Re: With DragonBall getting more and more global, it's time to include more lgbtqia+ characters
I think that if Tien showed up one day at a party or something with a boyfriend that'd be alright, but an entire episode or arc dedicated towards exploring Tien's sexuality wouldn't make sense in Dragon Ball. Tien: Hey guys, this is my husband, X. Goku: Wow Tien, so you're a wife now? Yamcha: *burs...

Re: Viz's Print Edition of the "Full Colour Comics" Discussion
Damn, these were an amazing release that I was really looking forward to buying in its entirety. The size and quality of the pages makes the art look amazing. It's also the only release of the manga that my partner is actually able to read, due to the size.

Was Kaioshin's role as a creator a retcon?
In Dragon Ball I always got the impression that the Kaio and Kaioshin were something like overseers/rulers of the universe who sometimes step in as divine protectors in the right circumstance. Super seemed to reshape them as gods who create stars, planets and life, reflecting gods of destruction. Wa...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
At this point, I'm probably never going to buy a Dragon Ball home release again unless it's a 4:3, high quality HD release without colour issues. And honestly, that sounds like such a demanding nitpicky list of requirements but it should be the default. That is the basic starting point for a bog sta...

Re: Did Gowasu and Zamasu should replace Shin and Kibito in the Buu Arc?
I actually think Gowasu should have been the Kaioshin of Universe 6, with him and Zamasu present at the Tournament of Destroyers. Goku ticks Zamasu off early on before the tournament even starts by challenging him to a fight after he's introduced as a prodigy, then the mortals continue to shock him ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - Announcement & Discussion Thread
Given how Super got off to such a bad start, suffering poor reviews which marred its reputation for long afterwards, largely due to half a year of retreading old material, I'd very much like to avoid the same mistake being made again, especially since Broly had such spectacular animation that the se...

Re: God Ki as a concept.. was the ball dropped?
They really did begin to mess up the concept of god ki as early as Ressurection F. I feel they could have handled it much better by introducing Blue as an intermediary stage that taps into a little god ki but doesn't actually become a god, so is way above SSJ but way below SSG. Blue would then be th...

If Toriyama had written Super in 1995
Imagine a parallel universe where Akira Toriyama, approaching his conclusion to the Buu arc in the manga, feels like he wants to keep going. He's enjoyed his time without editors coming down on him so hard and his return to a more comedic style of Dragon Ball. He's found a newenergy and he has some ...

Re: Do you like Kikuchi Kai?
The usage of Kikuchi's score in Kai was criminal. Toei had so much to work with given his extensive library of music and they unnecessarily hindered themselves by using the same 5-6 track for 90% of the show and placing them in scenes that weren't appropriate for usage. As I understand it, the way ...

Do you like Kikuchi Kai?
Personally, apart from in a few scenes where it does really well (such as Goku first going SSJ) I find the placement of Kikuchi's music in Kai to be a negative point, so much that I seek out fan recreations of the Yamamoto placement or Kikuchi placements closer to DBZ. Do you view Kai with Kikuchi p...

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?
From what I've seen, there are a lot of toxic people that have watched and talk about DBZ out there on YouTube, Reddit and so on, but the actual fandom, found in places like this and made up of people who consider Dragon Ball a big part of their lives, is as good as you can reasonably expect from a ...

Do you consider the episodes of Kai 1.0 that you've releases first drafts or the finished product? Thanks for your work all the same.

Re: If they made a Dragon Ball Kai for Pre-Z Dragon Ball
Kai should have covered the entire manga to begin with, in the style of Kai 1.0. It would have been a fantastic product that would have sold very well oversees and a much better way to recruit a new generation of fans. They might have needed a bigger merchandising push, with extensive new lines of a...

Re: How would you write a Grand Finale arc for the franchise?
How would I end it? I think GT's ending was a fine send-off. There were no more galactic-level threats to deal with, so just assume that the senshi lived in peace for the rest of their days until a new generation of adventurers came along. Except I wouldn't even use Goku Jr. I'd cut out the middlem...

Re: How would you write a Grand Finale arc for the franchise?
Two arcs that we've seen, the Shadow Dragons arc and the Universe Survival arc, have the potential to be a grand finale for the series if treated that way. The Tournament of Power obviously wasn't treated that way at all in the Super anime and so wouldn't actually be a good ending as it stands, and ...

Did Super retcon the compass Kaioshins?
In DBZ we hear that there used to be four compass Kaioshins and a Grand Kaioshin. In Super we only ever see one Kaioshin as the God of Creation of a universe, standing opposite a God of Destruction, and sometimes an apprentice. Has Super retconned the five Kaioshins out of existence, and was Shin no...

Re: Question for those who read the Manga
Its more about their emotional delivery, cadence, and tone of speech than it is the actual words themselves, which my mind is processing almost in separate section of my brain than the part that's hearing the Japanese voices. I suppose our brains are doing something very similar to what they do whe...

Re: Question for those who read the Manga
Like others have said, I hear the Japanese cast, but because the sounds and intonation in Japanese are so different to English, I can't really imagine them speaking the English words (unless I force it and it becomes strongly accented English) so it's more of a vague noise of what their voice sounds...
