Do you think there should be a Kai for Dragon Ball?

Post by Thedoctor2016 » Wed Oct 21, 2015 4:46 am

I have just finished the childhood of goku in the manga and it flows much better than the anime so my question do you think there should of been a kai for original dragon ball?

I would love to see it happen because, as you pointed out between Ball and Z the former is better from a story perspective. I'd also be interested to see how TOEI would remaster the series.

Its not impossible considering next year will be the 30th anniversary of the anime in Japan, but I don't think its very likely because Z is much more popular, and since Super is already ongoing TOEI may not want to risk confusing new fans of the franchise by releasing a series that takes place earlier in the timeline.

Yeah really Dragon ball Kai should have done the WHOLE series not just Z as i love both parts of the story i love yamacha and Ten san and master roshi due to Dragon ball as they are useless in Z but pretty good in DB

Yes cause it'll make watching it alongside Kai flow better due to both being closer to the manga but I doubt it'll happen due to it not being as popular as Z.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Am I stupid that I think of DB and DBZ as one show just named differently maybe due to the manga I just count them as the same and don't really like separating them that's why Kai just being Z upsets me tbh

Yes Dragon Ball is heavily, heavily, heavily underrated.

Yes, Dragon Ball is incredibly outdated and outright painful to watch. The Kai treatment would benefit it. Though, I very much doubt that will ever happen.

I'm not sure if that's even be possible, given how closely the filler is woven into the story on the show.

No. A lot of the original actors have passed on, the first Kai was a production mess and arguably hurt the franchise more than anything, The most egregious examples of padding can honestly be skipped, Super just showed a flashback to that era and it looked like vomit...

I have no idea how people can stomach the Freeza arc but then say "the Red Ribbon Army stuff is so long and boring."

No. The original anime was very well paced in my opinion and still hold up very well to this day. And besides, Toei don't have a good track record with remakes either.

I think it might have to do with how Z is more popular than Dragon Ball. They might have been hesitant to invest into the project. Probably will never happen.

Too much filler and slow episodes in Dragonball. Making a Kai for the series would greatly benefit from it. It'll also introduce the series to new fans alike that haven't experienced how the series began! I didn't watch Dragonbalk until early last year.

Maybe but as people have said, the filler is woven into the story and there's also not a lot of filler in DB compared to Z.

No, I think Dragonball should stay vintage. There are only a few fights that still look good by today's standards, and I don't want to see people griping over badly recolored/reanimated parts of the cherished classic.
