The Dragon Ball Super manga, combined with Battle of Gods, Resurrection 'F' and Broly is definitely, to me the most consistently enjoyable and logical sequel. There are still some odd decisions and awkward characterizations, but by and far feels the most in-line with Dragon Ball/Z, Solid 8.5/10

Was is ever stated why Kai was the only series to have the previous episode recap before the opening song?
Dragon Ball, Z, GT, and even Super which came out after Kai, all started with the opening song, followed by the previous episode recap. Kai is the only one to have the recap play at the start of the episode, before the opening. Not a complaint or anything, but was there ever a reason given for this?

Re: Super anime vs Super manga
I honestly can't think of a single thing the manga did better than the anime for me.
The main characters, especially Goku and Vegeta, actually feel like themselves and not absurd caricatures. Watching DBK Buu Saga Goku than jumping to the DBS manga actually feels like the same person. The first ...

Re: Super anime vs Super manga
The Anime has higher highs, but way lower lows. Episodes 39, 56, 66, 94, 95, 110, 130, and 131 are standouts in their respective saga's that surpass their respective equivalents in the Manga, but overall I would say the manga is better, and certainly feels more in-line character wise with Dragon ...

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
Honestly, the use of the 30th anniversary footage is the teeniest price to pay to watch a version of the Boo Saga that's not an ungodly long slog. I'd imagine at a certain point maybe he considered other options but since he had to as he put it do basically f rame-by-frame editing? At a certain ...

Does anybody know what audio was used for this outside of DBZ Kai? Vegeta's respect scene in particular (Episode 35) and theres some voice acting that isnt present in either the Kai or og Funi Dub.

Idk but any leak that is tied to geekdom I tend to automatically not trust. Still waiting for that full DBZ remaster he promised back in 2018/19 when Toei did the two TV specials to hype up DBS Broly.

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]
Anybody know what the more notable artistic decisions are on this Buu recut? I always enjoy that changelog sort of thing, or highlights about the more notable problem solving in editing etc. I trust the judgment here though, since Recut was so excellently done. This is actually the only fan edit ...

Wow, that’s really exciting! I was probably one of the few on here who actually enjoyed Kai TFC for what it was, but really interested in seeing a genuine manga-accurate cut of the Buu saga.

100% expected the Kikuchi score for Kai so not really disappointed on that front. I don't know why I had hopes of the green tint getting fixed but forgot how ugly raw Kai TFC is. The color correction edit from a few years back is still the only way to enjoy Kai TFC.

Whats up with the audio mixing for the two Super movie's English dub?
Funi/Crunchyroll cranked the bass way too much. I assumed the audio mix from Broly was a mistake, but seeing as Super Hero has the same issue this has to be intentional.
Is it just me who's noticed this? I've seen people complaining about the green tint online (100% a Toei issue not blaming Funi ...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
Yeah of course what Kineko shows looks much better overall, I would prefer to watch the movies like that and not how Toei made them.
but if these have a small negative point, like the dark details not being that good, (something that could be fixed apparently)
it is not necessary to bring the ...

So does that mean you're fine with how the Kineko darks look? Or is it like orange bricks?
Yeah this is exactly like the orange bricks
With just a slight black adjustment it's far better than the Orange Bricks/steel books and reasonably close to the 2018 masters...and it takes far less ...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
@DHM211
Check the Kineko discord server, it was explained that the raw scan is 12-bit 4:4:4 and nearly 800GB just for 17 minutes. Data like that stores more dynamic range that is invisible to us on our 8-bit displays. You can shift colour and light information from the 12-bit ranges into 8 ...
