Re: Could Dr. Gero have been inspired by Dr. Robotnik?
I have always felt the Planet M2 arc in GT is very Sonic like though. The planet is turned into metal, its inhabitants replaced with robots, and Myu kind of does feel like Robotnik somewhat. And Pan's repeated failed attempts to reach Myu feel like playing through a Sonic stage, before dying over ...

Could Dr. Gero have been inspired by Dr. Robotnik?
In the manga, the Namek arc ended on June 18th 1991, and the Cell arc started on June 25th 1991, between them was the release of Sonic 1.
Robotnik notoriously builds flickies into robots, which is kind of similar to how Gero made humans into cyborgs.
Sure, on paper, that seems like a reach, but we ...

I liked the Ginyu Froce fight and didn't feel we needed a fight beyond that. I could have done without a Freeza form though.

Re: Would you prefer Yamcha to be stronger than Krillin?
It might have been good for the 22nd Budokai arc as Yamcha was putting over the new villain, but other than that, I don't see it impacting the story much.

Re: Celebrating 25 years since Dragon Ball first aired in the UK and Ireland
Oh I stand corrected on Sailor Moon - thanks for that!
It seems the TV Stations wanted to milk DB IP as much as they wanted to here. Instead of airing DB alongside DBZ, just do one show at a time.

Re: Celebrating 25 years since Dragon Ball first aired in the UK and Ireland
It still feels surreal that the UK got DBZ much later than the US did. I always thought 1996 was late for us.
We've been later than the US getting pretty much everything, except for the Kid Buu saga and GT, which we actually got before the US.
OG DB didn't air here until late 2003, which was ...

Re: Celebrating 25 years since Dragon Ball first aired in the UK and Ireland
Wow, that is quite the trip down memory lane. It used to always confuse me with the voices changing between Funi and Westwood!
Yeah, it was so random when the Ocean cast returned after we got the same switch to the inhouse cast as almost all non-European countries that got the English dubs ...

Re: Goku as SEGA mascot?
Interestingly enough, DBZ Buyuu Retsuden, DBZ Shin Butouden, and DBZ Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu are the only Dragon Ball games released on Sega consoles. Buyuu Retsuden is the only Dragon Ball game for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. Shin Butouden and Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu are the only ...

Re: If Toonami is shut down for good
Yeah, if we're specifically talking anime then yeah streaming has definitely become the way to go for it. However if we're talking overall than I wouldn't put broadcast TV as irrelevant.

Re: If Toonami is shut down for good
So call this anecdotal, but in my case people still use linear channels as an option and its not strictly something being consumed in elderly homes . I'm sure over time less people will be watching them though.
I'd say it depends on the country. Here in Argentina, even though streaming has ...

Re: Do New Forms Actually Sell Merchandise?
I mean, new forms give new chances for merchandise, but I don't think new forms are made only to sell merchandise.
Plus I think new forms is a staple DBZ trope at this point, like how Super Sonic was made as a homage to DB.

Always had it in my head-canon that Movie 4 took place in a universe where the Genki Dama defeated Freeza.
