How did I first watch DBZ?
The English dub on TV.

How do I currently watch DBZ?
With uncut Japanese audio from the Saga Set DVDs, where available.

What do I prefer overall?

The Japanese audio... not because of the voices especially, but because of the writing. Daimao's subs are a lot less ...

If not for Vegeta's one line where he said it would grow back, there would be no real reason for doubt. Adult Saiyajin as a rule do not grow their tails back. The events of Dragon Ball GT are a clear exception, since they had to go to extraordinary lengths to regrow their tails.

The thing that ...

Well, it's strange. George Lucas made idea of making something "canon" or "not canon" that fans now judge other shows.
That's nonsense. The concept of canon goes back to the publication of the first Christian bibles, which was centuries ago. It's an ancient concept, and one which is widely applied ...

No, I'm the one who's a jerk. I assumed that the reason you couldn't read the manga was something trivial, which would make it "I won't read the manga".

You have my apologies. I'm to blame for the off-topic posts, and I'm very sorry.

I can't read the manga.
Now why might that be?
Maybe he lives in a country where the manga isn't published? I have that problem with the anime, but I just solve it by getting the american DVDs.
Assuming he can read English, he could do the same as you do. Buy the American release, only in his ...

hehe it would be funny if Akira would have writen something bad about GT in their own DVD case. But I think from his Daizen interview (when Dragon ball GT first came out) he liked the idea TOEI was taking the story, before it became just another Dragon ball Z in the super 17/dragon saga)

Cha-La Head Cha-La has been in Taiko no Tatsujin on PS2, as well. It's quite a fun tune to drum to.

...yeah, so? Some people decide that they want Goku and Gohan to be in an incestuous, homosexual relationship. Doesn't make it any more valid :P

Isn't there fan fiction about that?
Of course there is. Rule #34 pretty much guarantees that not only is there fan fiction, but lavishly illustrated ...

Goku does know what love is. Just remember that he grew up differently from everyone else, so he expresses it much differently. Goku isn't the kind to be effectionate in the manner we're all familiar with. He just does it in his own way.
When I say "love" I mean romantic love, of course. Eros if ...

Isn't this kinda in the same realm of how Goerge Lucas almost kinda sorta acknowlegdes some of the books that have been written within the Star Wars Universe?

But the average fan doesn't harbor animosity towards Star Wars books, requiring the creator of the original story to acknowledge them ...

I wouldn't want to skip all the filler. The filler scenes in the Saiyajin Saga pad things out nicely without making a mess of anything. While I do class the manga as being the ultimate version of DB, I'm not opposed to good filler. The only filler I would like to (and do) skip is the Garlic Jr. arc.

When did GT being a part of the anime storyline become contested?
For the same reason that the movies aren't a real part of the anime storyline. They don't fit into continuity properly, and they aren't based on Toriyama's work. I'm just giving my reasoning, I've got no axe to grind with anyone ...

Except it stopped being a comedy with King Piccolo. Really? I actually have yet to see that. I only got up to the episode where Kurinin died.
Really. It pretty much changed in tone from that point onwards. I won't say that it stopped being a comedy, because there are still some funny parts even in ...

They should scale up nicely, being good clean line art. Or since they are mostly just plain ol' kanji, maybe you could find a way to just use text. If you click the link, they're pretty big already ...

I'm tempted to stick the relevant episode back on, right now. I don't remember anyone but Piccolo being especially harsh to Gohan, during the whole fight with the Saiyajin. I'm obviously not saying that anyone is wrong, least of all Steve Simmons... I just don't remember what in particular was said ...

I used to hate GT also because I always thought that in reality Akira would not have anything to do with this and that is why he left early.
How are you on a first name basis with Mr. Akira Toriyama?

In any case, he's saying that he approved the creation of it, but that the story is nothing to do ...

So it's a side-story, or something that isn't part of the main story. That's fine by me. It's still not a part of the manga, or even a part of the main anime story. It's got about the same status as a movie, to judge from what he said in the text you've provided.
