Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
I recorded the part of Funi's panel where they started talking about DBZ Blu-ray. Sorry for the shakyness in the beginning. I was raising my hands in the sky too
As did I, in HD no less, heh: http://youtu.be/WlHxtQbAePI
I apologize for the schlub that was marking out next to me ...

Re: FUNimation to put DBZ on Blu-Ray
Sigh Why does Funimation always give DBZ the cheesiest trailers. Will make judgements when a high quality version of the trailer comes out.
And the trailers for the Dragon Boxes weren't? Granted, they riffed off the original Japanese trailers for their Dragon Box releases, but yeah, those ...

Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discuss
They should have hired a different voice actor for Piccolo then. If stuff like that happens use a new actor. Simple but then I bet Sabat doesn't want to give up that role for somebody more "fitting"?
Scott McNeil's phone line is probably not that busy

Re: Dragonball Z Kai - Part 4 Cover
Complaining about the cover art is utterly pointless.
I tend to agree with this sentiment, Mike. I'd rather complain about the fact that they're sticking to 13 episodes, when the Freeza arc ends at Episode 54. Why FUNi didn't want to add 2 more episodes to their set is beyond me (other than ...

Re: DragonBall Z Kai Cable TV Version (NickToons) Edits! *Ep 28*
Wow, why would they change a whole line just to change one little word from "jerks" to "punks." Seems like a pointless edit.
Unfortunately, they were told to change it by Nickelodeon's standards dept. Moreover, whoever told FUNi to change "jerk" completely missed the origin of "jerk" as an insult ...

Re: Why Z Kai?
Please excuse the brief '90s flashback:
Because Toei said so. (And that's the bottom line.)
It's simple, and makes sense when you think about it. If Toei thinks it will make more sense to put the Z in, outside of Japan, they will do so.
As for me, I just ignore the Z and just call it Kai. (Like ...

Plus, for those who do have a Facebook account, it still doesn't work. -.-
It should still work if you have the latest Adobe Flash Player. Right now I'm not putting it on YouTube (yet) because Hoobastank is a Warner Music Group band, and YouTube generally frowns upon user-created stuff with WMG ...

"Right Now Another DBZ Fan Is Born"
This cute moment happened at Anime USA this weekend , while the AMV room was playing my DBZ video from 2008 ("Earth's Last Hope"). One of our Katsu staffers came in with toddler in tow, and as they were watching, the little one walked toward the screen mesmerized by the larger-than-life images of ...

I think I might have all of you beat, since I'm well past age 21. :)

Please tell me somebody is saving these things. I'm going to need a good laugh in five or ten years. :p
Same here. I can't really watch Kai on Toonzai while at school, since my roommate is sleeping in and stuff usually, so I would love it if someone could record the 4kids version and post a video ...

Re: Dragonball Kai Part 3 Cover
There's an ad in RightStuf's latest catalog advertising for Z Kai Part 3. I figured I'd take a picture of it and show it to everyone who doesn't get the catalog.
Yeah. If by "anti-hero" they meant "badass guy who turned into a grumpy and easily irritated uncle", then yes. I always thought that ...

Re: "Not 'til the fish jumps"
In the dub of the show they say "Is it over?".....Not til the fish jumps".....Okay, its over" and then the movie ends. I thought that was just absolutely hilarious, so I wanted to get people opinion on it.

Re: Bardock Appreciation Thread
Interesting to see someone else's take on the Bardock TV Special and Bardock himself.
I guess because I have a soft spot for badasses, Bardock turned me on so. But looking at it from your perspective, his fate was cruel AND justified. For the death and destruction he and his race caused, he and ...

Re: DB relationships
As for my thoughts on yaoi...
I love yaoi, but eh, I don't think DBZ is that romantic or even emotional of a series to begin with. I can appreciate the canon pairings, but Toriyama isn't necessarily the best writer of them. Goku/Vegeta is kinda cute, but Goku is also so non-romantic, so ehhhh ...

Did the subtitler not see the innuendo in that sentence at all? :P
Oh, pfffft. There's a lot of innuendo that the English dub/subtitles got past the radar.
There's this scene from Episode 154 - Vegeta and Trunks emerge from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. The gang has awaited their finish. Bulma ...

Re: DB relationships
I'm more of a bara fan myself ("Bara" from "Barazoku" which used to be a semi-prominent gay magazine years ago in Japan), and I like a decently-written fanfic or doujinshi of DBZ characters, especially when these authors/artists actualy have an idea as to how gay people make love. Most of the ...

Re: Dragonball stuff on regular television
I do remember on an early episode of CSI:NY, in the opening segment, the camera is taking a revolving shot of three supporting characters in a conversation, and there's a fleeting shot of SSJ Goku on the side of a truck. The clip is on YouTube somewhere.

I don't recall any spiced up dialogue in Full Metal Alchemist
I do.

To my knowledge, other than the occasional mild expletive (but no major four-letter words), they kept the dialogue pretty much faithful throughout. Maybe it was because FMA was more of a serious shounen show ...
