Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I always loved that side of Toriyama. Goku, the main character should always win troupe, not meaning much to him.
It will be interesting to see how things play out.
Toriyama already said they will search for the Super Dragon Balls. They won't search for them if something bad doesn't happen.
Either they lose, or like fadeddreams5 already said, Goku the GOAT, will decide do help them restore the U6 Earth.
Anyway, this tournament is just the first part of something much bigger.

Though this is if the tournament does not abruptly stop which is a possibility.

If there is a training period. Even then the next arc is still the Freeza stuff which was a big waste of time anyways.Araki wrote:If they're selected for Beerus' team, i'm sure there will be a training period for everyone to get ready.dbzfan7 wrote:I think that's a bit too much credit. You should stop jumping to absurd conclusions. You're sounding desperate because you claimed so much the next arc would be all about Goku and Vegeta, and it's not turning out to be that way. You've been warned.
I'm being realistic. From past experiences every person who becomes irrelevant is never used well. From the humans, to Piccolo, to the halflings. It's happened every time. The best they get is a single moment maybe that means nothing in the grand scheme of things, before the real stuff happens. I'd be happy to be wrong since I keep my expectations low so they can be blown away if I am. Also it will be all about Goku and Vegeta probably as I said before as they are the only two people outside the gods that there's any interest in writing for. Notice how Goku and Vegeta since Battle of Gods have been being built up, while no one else has. It'll be just like the Uranai Baba arc. Krillin being embarrassed will be replaced by Gohan. The other fighters might win one before losing. Then it comes down to Goku n Vegeta overcoming the odds of having to beat more foes, then it comes down to captain vs captain.
You're right. It feels just like that. And like that arc everyone pretty much went down early, leaving it to Goku to clean house for the rest of the fights. I see the same thing happening here, except Vegeta lasts longer before it comes down to Goku.Sandubadear wrote:The tournament will probably be like the one in the Uranai Baba arc. 5 people on each team, when one loses on each team, another one will fight against the winner until it's strongest vs strongest.dbzfan7 wrote:Though even if they did train I still expect Goku and Vegeta to have to overcome a 2-5 advantage for the other team, and then Goku having to go 1-1 in the final match with the other captain to decide the winner. See: the poorly-composited Broli, differences in sharpness between various characters, and the fact that most of them are pulled from a previously-existing fan work (which you obviously wouldn't know about if you didn't already know about it!).

It's funny how that Piccolo guy on the left has clearly cut his shoulder straight... such bad photoshop.
Also the art is nowhere near the DBS or Toriyama level.

I can't help but think about Hunter x Hunter's mini tag battle against those prisoners in the Hunter Exam arc when thinking about this tournament. Pretty sure it won't go like that but if they try to juggle things around it might get interesting. I'm guessing a win, a defeat, a tie, maybe another win and then... they lose? Kinda predictable if so but I'd like for them to lose anyway, so...
If they really go with Gotenks, I'd like for him to win, even with all his disadvantages (time limit, gag personality, arrogance, etc). I think Gohan probably loses but not right away, he probably gives a good fight so as to throw a bone to his fans.
Some people think the tournament might get interrupted but I kinda doubt that since they are only 5 against 5. Although, if there's something happening, I want them to be interrupted at the last battle or things gradually escalating with each battle with them noticing there's something wrong with the other team.
Kuririn reminisces about the time he trained with Goku, wants to know how much stronger he is now and asks Goku to hit him.

As expected. That "but" is most likely about having to give Whis super delicious food in exchange or something. The Kuririn bit sounds disappointing, though.Vegeta learns Whis is Beers' teacher and is shocked. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I was really hoping the Kuririn subplot was going to be about him getting his job as a cop. It still could be, I guess, but it is looking less likely.

Maybe the summary is metaphorically describing him wanting to spar but being knocked out in the first punchAvery wrote:The Kuririn bit sounds disappointing, though.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I had predicted it would be something like that, and i'm glad if it is, because it's exactly what we need. I mean, Kuririn was so hesitant to attack Beerus, leaving #18 protect her family instead, but later will decide to come back from retirement to fight Freeza's army. Some build up in-between would be appreciated, and going to Goku could be a result of his recent lack of action.alakazam^ wrote:Maybe the summary is metaphorically describing him wanting to spar but being knocked out in the first punch
How he got his job as a cop isn't that important, with his skills and strength i don't think he needs anyone's help. It's probably just a way to keep his body moving, and if that's the case the idea can be mentioned in the same episode.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So Krillin tried to spar with a Saiyan Beyond God? How amusing
