon Ball games in the past 10 years" naturally means "No one has been interested in buying an OG Dragon Ball game in the past 10 years"... Name a OG Dragon Ball game s...

Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

You're really gonna have to stop inserting an entire novel into our mouths when we have these discussions. It's almost completely impossible to even talk about this with you when you make gargantuan-leaps into strawmen arguments. Sorry, I'll switch to posting audiobooks from now on. On a serious no...

Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

You're using people's nostalgic value of something as a way to discredit their arguments and completely dismiss their opinions of something you don't see as having merit. How else are we supposed to take that as anything but a negative in this context? The "you're too nostalgic" talking point is th...

The movies have a quick, concise stories. They never drag on longer than they need to. I love them. If we got one every couple of years, that would be awesome. Agreed. They're definitely milking the fact that the Moro saga is monthly. Much like Toei did with the Tournament of Power being ...

Robo, do you really have to do this in EVERY SINGLE DISCUSSION about modern Funimation dubs?! If people start talking about "kai's dub is really good" or other such things, then yes, I do. To me, it's a stupid view that's entirely propagated by people nostalgic for the old dub finally having a vers...

Re: Why Dragon Ball Won't Get a Game?

I'll say this: The fact that the Kakarot game skipped OG DB was utterly goddamn stupid. But it shows the attitude the guys in charge have these days; Z has the most easily-marketable elements, and they get to do only two thirds of the work they'd otherwise do if they have this easy "we're just doing...

Re: Watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid - interested in rewatching the series. What series/versions/releases should I pick/sk

if you want it as close as possible to as a kid viewing... The db saga sets dvds, and the z and gt dvd singles. That'd cost too much and take forever to collect. I think Z has over 85 sets. Cost isn't really a problem; those singles tend to go quite cheap. Collecting them would likely be difficult,...

Re: Moro Arc

I think it's very poorly written, much like the Zamasu arc and Tournament of Power. I would be much happier if Dragon Ball stuck to movies for new canon content. Agreed. Their track record for movies is much better. Plus, for an interquel whose stories are generally presented as standalones, it mak...

OP or mods, I humbly request that you fix the title. My OCD is getting triggered badly. What do you mean? It's a statement. We've all been debating like idiots, when the OP was intending to say something very specific -- everyone's favourite baseball player, Who, is a Mary Sue character in Dragon B...

Cell. The guy is just too perfect. I mean seriously! Best response to this thread so far. Bravo! Because then it would've just been Trunks chopping Fused Zamasu in half with a technique he literally pulled out of thin air... Without even realizing he was doing it. Sorry, I still don't follow....
