Re: Vocal sentences in earlier games

That's actually quite possible... would also explain why subsequent games didn't have the blast reaction vocals at all. Or why all the voices in Hyper Dimension sound like the voice actors are talking into a pillow. :P

Re: Vocal sentences in earlier games

Wow, I guess you're better at listening to Japanese than me. (Then again, that -is- the portion I failed my exams on) I haven't been able to trigger the "Jaa ne" soundbyte... I actually let myself get a game over just before I posted last time because that's exactly what I figured i...

Re: One more time: Z Music suggestions :)

When I think of modern Dragon Ball music outside the Faulconer style, I usually think of slightly rocky tunes with lots of trumpets and some strings here and there--no doubt thanks to Yamamoto, although there are some Kikuchi pieces that liked the guitar too, like this one (which I rather like despi...

Re: Vocal sentences in earlier games

Those SB2 ending bits always mystified me. Why does a random guy come in and yell "DRAGON BALL Z" at the end? Also, SB1 has a bunch of weird voice clips in its sound test that I haven't even been able to trigger in the game. There's the special move ones that only play in mirror matches (w...

Re: FUNimation "DBZ on Blu-Ray" Survey

FUNimation should just release it in 4:3 and have a sticker on the front saying "SPECIAL 16:9 MODE!!! Activated by pressing the "zoom" button on your DVD remote!"

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ: "Rock the Dragon"

Can I ask the Brits among us, how are you planning to buy this boxset? I'm rather nervous about importing the set via Amazon.com, because I don't want to fall victim to large custom duties. Any help would be much appreciated :) Last time I ordered from Amazon US, they charged me a customs fee up fr...

Re: Will You Be Buying The "Rock The Dragon" DVD Box Set?

No. Already have everything on vhs or dvd. Not buying again. Definitely not. Even with the nostalgia factor, I wouldn't actually sit down and watch the show this way. Watching any version of Dragon Ball is a pretty serious time investment, so why would I watch one of the crappiest versions? Since y...

Re: General Yamamoto Rip off thread

I always heard something very familiar every time when I listened to Satan's theme from Super Butouden 2, and have found what it was: Super Butoden 2 - Mr. Satan's Theme (Turbo Mode Theme) The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby It's so short that it can't be considered as plagiarism, though. Hey, I didn't kno...

Re: Special Podcast Episode: DBZ Video Game Music #1

This was a lot of fun to listen to, because I can really connect with all these experiences myself--barely knowing anything about Dragon Ball, but finding all these video games and their music... Actually, the video game scores are actually the most closely associated with Dragon Ball in my mind. Ma...

Re: Community Skype Chat?

Don't you need to pay to have a big party chat on Skype? That's only if you turn on webcams. Anyway, my Skype is blaataap92 - I'm pretty much always on because I leave my PC to do stuff even when I'm asleep, but that doesn't always mean I'm there or able to accept calls (the other people in the hou...

For a long time, Bulma was my least favourite character. Then I realised I just hated Tiffany Vollmer's voice.

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

That's exactly the reason why I think the bleeps work. When characters or shows that are not generally predisposed to swearing suddenly <bleep> the <bleeping> <bleep> in a conversation it makes the bit that much funnier. Especially since it's really only Vegeta, Bulma, and some of the bad guys who ...

Re: Episode #0332 (28 April 2013)

I had absolutely no clue about the first question--to be honest, I didn't even know that there was a "right" way to do the Kamehameha. The only ones I got completely right were Goku's anime-only technique and the sound one. I'm still not sure when Videl won the Tenkaichi Budoukai... was th...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

So... Master Roshi has the same voice as Krillin now. Just like the Ocean dub, and in the exact same episode! (Unless this happened way earlier and I had snot in my ears) That said, this ep started off a little slow 'cause I saw a lot of the jokes coming, but then it really picked up and I cursed my...

As much as I generally like the Pilaf filler, I'd get rid of that dumb pinball thing. Hell, the entire segment at Pilaf's castle is really drawn out and could use some trimming.

Re: Interesting DBZ Frame Data

This is actually pretty cool! I guess I'm a sucker for listing "useless" data like this, myself. It's also pretty cool that the episode previews are almost always the exact same length down to the frame, even more consistent than the eyecatches! Having dabbled in video editing myself, it a...
