I bought Vegeta would do something as he is part of the small group that all share the stat trinity of importance. He's also been marketed as important enough so I plausibly believed he might do something. I expected more than a catch, but eh he's gonna get a lot more to do later. Piccolo is unlikely to ever do anything relevant again. He's been irrelevant since either after his fight with 17, or as late as after teaching the boys fusion.Saiga wrote:Yeah that description was incredibly suspicious. Maybe Vegeta could have pulled another rage boost from his ass (MY KAKAROT!) but Piccolo was already shown as completely irrelevant. It was never going to happen.dbzfan7 wrote:Same. I definitely gotta take the summaries with a grain of salt from now on, but I couldn't bring myself to be disappointed because that completely-unexpected princess-carry made the episode for me (and I was already enjoying the episode on the basis of "Wow, outer space looks so cool here."). Fun Gokû and Vegeta interactions are my thing and I wasn't expecting any until the reF arc since BOG and reBOG has always been more VegeBul so this was an exciting surprise for me. :3
As much as I enjoy BOG, I'm happy we're heading into the unknown, even if it is only temporary until the reF arc starts. Finally a taste of not knowing everything that's gonna happen week to week!

I think it was talking about that scene where everyone got on battle stances when Beerus approached, while Vegeta held a fallen Goku, before standing up to fight too. Technically everyone stood there ready to fight, but only Vegeta and Piccolo had lines.Zombie wrote:I will never believe a thing from this previews. The last one heavily implied Piccolo and Vegeta were going to assist Goku and it was fucking bullshit.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm starting to think there could be a little bit more to the de-fusion of "Kibitoshin" than just Toyotaro having fun in the manga adaptation, as Kibito and Kaioshin are being released in the new Super themed WCF line. Girl!Whis is there too, but she's sadly still listed as "New Character" in the tweet I hijacked this from (meaning wherever they found it, it didn't list her name either).

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm actually kinda glad to have them defused back into Kaioshin and Kibito. I like their individual designs better than their fusion's, and this gives Kaioshin someone else to bounce off of that isn't just the old Kai.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I'm starting to think there could be a little bit more to the de-fusion of "Kibitoshin" than just Toyotaro having fun in the manga adaptation, as Kibito and Kaioshin are being released in the new Super themed WCF line. At this point I'm near-convinced Champa's attendant is also named Whis, be it a case where "Whis" is a name like "Kaio" (North West South East etc.) or the theory of them being alternate universe versions of Beerus and Whis. It's gotta be something plot-related. They've gone too long without naming her to have it be for something like a gag.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Kaioshin and Kibito's defusion is too relevant to be just an easter egg that Toyotaro would throw in for no reason. Besides, the biggest point of the manga, according to Shueisha itself, is to hype things yet to come in the anime.
I think the theory that it's foreshadowing a return of Vegetto makes sense. Especially if they keep the end of RoF, and all the hints in the movie about Goku and Vegeta having to forget their pride and fight together again, eventually.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I wouldn't want them to use Vegetto though, because it'd feel like a cheap, cop-out way to work together. Vegetto never had any problems getting stuff done the first time they fused so there isn't anything to work on there. Even Gogeta in Movie 12 got things done quick and to the point (that is when Vegeta did the dance correctly). Neither of their fusions suffered conflicts of what to do/how to solve problems. Vegetto and Gogeta are very efficient guys.
Having Gokû and Vegeta actually work together through team-work like they did during the Inside Buu mini-arc, and then against Kid Buu proper; that sort of thing is what I'd like and enjoy getting to see.

Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegetto fighting Champa would be interesting. I'd love it if Champa defeated him, only to then lose to Gokuu and Vegeta fighting together as two.Araki wrote:Kaioshin and Kibito's defusion is too relevant to be just an easter egg that Toyotaro would throw in for no reason. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Vegetto returning seems unlikely, especially since it was stated more than one time that Goku and Vegeta prefer to fight alone in FnF. Without any basis, I think either Kibito or Kaioshin will be killed to produce an important plot development, with the surviving warning Goku of the new threat (Champa?).
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
That same mentality got the Earth and just about got all of them killed during the battle with Golden Freeza.LightBing wrote:Vegetto returning seems unlikely, especially since it was stated more than one time that Goku and Vegeta prefer to fight alone in FnF. True, but they say it once more after it all happens. They don't seem to have learned anything from it.JulieYBM wrote:That same mentality got the Earth and just about got all of them killed during the battle with Golden Freeza.LightBing wrote:Vegetto returning seems unlikely, especially since it was stated more than one time that Goku and Vegeta prefer to fight alone in FnF. I can see it now. All that Champa stuff will happen at the end of the RoF arc. Whis won't be able to revert time and since Old Kai and Kibitoshin used Namek's Dragon Balls, the gang will not have any choice but to go and get this Super Dragon Balls to restore Earth and it's people.Araki wrote:Kaioshin and Kibito's defusion is too relevant to be just an easter egg that Toyotaro would throw in for no reason. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
The first order of business when any new names are introduced is, obviously, to figure out the name puns.
The name of the planet (sunaku) seems to be a clear modification of how "snack" would be rendered in katakana (snakku). So, as Herms wrote, could be romanized as "snak" or something.
"Garubi", I would guess, is a pun on kalbi (a Korean dish), so I'd probably render it "Galbi" (which, depending on which romanization is being used, is another way the Korean dish can be written in our alphabet).
The description makes me even more curious to know how Super Satan comes about. So if he actually has to fight some guy from outer space and the transformation is not a part of some movie he's making, what exactly is happening there? Is Gohan standing behind him or something and making it seem like Satan is transforming? Or is he just using a lot of special effects (in real life) to pull off the biggest trick of all?

The description actually made it clear that "Super Satan" is a tv performance. Garbi is not the vampire-Beerus, that's an actor, SFX or something.sailorspazz wrote:The description makes me even more curious to know how Super Satan comes about. Garbi is the big, bearded guy who shows up in a different scene, we see Goku facing him instead. That's the "real life" scene, with no Satan transforming at all.
Judging by the title, i think Satan will be forced to replace Goku and beat the alien by a fluke.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I dont think that just because they still prefer fighting alone doesn't mean that they won't work together in the future. Its not a matter of "learning" imo, I'm pretty sure they'll do it once they've had their fun fighting alone or if they're forced into that situation.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
In the fight against Boo after everyone died, they still decided to fight solo. The stakes can't get higher than that. In FnF, they were cocky and got killed. Lucky for them Whis is there. After this, they still have a little chat about preferring to fight individually. I mean, can't be any more literal than this, right? It feels on purpose, Mr.Toriyama saying:"Ok, no more fusions. They were fun but..., too many complications. I know Saiyan pride, always fight alone no matter what happens! Case closed. In case you missed it, NO MORE FUSIONS!!!"."SaiyanZ wrote:I dont think that just because they still prefer fighting alone doesn't mean that they won't work together in the future. That's the signals I'm receiving.

Given that the name of the planet is Planet Snack, I think Garubi is a parody of カルビー (Calbee), the popular Japanese snack maker.sailorspazz wrote:"Garubi", I would guess, is a pun on kalbi (a Korean dish), so I'd probably render it "Galbi" (which, depending on which romanization is being used, is another way the Korean dish can be written in our alphabet).

Since Chichi seems to want money again, I guess we'll see the return of Satan's number 1 pupil, Goku.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Kaioshin and Kibito's defusion is a f***ing BS, in the manga/anime Goku explicitly says to Vegeta that they will never revert the fusion again, that I presume including the Dragon Balls, because the Potara Fusion is way beyond Shenron/Porunga abillities and then out of nowhere is revelead that they can defuse using the DB, just wtf...

No one said that the Dragon Balls can defuse the potara fusion. Goku may have not known that they can't defuse as Vegito later on. If Toriyama made Vegito kill Buu, he would have find a way to defuse Vegito. DBM created the idea that the Dragon Balls can't defuse a potara fusion and fans assume that it would happen in the real series.
