Did Goku know about Goten before the Tournament?

I wasn't able to draw any conclusions from the anime, and I don't have access to a decently translated manga either.

When Goku is brought back by Uranai Baba for the Tournament and meets Goten, did he already know about Goten's existence?
Or did he learn about his second child at that moment?

I mean, it's not exactly unlike Goku to just stay dead even knowing that, specially considering he wanted to protect everyone by not attracting enemies, but nothing indicates he communicated with his family during his dead period.

He didn't know, nor did he care about asking King Kai about his family or friends during that 7 year period, similarly to how he didn't contact his friends for 5 years after the Buu saga.

Goku was much too busy with his training. He couldn't be bothered to look down on the mortal realm from time to time, seeing how his family was doing or even watch the birth of his second son. Much too busy.

You guy are being way too harsh on Goku. You're acting as if he knew one day he could come back to life. As far as Goku, his family and all his friends knew, Goku was dead for good. Goku moved on and so did everyone else.

It's not like he COULDN'T come back to life if he wanted to, the Namekian Dragon Balls could revive him anytime.
Chi Chi could've called him through Kaio and told him he has a second child.

Of course, I'm not saying Goku is a complete asshole, he's just Goku.
