Re: Most Overrated Character (Besides Goku and Vegeta)?
The reason answer is Piccolo. Way too fans think he's the best written character in the franchise when in reality he hasn't had a single piece of good writing attached to him nor any real development after the Saiyan saga. Fans also think he's one of the smartest characters when in reality he's just...

Re: What is your ideal alternative roster of the ToP saga?
My ideal alternative TOP roster reflects what i think should have happened in the dragon ball franchise since battle of gods, here are some changes in DBS that would give us this roster. no1. gohan loses all of his powers permanently and he is now just a regular human that cant even fly, this is th...

Re: Has the focus on Saiyan in the series ruined the entire franchise?
What was the whole point of his character as a kid? Toriyama paid off Gohan's arc in the very first arc he's introduced in. He found his courage. That wasn't the whole point of Gohan. He wasn't useless. He has a complete journey. He realizes being the best martial artist he can be isn't his goal in...

Re: Has the focus on Saiyan in the series ruined the entire franchise?
The thing about memories is they are often unreliable and inaccurate. Thank you for letting me know what I'm already aware of. My point in sharing that was to say that there are people who are coming to this discussion with half-remembered feelings of a show they watched years ago at this point. Wi...

Re: Has the focus on Saiyan in the series ruined the entire franchise?
And folks who defends the bad direction Gohan's character went after the Cell Games by thinking its the natural direction of his character (it really isn't) doesn't even really get Gohan as a character, let alone the whole point of his character arc as a kid. There's no point in giving a character ...

Re: Has the focus on Saiyan in the series ruined the entire franchise?
And what others are trying to say is that this series really doesn't give much narrative value at all to non-fighters. I think they are given more value than one would assume. They are given *too* much value. Those characters don't deserve it anymore, nor do they require it. Trying to give them val...

Re: Has the focus on Saiyan in the series ruined the entire franchise?
🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ No, I was listing things the characters did to contribute to the “big fights” since you’re so hyper focused on the fighting as if the series is nothing but fight scenes. Gohan actually had a character arc in Super. The series went out of its way to give ...

Re: Has the focus on Saiyan in the series ruined the entire franchise?
Dragon Ball 's original serialization was interesting because Toriyama wasn't afraid to just fucking ditch characters. Lunch? Upa? Sno? Gone. Yamcha? Chaiotzu? Sidelines. Tenshinhan? Weirdly got the Cell and Boo moments. Kinda in-character I guess. I dunno. Conflicted on that. And that's why I thou...

Re: Were the other universes too underpowered?
Its extremely disappointing how the majority of the ToP contestants could be handled by Base Goku. How can you introduce the concept of a multiverse and not have anything worth exploring or visiting with them? Its a major waste and it only serves to further shrink the series' setting.

Re: Has the focus on Saiyan in the series ruined the entire franchise?
They should have just dropped those characters for Super. GT wisely let go of the Earthling fighters in order to move forward. Super could have just focused on Goku and Vegeta and forgotten the rest. Yeah maybe keep Gohan around. Long running series should know when to make cast changes. Scooby-Doo...

Ultimate Gohan (Cell Games) vs Buucolo
Base Vegito (Black arc) vs A17 (ToP anime)
SSJR Goku Black with his scythe vs Enraged Base Broly (DBS)
And who do you guys think is the strongest canon character that SSJ1 Bardock from EoB can beat?

Re: Nozawa and the nuances of acting being lost on the new generation of Seiyuu
Most acting in Toku shows tends to be really bad (with exceptions), not because its "unrealistic" but because it tends to come off as obviously forced and inorganic as well as the actors often straight up lacking any talent for acting (which is why most of them struggle to get any roles o...

Re: Nozawa and the nuances of acting being lost on the new generation of Seiyuu
I think naturalism in acting is pretty boring. I don't even find the acting in, say, Hollywood films particularly naturalistic, either. Talking to people all day is my job and I've come to find that actors always do a very planned out and refined delivery for their acting so that the dialogue can b...

Re: Nozawa and the nuances of acting being lost on the new generation of Seiyuu
Japanese live action/anime acting is much closer to theatrical acting than American live action/cartoon acting is, it's just a different approach. And none of these forms of acting are trying to come across as realistic and natural, that's not the point. Acting that sounds like actual real life con...

Masako Nozawa isn't the only who said this. Norio Wakamoto, Toru Furuya, Kotono Mitsuishi, Akira Kamiya and several Anime directors have made similar comments over the years since 2010.

Re: The All-Purpose "What-If " Thread
What if the Potara fusion was truly permanent and could only be undone by the Super Dragonballs? How would this effect the series since the Buu arc?
