Re: Would Dragon Ball be successful in English-speaking countries if the old English dubs weren't Americanized?
Cartoon Network was a network that started out by airing Hanna Barbera cartoons. Kids don't care that much about what is "modern". Dragon Ball wouldn't have gotten cancelled. There's zero reason to think this is true. The show would do what it did in Japan - grow in popularity as it went ...

Blowing up planets
Outside of Freeze, Cell, Buu, and Beerus (as well as Roshi and Piccolo blowing up the moon, and filler Vegeta), who has been shown to blow up a planet? Did it drain them of a significant amount of energy? How feasible would be to use that amount of energy in a fight?

Re: Would Dragon Ball be successful in English-speaking countries if the old English dubs weren't Americanized?
The better question is would the show still have been a success with some on else controlling it in the early days. Would someone else have gotten it on broadcast television or worked out a way to get it on Toonami?
Also, starting with Dragon Ball. Z fells more and looked more modern. There's a ...

Re: "Sparking! ZERO" Official Announcement, Pre-, & Post-Release Discussion Thread
But... those are post-launch DLC characters you're talking about in Street Fighter , not base-game-launch-characters. The full roster is available unlocked from the start of the base game in Street Fighter games.
It's not like you're going to be able to unlock the upcoming Super Hero DLC ...

Re: Would FUNimation even have survived were it not for Dragon Ball?
Disregarding, as someone else pointed out, that FUNi only existed because of Dragonball. If they did not have Dragon Ball, they would have gotten something else. They would essentially be one of their contemporaries with a different show. The real questions are: How would the company who did get ...

Re: Has Toriyama ever ran a joke into the ground?
This is one I tend to forget about (probably intentionally) but this always made me really uncomfortable to watch because it felt so awkward. Which I guess was the point, but they could have done the gag without showing full frontal nudity too. It was too much for me, especially now as an ...

The South Kai-absorbed Buu. The one that looks like Xherdan Shaqiri and fought Shin and the Dai Kaioshin.
He shouldn't be that overlooked, he's the first ever fused Buu.
True, but we haven't seen that version of Buu do much to warrant an entire moveset. We see a glimpse of him in the manga ...

Re: DB: Budokai losing to tenkaichi is one of biggest tragedies to the series
Right, but that doesn't make a game unfinished.
Companies release unfinished games all the time because we as the consumer have enough content to hold us over.
Budokai 3 being finished or unfinished is simply up to the eye of the beholder.
Personally I would love a Budokai 3 remake where ...

Re: DB: Budokai losing to tenkaichi is one of biggest tragedies to the series
The appeal of Sparking is it's ability to let us emulate the show. Being able to perform attacks from similar camera angles as the show. Having more characters and forms allowed is to recreate more fights and what if fights.
Also, as much fun we were having with Budokai, we were always wishing for ...

Re: Is a Budokai Reboot possible ?
We've been getting what are essentially Sparking games all along for decades. While not 100% the same, Raging Blast, Battle of Z, Xenoverse, and Kakarot play very similar Sparking. By using the Sparking name, they get some nostalgia hype on their next Dragonball game.
When it comes to Budokai, what ...

Mecha Freeza should realistically be a costume even though it's been a separate character historically.
People make the argument that Mecha Freeza can't transform
Costumes can change character's movesets, just make it so the Mecha Frieza Costume can't transform
I hope it's a Costume but most ...

There's a number of variables that the producers will have to consider when the Son family men are no longer able to be voiced by her.
What future products are scheduled?
Have they already been looking for a replacement?
How long with they wait before continuing productions?

Re: Toei's fixation on Goku being the strongest
Again you didnt get the point of the thread, Toriyama wants what you said, for Goku to find a new challenge and overcome, for eternity. Toei wants for Goku to be the strongest period. No new challengers.
I can't recall any instance of a new threat showing up, Goku rolling in and just instantly ...

Re: I just watched the ending of GT (Japanese version) and it was one of the most depressing things I’ve ever seen
I thought it was a nice ending. It makes sense there would come a long period of peace after all the major threats were defeated. In DB, it was a few hundred after King Piccolo was sealed that the Earth was in danger. Then all these threats showed up in relatively quick succession but many were ...

Re: Goku was smart in Dragon Ball manga
I have also noticed and commented at places that kid Goku was smarter than adult Goku.
Maybe the fact that he did not want to marry and have kids but Chichi forced him made Goku start acting stupid to troll people around him.
Ever since Goku died and started to live with King Kai and bubbles ...

Having to see Pan as a grandma, with none of the original characters around to keep her company implying they’re all dead,
How do we have a Goku jr if Pan has no one? Goku is remembered enough if his great-grand kids decide to name their son after him. And we also have Vegeta jr.
Roshi and the ...

Re: Why Do People Think Goku Wins All the Time?
I wonder the same. Literally my first impression of Goku as a kid was "man this guy sure gets beat up a lot." First episodes I saw were the Ocean dub Tree of might episode and when he was in the hospital after the Saiyan fight.
One of the reasoning I give for Superman winning against Goku, is ...
