Re: What happened to the Dragon Ball/DBZ/DBGT masters?
We don't know for sure, but there is a chance they still have them. When Nicktoons aired GT in 2012 they used the same edited cut that aired on Toonami, so it's possible Funimation/Crunchyroll kept the edited Z masters just in case they were needed for a broadcast.
Come to think of it, now that ...

Re: Would Dragon Ball be successful in English-speaking countries if the old English dubs weren't Americanized?
I understand why people take Mexico and Latin America as an example, and even Europe, but the American market is completely different from any of them, this is a more "puritanital" market when it comes to children's content.

Re: AB vidéo has given up on continuing their Dragon Ball releases on Blu Ray
Looks like it's time to pack it up, I guess. Possibly the last remaining hope for any good home release treatment has been scrapped, and anyone doing this officially who's not Toei will probably encounter the exact same situation all the time.

but we know Toriyama has let pop culture influence him
Definitely not from the video game world though, if anything he himself was the one influencing that.

Re: Opinions on the Dragon Ball Daima soundtrack?
The release has just confirmed what we now know to be a reality:
sound direction will always be a skill issue where DB is concerned, even if you get names who have done stellar work in other parts of their resume.
So many things in there that were underused or just not effectively utilized most ...

Re: Opinions on the Dragon Ball Daima soundtrack?
While the compositions themselves are fine enough, I think the show utilizes them pretty terribly. So many moments that feel like they should have had music just don't, and even when music does play it's too low to make much of an impact. I'm not sure if I would actually say the music is itself ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 15; Still Unreleased
I'd be all for other services like Netflix or Retrocrush getting anything Dragon Ball as competition and diversity is better for businesses.
The latter in particular might actually do a far better job than Crunchyroll (and of course, the previously extant Funimation) would with regards to ...

Re: Producer confirms Daima was made for GT fans
The idea itself is the kind of thing you do for an episode or two anyway, which is why there's rarely (if any) series that do this and run with it for the whole duration like DB entries have.

Re: Daima Soundtrack + Other Digital Releases
I wondered why it took them so long
It's a standard waiting period for most full anime soundtrack material (especially as the series hasn't even ended yet), but I suppose there's some that have come out earlier in a show's run.
Then again there's been more than one irregular aspect of the ...

Re: Opinions on the Dragon Ball Daima soundtrack?
While I can't comment on the soundtrack album yet, the score in the show has been exceptionally frustrating.
Putting aside the fact that the mixing has pushed the music right down low, and the fact the placement has made it feel super sparse... I don't think it's very good? The instrumentation ...

Re: Rank the Dragon Ball anime music scores
I like the music of Kikuchi score in itself, but the implementation in the anime makes it sound really old fashioned. Like something from a 70's Godzilla film. It works in some of the more calm parts like Genki dama theme but 80% of the score brings down the anime for me. It's like it makes the ...

Re: Will there be an official Dragon Ball Daima soundtrack release?
I still find it odd that people are exaggerating what is an entirely normal waiting period for this material to release when the series hasn't even ended yet. It was the same story with the OP's full version that just came out a few days ago.
Everyone else can wait, why can't people in this fandom?

It's an interesting discussion for another day, but DB is probably the least of their problems now.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 6:07 am Why does there always have to be some scandal that affects Dragon Ball?
As for the larger situation, more than a few heads will have to roll before there's any resolution.

So now that all three Dragon Balls are gathered right outside Gomah's doorstep, is there going to be some kind of three-way struggle between him, the gang, and Arinsu? What decision will Glorio make?

Well, it's definitely better than Super's synth-based themes.
I do love myself classic orchestra-based soundtracks, but I still struggle to remember a single theme from this show.
With Super, I at least remembered the recap music, the "diabetic happy ending synth theme", and the Ultra Instinct ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 11 - Official Discussion Thread
I would characterize that as an apt comparison for how I feel. I was even more disappointed because I love the work of the composer of Super Hero for the PreCure franchise.
I'd certainly say that he "fell off" that time, but from the looks of it, despite the franchise name it really was just a ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 11 - Official Discussion Thread
My biggest gripe with Daima so far is the soundtrack. Aside from the great opening music, I'm not really connecting with any of the OSTs. Every DB series has some really good instrumental songs that I ocasionally go back to listen, but I'm not feeling that with Daima.
Does this mean it's as bad ...

And, uh... I daresay 以上 is usually used in the "Higher than the previously stated number" sense.
That's pretty much always what it is, no worries.
"8000 or more/higher" would be something like "8000、いや、それ以上か…" (there's more than one way to say something like this in JP really).
