Re: Dragon Ball Z: Level 1.1

I may very well have to buy Level 1.1 used at this point. It's out of print, correct?

I was very lucky in picking up a new Level 1.2 from Amazon's marketplace.

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

@uzuni I would have recommended you buy the set I got which was apparently only sold in Canadian markets, but it looks like it's unavailable for the most part... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00GJUQ0CW/ The "box" (if you could call it that) that houses all nine bulky digipaks is really just a...

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

The Dragon Box really does look gorgeous. I wonder if I really do need the Faulconer track... I'm having second thoughts now. The FUNimation dub with the original Z music does sound a bit out of place so better to watch with the score it was written in mind. It's unlikely FUNi will re-dub Z but gre...

Re: Really bad compression on orange bricks?

Do you have pics of the ones you received? Are they one to.one copies.or are they burned onto single layee discs? They are those exactly. They look perfectly legitimate on the exterior. But the discs are single layered, and very badly compressed. That really sucks :( cant you post some screen shots...

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

I bought them as a bundle from a marketplace seller. I'll be returning that and buying them individually by Amazon's price.

I've decided that near the end of Season 4 or beginning of Season 5, the Orange Bricks look better than the Blu-rays.

Re: Really bad compression on orange bricks?

I've just fallen prey to this same scam! These counterfeit discs are still being sold, it seems. DO NOT buy this product from Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Dragon-Complete-Uncut-Seasons-54discs/dp/B00XKMOB1O That said, does anyone know where I can buy a complete legitimate set of the Orange Bricks?...

Re: Orange Bricks vs Blu-Ray Season Sets

I'd contend that while the Blu-rays look superior for the first three seasons, the Orange Bricks look superior from season 4 onward. Specifically, starting from episode 128, it no longer has that blisteringly bright contrast in its color.

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

Most OB discs are DVD9 while a few are DVD5, IIRC. Buying either the DVD or the Blu-ray version is a waste and you'll never get your money back from trying to resell, if you then plan on getting a superior release. Well, the ones I received were all compressed to DVD5! And look absolutely terrible....

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

It appears I've been duped by Amazon!

I just recently bought all of the Orange Bricks, only to receive a counterfeit product. And I'm not the first: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26040

Would I be better off in buying them individually rather than together?

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

I've just had a realization. Can anyone here who owns the Orange Bricks please confirm for me whether the discs are in fact 8.5 GB or 4.7 GB? My DB Dragon Box discs are 7.8GB, while the Blue Bricks are about 7.4GB. Hope that helps! How about the Orange Brick discs, if you own them? I believe I've b...

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

I will when I have a chance. They're the Orange Brick transfers, but much less fuzzy.

I think another reason why they look so crap is that they're on 4.7GB discs. Whereas the Dragon Box, for example, uses 8.5GB discs. This only adds to the disparity.

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

For example: https://www.funimation.com/shows/dragon ... g=japanese

Does that look better than the Orange Brick DVD or is it my imagination? What do you guys think? It's the same transfer.

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

I think that, no matter which way you slice it, the Blu-rays look better in every way than the Orange Bricks as far as video quality. When making my previous comparisons, I was actually using Funimation's streams as a reference point. If anyone's noticed, the Japanese audio episodes of DBZ are the O...

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

Even though the Orange Bricks are overall a turdy product, the R1 version is better than the R4 (Madman) simply due to the fact it has alternate angles. In other words, the episode titles can be seen in it's original Japanese form. Also, if I'm being honest, the Orange Bricks' Season 9 looks really...

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

Ah, I see. My next question would be, how does the video from the Australian Madman DVDs and/or the Manga UK DVDs compare to the American Saga Sets and Blue Bricks? The Madman ver. (and the Manga UK - both are the same) are PAL conversions with the resolution in 720x576 whereas the R1 (NTSC) is 720...

Re: Optimal Viewing Experience

I wonder, would the AnimeLab streams of Dragon Ball be of the Madman/MangaUK version?

And, is there any difference in the American, British, or Australian releases of DBGT?
