Re: Looks like Japan have finally ditched the Son "Gokou" spelling!

More Japanese businesses seem to be moving towards globalization, and by that I mean just adapting their works to fit western sensibiliies. I don't know how widespread this is, but it's happening with Dragon Ball, and it's happening with TakaraTomy and Hasbro with Transformers. Takara used to have h...

Are they going to start using Korin and Hercule next?

Re: Brice Armstrong (Captain Ginyu, Lord Slug) passed away

That's sad to hear...

I really liked him as the narrator in Dragon Ball. I feel he was the closest to matching Jouji Yanami of all of the narrators in English Dragon Ball.

Re: Looks like Japan have finally ditched the Son "Gokou" spelling!

Update. Dub spellings have now hit Japan for Vegetto, Freeza & Boo. It's over... Dub spellings hit everyone overseas this past year so was only inevitable that Japan would get infected. I just don't understand why they're doing this... Why are Bandai (and Toei?) letting an inferior foreign product ...

Re: "Stealth" Kaioken

That was just an anime thing to hide the reveal that he had been using Kaioken. In the manga, which had no color, he had been using it all the time, but the audience didn't know until Kaio revealed that he was using it.

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I've been wanting to check out the Westwood dub for years now. I've only seen a few clips, and was first made aware of it in like... 2002 on some Geocities page that had a clip of the Buu-arc tournament where Vegeta says he knows garden gnomes stronger than Mr. Satan, and was confused why it was the...

When I think of early Schemmel, I think of his "Oh no!" and "Now you will know the horror Frieza!!!". Sorry, but he was so awful and cringeworthy back then.
You mean the "OHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" When Vegeta takes off before the Ginyu fight? That always gets a laugh out of me.

In Toriyama's recent interview on the Broly movie. He wasn't even sure if the Broly trio would make a return in the story.
Wow....

Then what was the point in him surviving and Goku trying to become buddies with him and hinting that Goku would be training with him?

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I love the youth and innocence Corlett brings to Goku, but the scripts he was dealt made his Goku seem too smart and heroic. Kelams tapped into the martial artist and idiocy much better, and I overall prefer him, but I feel that if Corlett had stuck around, and the dub in general had been around lon...

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I'm SUUUUUUPER glad that, while I lost a large chunk of my FUNimation single DVDs, I still have, and even a year or two ago finally completed my Pioneer release of the Ocean dubbed material. It was also through these discs that I finally got to see the uncut movie 3 dub. While the TV one is what I'm...

Re: Hosting a Q&A panel with Vic Mignogna

This reminds me of the time Derek Padula wanted to interview Gerard Jones who was imprisoned for child pornography, which is of course, worse than what Vic did, but why do people keep wanting to interview people who have done shitty things? Is it coincidence, or is there something poisoning the well...

Re: Yet Another Dub Error

So, here's my question. Who here has what episodes on the Singles? If there was ever a comparison done on line changes, it might be helpful to know who has what, so no one has to drop $60 on like, three episodes, you know? I think I have most of the Cell Games discs, except the last one. I have the...

Re: Yet Another Dub Error

I see, I thought it might have been like the Garlic Jr. arc line about Gohan and Piccolo hating each other, which was corrected for the home release and future airings. Yeah. I guess it was the first take, but then they remembered that the lines were altered originally and rushed to change it. But t...

Re: Yet Another Dub Error

There's a lot of random inconsistencies with the Remastered dub that basically speak to it being haphazardly thrown together from multiple elements with little regard for consistency (ironic because the whole selling point of being a "remastered" dub is to create that consistency). An example I fou...

Re: Yet Another Dub Error

Yeah, while the Blu-ray sets technically most of the time have more detail in the footage, it's also riddled with strange edges and remnants of the grain which makes it look terrible in motion (especially when they employ shoddy motion tracking to counterbalance the cropping, which makes it look nau...

Yep. Episode 164.
For the Blurays or Orange Bricks?
Only the Blu-ray. The Orange Brick has every title intact in the English side and the Japanese side.

Re: Yet Another Dub Error

The problem with the Single DVDs is price and availability. At this point, some "Frieza" discs are low in availability, and stupidly expensive as a result (one is up to $60 on both Amazon and eBay!), so it can be a time-consuming and expensive endeavor at this point. It's sad, because I've gotten r...

Re: Yet Another Dub Error

Yeah, I remember someone bringing up this error before in the 30th anniversary thread I believe. The season set BDs had the issue too I believe, but not the Orange Bricks. I know the season BDs had a missing title card as well, which is just insane.

Re: Dub Mistake #4,862: Piccolo Has Always Hated Gohan?

Lends further credence to my theory that this was the first take; it's known the OBs often used incorrect takes, missed lines, used the early arrangements of the Faulconer score, etc. The craziest part is that this character was redubbed (was it by J. Michael Tatum?) in the season sets, and they re...
