Re: State of the Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z Broadcast Audio?

Japan as a whole is VERY protective of their material, Atlus got a lot of hate for refusing to allow Persona 5 to be streamed on Twitch(though P5: Royal is allowed ironically enough) and Sega of Japan made a whole bunch of bogus copyright claims on Shining Force videos on Youtube(which resulted in ...

Re: State of the Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z Broadcast Audio?

How come Toei didn't accept the BA audio? Is it a pride thing? Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

This is exactly how I feel. It's not to purposefully destroy the art, it's because some dept. said "Hey look, this is what consumers *not fans* want". Never forget that if this attitude from the high-ups, they're completely wrong. Regular consumers don't give a fuck about grain, and to be honest, t...

Re: Voiceless Audio Track on Chinese VCDs

This topic has a lot of potential. People here are talking about the possibility of fan dubbing more scenes but I feel like you could do even more than that. Like you could invert the audio with the japanese version and get the JP vocals without SFXs and music. That alone could be used for mods, an...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 10; Still Unreleased

Minor nitpick but the wording of this has always bothered me. There's little to suggest he was rejected . His anime dubbing stopped prior to Kai with, I believe, Inuyasha. From there we know he did a bit of live action work yet seemed to eventually move on to focus on real estate work in Toronto wi...

Re: When to watch GT Special?

It aired between GT episodes 41 and 42, and that's where it should go. It's between arcs, so there's no break in flow, and it sets up for the events of episode 64 (the flash-forward in 64 takes place after the special), and it means episode 64 is the last thing you watch, so that perfect ending is ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 10; Still Unreleased

I'm sure we'll see this get released eventually, there's no way they would spend all that money dubbing this just to sit on it forever. As much as I'd like to believe that, apparently it happens quite often. It is still being shopped around, so I think we'll see it eventually. But it could still be...

Re: State of the Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z Broadcast Audio?

I'll need to find the recipes that someone sent me, the guy who leaked all of the BA for early DRAGON BALL (the whole thing before Z) had an issue with Kanzenshuu and VegettoEX, why? Seems like it was a typical right wing anime fan, seems to be a lot of them in the DB fandom these days, I'm not sur...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 32 - DB episode 141-145 (CURRENT WEEK)

There was a "study" done, and I don't know how academic it was, that essentially said spoilers don't really ruin stories and to an extent I feel that's true. Still, all things considered, most of the time, I'd rather not know something important was going to happen beforehand. I don't think anyone ...

Re: Wow. The GT OST.

It honestly really annoys me that Toei brought in Kenji Yamamoto for Kai instead of getting Akihito Tokunaga (who composed GT). Tokunaga's work on Dragon Ball is, in my opinion, simply the best music Dragon Ball has ever had. Most definitely. I love that Tokunaga had that grand adventure feel of Ki...

Re: The worst we could have gotten in the 90s

Whatever "high ground" the old dub had was swamped when they hired a horribly inexperienced cast, miscast numerous roles, and wrote some of the most horrendously terrible dialog that along with being awful, characterizes numerous characters. At no point in my post did I imply I disagree with that. ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Someone else in another thread(forgot which one) theorized that Funi had already finished doing all the restoration work for every single episode of DBZ and that they could in theory release more Level Sets if they wanted to, they just don't want to because they've discovered that it's much more lu...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 32 - DB episode 141-145 (CURRENT WEEK)

My problem with this arc has always been that it completely falls apart regarding Piccolo; I just can't believe he'd waste time indulging in the Tournament format when it'd be more in his nature to just assassinate Goku in the gymnasium preliminaries and declare his domination of the world then and...

Re: The worst we could have gotten in the 90s

Indeed, it's not a perfect dub and there are no doubt things inserted in there dialogue wise that really shouldn't have been and some more character roles which really should have been recast. Still, on the whole i like that it exists as an alternative to the mediocre to unwatchably awful old Z dub...

Re: The worst we could have gotten in the 90s

Kai may indeed be a flawed product in numerous ways as noted, but i am glad that it's dub here is a significant enough improvement over the old DBZ dub that i can enjoy watching the show dubbed in English with a straight face. Given that FUNi will more than likely never do (though i'd really like i...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 32 - DB episode 141-145 (CURRENT WEEK)

I prefer the longer Japanese titles. They provide more weight and character for the episodes. It feels like someone really put some thought into it. There might be the occasional spoiler, but nothing *too* spoilerish and not that often. Plus it's all about getting out of the Western mindset of goin...
