Re: How many forms could be cut?
Grades 2 & 3 I don't think are necessarily needed. Also while Goku showing his fighting genius with acknowledging how bigger doesn't equal better and can be a hindrance on the body is cool in theory, it doesn't make much sense in the dragon world. There had been buffed out power ups featured ...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/11/24!)
Vegeta's transformation never made sense to me even as a child. Seriously, why did he not transform into a SS4 in the Saiyan arc? What is different this time?, with Goku, it makes sense. He turns into a mix of Oozaru with SS, with golden fur. Controlling that new form, that he would never had ...

Re: How many forms could be cut?
I never watched Super so I don't really know anything about the newer forms, but it sure seems like there's a lot of them. The stuff from the original series all has a place IMO.

Re: Why is Broly's (Legendary Super Saiyan) hair green in the movie?
I can't speak on the motivations but let's be real here - Broly having his own color palette is an undeniably large part of his appeal. It's the key differentiating element of his entire character, where without he'd just be another strong saiyan.
Is it? I vastly prefer his more "normal ...

Re: why is there so much toxic fanon in the dragon ball fandom?
On the subject of Vegeta’s redemption, I think what really bugs me is how a lot of fans act as if he had a tragic upbringing and that Freeza ruined his life (which was little more than a dubism), when the evidence would suggest otherwise. By all accounts, Vegeta was an evil little bastard even by ...

Re: What is the lamest thing to come out of modern DBZ?
I do find myself wondering these days if Dragon Ball would’ve been better off not getting a revival. I suppose BoG would’ve been made with or without Toriyama’s involvement, and by all accounts, his involvement did greatly improve the film, but maybe that should’ve been the end of it. Just let ...

Re: Why is Broly's (Legendary Super Saiyan) hair green in the movie?
I always assumed it was due to the mind control thing, and figured that was also why his SSJ hair was blue/purple.
But the colors in that movie are super weird anyway.

Re: "Sparking! ZERO" Official Announcement, Pre-, & Post-Release Discussion Thread
The story mode is definitely the weak spot for me. The presentation just sucks. I hate having to click through dialog in a cut scene (FighterZ did the same thing).

Re: DB: Budokai losing to tenkaichi is one of biggest tragedies to the series
I wouldn't really call it a tragedy. We had three Budokai games in three years, followed by three Tenkaichi games in three years. Ultimately, Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 3 were only three years apart. And the year after BT3 saw both Burst Limit and Infinite World, so both the 2D and 3D style were being ...

The mustache was ridiculous, but changing Vegeta haircut in GT was also unnecessary. Goku and Vegeta have such iconic hairstyles. They don't need to change to make them look older.

I'm unfamiliar with the circumstances behind the transformation, but visually I respond to it quite positively. And I like the idea of Goku and Vegeta having different transformations, rather than Vegeta just always playing catch-up.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Rewatching the original Dragon Ball it always bothered me how anticlimactic Goku's last appearance as a child is. Goku showing up all grown up was nearly as big of a game changer as being revealed as a father and an alien in the Saiyan arc and his last appearance in the anime as a kid is playing ...

Re: Fave Broly design?
Original, easily.
There are many valid criticisms to be had with how the character was written, but I think he has one of the best designs of a Saiyan character.
I particularly like his appearance in his 2nd movie, where he was a regular SSJ with no funky colors:

Re: A Kai Version of DB (1986 OG Series)
I don't think filler really became a problem until the Red Ribbon Army arc.
The first two arcs were actually very reasonable, with good reason - they were produced years after the manga release. The first 54 chapters of the manga were adapted into 28 episodes of the anime, meaning that even with ...

Re: What do you think are some of the worst retcons in the series?
Definitely the change to Bardock's character.
Dunno if it counts as a retcon since the character was never canon anyway, but the new Broly is super lame as well.

Re: How would you remake and rewrite the Majin Buu Saga?
The only thing I would change is bringing Gohan to fight Boo at the very end, rather than using the Genki Dama. And even that is like, eh, a trade-off compromise.

Re: I miss the DB Gang
One of my favorite aspects of the series is that the cast is constantly changing in a very organic way. They make new allies but they drift apart as well, and there aren't really any implications that they visit each other between story arcs, every event is treated like a reunion. Some became close ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
His origin is functionally identical to the original but, in my opinion, is far less interesting and dramatic. They were moody and ugly. The image of Broly and Paragus dying on a trash heap has always stuck with me. They said so much with very little.
His trauma is played for sympathy, but being ...
