Re: Dragonball Super doesn't feel like Dragonball
So it has been written https://i.imgur.com/DAa6h2a.png Now this was funny I remember laughing at this a lot and feeling sad for poor Trunks. But back to Super I must admit reading the manga was quite a joy for me. It felt closer to dragon ball than the anime no offense. I was always impressed with ...

Re: Why Goku Staying Dead is Much Deeper Than You Think
He didn't forget. He just decided to fight dead guys that could be stronger than him. I mean it in how it applies to always being someone stronger than can threaten the Earth. But that wasn't Roshi's lesson at all. He wasn't training Goku to be earth's defender . I'm not saying that he did (while t...

Re: Why Goku Staying Dead is Much Deeper Than You Think
I think that the narrative theme of him staying alive at the end was that he realized that he was wrong, as Majin Buu wasn't an enemy caused by him, and to show that he forgot Master Roshi's lesson that "there is always someone stronger", this also applied to the threats to Earth, there is...

Re: What's the problem with post-Cell arc Gohan?
Post-Cell was never the problem, he was always consistent then, especially in Super, the real problem is during the Cell fight itself, Cell fight Gohan made no sense with his sudden dislike for fighting that was never hinted at or mentioned before, and was supposedly one of his core traits, the enti...

Re: Absurdities of claiming that canon does not exist
I think it's quite obvious that everything is "canon" but different "alternate realities" and "side stories", those are the official words, so that's what we should use for Super Anime, Super Manga, DBZ movies, GT, Online, Xenoverse, Heroes, etc. with the core of everyt...

Re: What is the minimum age you would recommend Dragon Ball for?
I started watching it regularly at the age of 10, these days younger kids are into violent stuff anyways, i have a very young cousin who is 8 and has seen and loved Naruto, so these days, depending on the personality of the child, it could be anywhere from 7-12. The best answer is always that it dep...

Re: Interesting line from Piccolo about Goku in the dub; Does Goku really crave mayhem?
I think that, using a reasoning with the characterization they chose for Goku in the dub, Piccolo was referring to him craving mayhem to be the one who goes in and solves it, he craves finding mayhem and beating the ones causing it, as in, not only is he a hero, but he enjoys the act of being one. T...

Re: Is Gohan more handsome than his father?
Gohan has gained his own share of female attraction (see his High School days, the Great Saiyaman Super episodes or the Cell Arc fillers), and they are so alike in many ways that it is reasonable to say they are both attractive, maybe not supermodel type of attactive, but still good looking. I think...

Well, he accidentally sexually assaulted many people in the past, Chi-Chi, Oolong, Pocawatha, Grandma Paozu, Bulma, etc.

Re: If Freeza were a female would he still be a hit as a villain?
Considering Frieza is quite androgynous in appereance, in the story you could even have him look the same but be called a girl and it wouldn't make any difference.

Re: Let's Use The Real World Calendar.
I want to ask what is the basis for the 1984 date to begin with, Dr. Slump? The basis I use is the fact that 1984 is the year Dragon Ball was released. It stands to reason that 1984 translates to AGE 749, as that's the year you'll get for Pilaf saga by doing math correctly based on "AGE 788&qu...

Re: Let's Use The Real World Calendar.
This is really interesting and it also kinda helps me with a story i'm working on right now that has real world dates in the Dragon World for it to work. I want to ask what is the basis for the 1984 date to begin with, Dr. Slump? I want to know what the "anchor date" is and how much time ...

Re: Do you prefer the wacky adventures of Dragon Ball and early GT, or the high speed action of Z and everything else?
I prefer a good balance of both, but either in their purest form are enjoyable on their own, i love Dragon Ball in it's 3 facets, when it's a fun adventure, when it's a comedy, and when it's a battle oriented drama, it does well in all 3 while still feeling like the same show in spirit,.

Re: Sorrow and Melancholy
Dragon Ball does sorrow really well, Goku's reaction to seeing Grandpa Gohan, the loss of Roshi and Krillin in the Piccolo Daimao Arc, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu, Yamcha, and Piccolo dying in the Nappa fight, Vegeta's death at the hands of Frieza, it's all really well handled emotionally, even Future Goha...
