Vocal sentences in earlier games
Just a quick thread because back then, with NES and Super NES and perhaps PLAYSTATION, full sentences did not come up very often and were left untranslated.
So it could be nice if people shared what they know characters said in those very rare sentences (not counting grunts and special moves).
Despite having gone through all the Super Butoden (+ Hyper Dimension) games many times, there's still very few I can tell:
SUPER BUTODEN 2:
GOKU: "It's your turn, Gohan!" (said when starting the game, before seeing Gohan fly towards God's sanctuary, originally said when Goku has given up and says Gohan will be the next one to face Cell).
GOHAN: "Dad!" (said if the player succeeds in unlocking the true final battles, when Goku appears because he has been granted a day to fight his son in a friendly match).
BROLY: "Kakarotto..." (not too hard to translate, said if the player succeeds in unlocking the true final battles, when Broly appears searching for Goku or when the player unlocks the secret characters).
HYPER DIMENSION:
PICCOLO: "Sorry I kept you waiting..." (said as his intro animation when removing his cape, originally used when he arrives on the battlefield against Freezer).

There's the beginning of Super Butoden 3 with Vegeta's "Shobu da, Kakarotto!" I forget what Goku says in return. Is it, "Koitsu, Vegeta!"...?
There's a ton in the PS1 era, especially in Idainaru... when you go to the in-battle character screen when everyone starts narrating and commenting. UB22 has all the laughably-drawn pre-match animations, and Final Bout has the post-character select comments, ending-match comments, and super move call-outs.

It did feel terribly awkward in Final Bout, more than in the Spike games, perhaps because seeing only the mouth flap on 2D portraits that don't move is a bit... weirder than on 3D models with at least the camera moving!

The one on the regular ending is much more mysterious, it's a female voice and I think she says "Ki-mi-tsu" in kind of a sweet/playful way (1:35): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H07s69LwNrk
No idea what it could possibly mean, it's a pretty surprising vocal.
HYPER DIMENSION
When winning a fight, Vegetto will say what I think is "Too bad, huh?" (which phonetically sounds like "dzande datta na").
When winning an air fight, he will take the stance he takes right after being "born" and say his "Okay!!" or "Alright!!".
Piccolo winning a ground fight will make his cape pop up and say something I absolutely don't understand (see mark 2:20): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=galGF7gHZ0Q
Perhaps something like "Is that all you can do?"

The dialogue would be a cover from when Majin Vegeta rushes towards Goku, starting the fight.
Vegeta must say something like "Get ready!" or "I'm coming!" and Goku replies "Come, Vegeta!" which could likely be better translated in context as something like "I'm ready, Vegeta!" or "I'm waiting for you, Vegeta!" or anything that would convey the message "go on, you can come at me, I'm ready to start the fight".

Those SB2 ending bits always mystified me. Why does a random guy come in and yell "DRAGON BALL Z" at the end?
Also, SB1 has a bunch of weird voice clips in its sound test that I haven't even been able to trigger in the game. There's the special move ones that only play in mirror matches (which is bizarre in itself) as well as Piccolo and Gohan yelling each other's name if the other dies in the final battle against Cell... but there's a bunch more I don't recognise. Doing a quick skim of the sound test: 2B, 2C, 43, 44, 47, 4B, 53, 56, 57, 5A. Of course, some of these might be used somewhere or there might be others that -are- unused; I've never exactly been an expert at Super Butouden 1 and the last serious playthrough I've done is probably close to a decade ago.
Additionally, 4F through 52 seem to be Goku quotes for beating the game (at different difficulty levels? I'm just pulling from really old memory now) The last one sounds really bizarre.
On another note, who's the person doing the "continue" announcements? It's really hard to tell with the scratchyness of most of the voice clips in the game (though some of them are oddly a lot clearer than others--maybe there were space issues and they had to make a decision on which clips were more important to keep in higher quality?)

C-18 is the one talking to you during the Game Over if I remember well.
When the countdown starts, she asks her famous "Wanna go on?" (something like "Tsuzuki yanno") that she said against Vegeta.
If you accept, she says the next reply she said to Vegeta: "I knew you'd say that." (something like "So kone kucha").
Otherwise, there's her "See ya!" (something like "Ja ne") that must be used when the player chooses to give up.
The mysterious voices you were mentionning are used for big blasts, they are reaction if the character tried to do something against it and depends on if they failed or succeeded (sometimes with corresponding animations, for example if C-18 tried to block and deviate a blast but failed, she stands still when the explosion is over and has to put her torn vest back up if my memory doesn't play tricks on me).
Those are lines like "Fool!", "You bastard!", "Wah ha ha!!" and such...

Wow, I guess you're better at listening to Japanese than me.

^ Careful cause those might be available only during mirror matches, and if I remember well, you need to unlock the secret characters with the secret code to have mirror matches (I might be wrong on that).
At least I think I remember additionnal vocals such as attack names and blast reactions were only available if the character was fighting himself, which a lot of people find weird.
I have a theory on that, also it seems strange to me cause I thought SNES basically had pretty much instant memory access to all data of the games.
But the only explanation I see is that during a fight, half of the accessible vocal sound data is for player 1, the other half is for player 2. So both characters have to be limited to their essential sounds (grunts and screams).
But when a character fights himself, the game can use half for this character... and the other half for more vocals on this same character.
This might be related to the fact that it is sometimes stated by players that the vocal samples in the first Super Butoden are of an amazing sound quality compared to the much more compressed vocals in subsequent releases (probably done so that characters could access all of their grunts and attack names due to the reduced size for vocals).
Remember that it's just a theory of mine to find a logic as to why additionnal vocals for a character require mirror matches and why the vocal samples were possibly much more compressed and that "problem" removed in subsequent releases.
It is absolutely not an official statement, nor a statement by someone able to understand the programming logic of a game!

That's actually quite possible... would also explain why subsequent games didn't have the blast reaction vocals at all. Or why all the voices in Hyper Dimension sound like the voice actors are talking into a pillow.
