Re: Which character in which saga would you say is the best written character in the Franchise?

Majin Vegeta arc is some of the best character writing in any Shonen Jump thing I've read. DBZ is an action cartoon made for kids, yet they still managed to give Vegeta a really compelling, mature story arc about what is essentially his midlife crisis. Can't say I've seen many stories tackle what a ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Singles - Faithful to Broadcast?

IIRC the Krillin gets impaled episode was cut from the editeds entirely and they slapped the few usable minutes of footage onto the next episode.

Re: Should the series introduce God forms for other races?

Sure, why not? I'd prefer transformations to bullshit power scaling. There's no way Master Roshi is stronger than Raditz on his own, but if they were to throw him some sort of transformation before the RoF/ToP arcs, his inclusion would make much more sense. The Nameks might have some ancient techniq...

Re: Next movie teaser... Raditz eating an apple while sitting on Daishinkan's corpse...

Is Raditz even popular enough of a character to bring back? I would think they’d be more likely to “canonize” Cooler over resurrecting the long forgotten starter villain of the Saiyan arc. I agree, but he is Goku's underutilized brother, and he's probably more well known among casual fans than Cool...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Singles - Faithful to Broadcast?

The DVDs were all uncut so those weren't accurate. The VHS tapes were released in two types, both edited and uncut for each tape starting with the Captain Ginyu stuff when Funi started dubbing in-house. If the tape said uncut, it was uncut, if it didn't mention anything about that it was the edited ...

Re: What do you want with Broly?

No, I'm saying what if Freeza does that in the future, like if that "Freeza comes back" story arc happens like a year after the Broly film or something. I do agree with your point about Kale. Gohan's agreed to balance but he's still a familyman who has to spend a significant portion of his time work...

Re: What do you want with Broly?

Tricky thing with Broly is you don't want to assimilate him into the main cast too much or else EoZ comes into question, because why isn't he at the tournament? So whatever they do with him next, they should give him some sort of off-world obligation. Helping out a planet or something, some reason t...

Re: Could a "Dragon Ball: Next Generation" show work?

DBS Broly is a better written character than most of the ones in this franchise. He's got an interesting backstory, and a whole future story arc set up and everything. I don't agree on any of those counts. What was interesting about his backstory? Why does backstory matter that much? And what futur...

Re: Could a "Dragon Ball: Next Generation" show work?

The problem with Oob is he’s bland as shit. He couldn’t lead a series to save his life. But if we're ignoring GT, he's not bland as shit. He's a timid kid who wants to earn money for his village, and that's a decent enough basis for a character. You can develop him as it goes on. Toriyama made it w...

Re: Is Dragon Ball creatively bankrupt at this point?

Design-wise, sure. But function-wise and story-wise, it's new ground for the series. Instead of Goku and Vegeta racing for the same transformations, Goku's are gonna branch off into ones that focus on natural non-thinking "instinctive" movements, and Vegeta's will focus on being mentally active. The...

Re: Is Dragon Ball creatively bankrupt at this point?

It's not creatively bankrupt, BoG was totally fresh for the franchise. However the rest of Super likes to redo old villains/ideas or tackle ideas fans have been asking for (eg. Evil Goku). Even this new Moro arc isn't totally new, since Moro as a villain is pretty much King Piccolo meets Cell/Buu. H...

I don't think it's that odd, they can go 2 chapters without mentioning the events of DBS. They talk about Buu cause they gotta introduce Uub.

4:3 Both Kikuchi and Falconer NEPs included in the correct order, subbed AND dubbed 1080p is all I need although 4k would be "ideal" I guess Digital Downloads included, maybe linked to an account for unlimited downloads in case I lose the first digital copy somehow Broadcast audio is included Color...

Re: Has DBS Added Too Many Storylines & Elements To Match Up Believably With Z's Final Chapter?

Bulma's "5 years" line might stop being accurate (it might already not be) if they keep going but ultimately DBS doesn't contradict EOZ at all. Beerus and Whis are somewhere else. Broly is somewhere else. Freeza is somewhere else. EOZ still works.

Re: What is your opinion about the artistic style of Dragon Ball Super?

The artstyle itself is fine, although the animation quality was shoddy a lot of the time. I think the crazy effects and attacks fit how crazy unbelievable strong everyone is now.

As far as good artstyle though, the Broly film was excellent. I wish Dragon Ball was animated like that from now on.

Re: Ideas for Kakarot 2?

Original DB should be it's own game. Super can be its own game but could also just be DLC for the first one. Some basic ideas are More quest variety. There were only 3 types of quests and the fetch quests in particular were kinda awful. less "I THINK I CAN HANDLE THIS" One or two new combat mechanic...

There are specific scenes that were touched up/reanimated for the Bluray release because the broadcast versions were rushed. But I don't think your pic there has anything to do with that.

Re: Is it time to accept Faulconer OST did it better than the original?

Title implies that those who prefer Kikuchi are in denial LOL And no. Faulconer's score is cool but I like Kikuchi's better. Arguing over "modern" is pointless as both scores are dated at this point. Kikuchi's just works better for me, I like the songs more most of the time. Although there's some gr...

Re: Goku's long absences in the story

I don't mind Goku being out of commission at times, because a lot of the supporting cast is interesting and I love it when characters like Gohan/Vegeta/Trunks get a solid chunk of screentime. The problem with it is that Toriyama started using it as a crutch, it turned into a formula he'd repeat ever...
