Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

My take is that Merged Zamasu when his body isn't mutated IS the "base" version, halo or not. He didn't really get stronger throughout it all, just used fancier moves. In the manga, he has no halo but is functionally the same. It's when he decides to power up in the anime after getting his halo brok...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Just had this in mind. Didn't Toriyama state once that 2 SSJBs should be able to take on Merged Zamasu? If so, then both Toei and Toyotaro didn't get that far from this. I mean, Toyotaro stayed loyal to the idea and had the likes of Perfected SSJB rivaling Merged Zamasu, with Vegito having a clear ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

To be fair, Ultra Instinct Goku only got tagged by Hidden Power Jiren a few key times. The first time, he engaged in a beam struggle that Jiren could brute-force through; next, he deflected one of Goku's own blasts at him before then hitting him again in midair while he's reeling from the blow. The ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

You say all that as if Toriyama himself isn't the main driving factor. The anime hasn't returned yet, the anime has been referenced, the ORIGINAL MANGA has been referenced, and it's by the man himself. This isn't an old DBZ movie situation. This is a BoG/RoF situation. This is the current canon unti...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

I'll concede the point when and if I see this in Dragon Ball Super. Until then? It's no different than the Janemba movie or any other. In Broly, Goku and Vegeta were fusing for the first time as if the Janemba movie never existed. So, I'm going by the old rules until they make a point of changing i...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Well, it's Toriyama's next big chapter into the overall DBS story, so the film as a whole is canonical to the main continuity. Anyways, I think the film does a decent enough job giving us some gauges for where the characters lie compared to one another, at least in a general sense. I'll concede the...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

If SSB Goku can barely fight Ikari Broly albeit to a standstill albeit with a slowly growing edge due to better combat skill, I've no doubt that he couldn't fight Jiren at all anywhere close to full power. Not only is Jiren an impressive martial artist in overall skill, but the power gap was so mass...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

How much stronger do you guys suppose Ultra Instinct and HP Jiren are than SSB Fusion? I've seen a lot of things thrown around. Exactly the same level, weaker, slightly stronger, dozens of times stronger, and even hundreds of times stronger. Personally, I think the truth is somewhere between slight...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

So, I've thrown this out before, but how powerful do you guys think the base Saiyans were in the Broly movie before Broly amped up with Oozaru power to surpass Super Saiyan Vegeta? Goku, Vegeta, and Broly were all pretty much equal in power in their base forms before Broly started adapting and drawi...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Eh, Fusion wasn't used against Jiren despite Merged Zamasu being the weaker one. Besides that, the Tournament of Power didn't allow for good use of Fusion anyways. Not to mention that Fusion doesn't seem to factor in Ultra Instinct into its power boost seeing as how the form is consistently displaye...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Seeing as how Ultra Instinct is portrayed as generally on the same level as if not vastly superior to even SSB Fusion, I'm inclined to think that HP Jiren surpasses SSFP Broly by a fairly wide margin. I will grant that SSFP Broly might be stronger than regular FP Jiren, but ONLY in raw power, and ce...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Going off of Resurrection ‘F’, both movie and retelling, true form Freeza was weaker than base for Goku even with his Golden form being stronger. I'm talking about now. They're all within the same general range such that they pretty much stalemate one another. Hos base would be weaker if Golden Fre...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

How strong would a hypothetical Ultimate Goku be if Old Kaioshin got a chance to give it to him? On par with SSBKK Goku from 123? Rivaling his Omen self in its various appearances? Ultimate is all about bringing out the maximum power you have and some more. Maybe at the power level of Ultra Instinc...

All 3 of them are pretty much equal in their respective forms anyways. Base/SS Goku and Vegeta are even with Final Form Freeza, and SSB is equal to True Golden Freeza. Re: Are Power Scalers a cause or symptom of toxicity in the fandom?

Seems as though we created the very thing we sought to destroy.

But I guess that's just one of the facets of being part of the community.

Re: Are Power Scalers a cause or symptom of toxicity in the fandom?

As I said before, the concept and sometimes execution isn't toxic or even bad in and of itself.

However, it can be misused to put down the opinions of others, spread a bad message, etc.

Re: Are Power Scalers a cause or symptom of toxicity in the fandom?

As others have said, the actual idea is perfectly fine. It's just that, when toxic elements are already present, they can be amplified through the usage of otherwise neutral ideas such as this one. Power scaling is but another means of spreading a certain mindset; nothing more, nothing less. Can be ...
