I give Seed of Might and other fan groups major credit for all the hard work they've done preserving this great series; god knows the official rights holders don't give a shit about it. Does anyone know if the movies are getting color corrected, or is the white balanced version they released last year the final version of them they plan on releasing ?

I know; it was a white balance, not a full color correct like what the three series have received.TechExpert2021 wrote: Mon Dec 08, 2025 1:25 pmThe SoM color-corrected versions of the DB movies were released last year. The Dark Knight wrote: Mon Dec 08, 2025 9:34 am Does anyone know if the movies are getting color corrected, or is the white balanced version they released last year the final version of them they plan on releasing ?

Honestly they look so good I don't feel cc is truly necessary for the films. Speaking of the Z cc, I really hope they are able to make some magic happen on the super bleached Vegetto and Kid Buu episodes! I know they did some for the bleached DB episodes but I'm not sure too much of the before and after of them . I just know those Z episodes lose a lot of detail that I myself tried to bring back in but to no avail.

Well, if AB Groupe's team ain't gonna continue doing the color corrected Blu-Rays, then this is the next best thing. I've been waiting for this for a while. May even reboot my idea to recut the DBox footage to the DBZ Kai audio. I know there's other projects attempting to do similar, but I wanna take a crack at it. The only problem I'd have is locating certain shots in the recaps to the original series. It'd also give me the ability to even make versions of the episodes that cut out the dumb fillers that were left in of scenes not from the manga that drag down the pacing & what not.
The movies just needed a white balance correction & maybe some minor color correction to take care of the green tints since, for some reason, Toei's team keeps tinting the movies & Kai: TFC as for cinema screens rather than TV screens, which makes absolutely no sense why they do.Metalwario64 wrote: Mon Dec 08, 2025 3:19 pm Honestly they look so good I don't feel cc is truly necessary for the films. Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

There is a project exactly like this called DBox Sync To Kai, you can check the updates in the link below! Additionally, look up Dragon Ball Z Recut from Team Kienzan on this forum as we have our own thread. In response to your second point.
Finally, I think a lot of people are waiting for the DBZ CC. It will definitely be a big moment for not just the Dragon Ball community, but also preservation in general! Doing what Toei won't.
Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
Using the fucking Sonic Unleashed theme here caught me way off-guard. That thing is way too cheerful for some of the violence on-screen, haha.
Anyway, looks good.

I'm aware of the various DB recut projects, mainly from Milkman. I still wanna take a crack at it myself, though, since 1 of the reasons I didn't continue my own is because I hated that the DBox footage wasn't color corrected. I also have absolutely no knowledge of color correction, nor the patience & time to wanna learn how to do it. Now, that problem's taken care of.Hydrus wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 2:45 am There is a project exactly like this called DBox Sync To Kai, you can check the updates in the link below! Got it. Yeah I think the sync project I linked will use the CC footage once that is released. So no more blurry Kai footage. Just the DBOX Footage with the superb Kai English Dub.Scsigs wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 8:52 pmI'm aware of the various DB recut projects, mainly from Milkman. IT IS HERE!!!!

Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
I'm sorry, but why do these people never compress the files in .265 instead of .264? It preserves quality better than .264 & makes the file sizes smaller. I literally take their files & compress them down with .265. Cuts them down by a LOT.

Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
I'm doing that as the episodes finish downloading. I'm also just getting rid of audio that's not JP or FUNi's 1999 dub because, & this may seem like heresy to some...I don't care about the Saban edited Ocean dub. Due to it being edited down & incomplete, I...just don't give a shit about it. I'd rather have separate video files of those versions of the episodes.Metalwario64 wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 1:55 pmYeah... But, yeah, my compression takes almost 4GB files & brings them down to 3-400mb, which helps with external hard drive storage. I know people will talk about grain retention, but it's a standard def animated show that was already compressed for the DBox DVDs & not an HD Blu-Ray release. On the discs, the episodes are, at most, 800mb-1GB depending on how many episodes are on each disc. As long as the colors are actually good & there's less of a problem with crushed blacks due to them using the R1 DBoxes, I'm fine with this. I've also done the same with the OG DB & GT color corrected projects. I've taken a look at a few episodes before & after the compression & I can't see any notable degrade in the quality.
Oh, here's DBZimraman's video on this release if anyone's curious.

Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
Damn.. Ulitmate Uncut audio is out on this version. Guess I'll have to splice the recaps from the first few episodes from the orange bricks because the "remastered" dub on the Blu-rays changed the recap and title card theme from Nathan Johnson's score for no damn good reason.

Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
I will never understand this obsession with x264. The excuse of better compatibility is complete BS as most modern devices support x265. 1tb for a bunch of 480p episodes is absolutely inexcusable.Scsigs wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 3:05 am I'm sorry, but why do these people never compress the files in .265 instead of .264? I was looking forward to it, even though I prefer Kai, but I'll be skipping this sadly.

Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
Yeah I'm glad the quality remains as "near master" with the encode settings. This allows anyone to re-encode to whatever x265 settings they want for the level of quality they deem acceptable. Want to remove some audio tracks you'll never listen to? Want to convert them to a lossy format to save more space? You're free to do so.
You can't "undo" any quality loss, blocking, etc. problems from a lower bitrate x265 encode. I'm not sure where this idea came from that Seed of Might uses x264 over x265 for compatibility in 2025. x265 doesn't handle lower res or grainy sources as well as it handles modern 4K sources. It seems kinda silly to skip watching something because the encode is "too high quality". Those happy with the high quality settings, and even those who want to adjust the release to their preferred settings, have the right attitudes.

Re: Seed of Might: Dragon Ball Z Color Correction trailer
I might have a lot of space on my storage drive, but i shouldn't be wasting an entire terabyte for one show, not even a show I love, especially at 480p per episode. Asking people to do that is ridiculous, particularly those who can't or don't know how to convert them over to x265. I don't see how x265 is a problem, but compatibility is usually the excuse for using x264.vanner64 wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 11:35 pm Yeah I'm glad the quality remains as "near master" with the encode settings. Like I said, no excuse for not using x265 in 2025.
