Are you serious? You mean no offense, but you call her an offensive (and extremely childish) name? :eh:

As for the topic, I think Abridged is just okay. I know I'm in the minority, but I never found it terribly funny. I don't at all dislike it, but in my eyes, preferring Abridged over the actual series would be like preferring Ricky 1 over Rocky.

As a parody, it's even less the same show as Z than FUNimation's original dubs. It's not a bad thing by any means, since it's intentionally so, whereas FUNimation should have left the series alone, but I definitely don't consider it a "dub" in the least, and I frequently see people cite it as such, when it's just not so. I'm not at all saying nobody is allowed to like it, just that equating it to a dub is just factually incorrect.
I do apologize for what I said. I think she is good voice actress but she is get overrated so badly like she is this goddess of voice acting when I can literally name about 20 different voice actresses better than her.

I'm honestly not a huge fan of DBZ Abridged. They're pretty hit-and-miss to me.

Well, I can understand that there are english fans prefering the DBA as their favorite, because in my opinion, they do the job better than Funimation, who for me was always the ''HARDCOOORE FIGHTING STUFFFFF''
and even the acting is that way - ''the american dudeness'' - so the way how DBA staff lightheartedly plays the characters, even if it's satire, is much more preferable.

So yeah, if I had to pick the favorite english dub, it would be Abridged.
But, no one beats the awesomeness of Japanese original and F*** you with your different opinions

TFS is only funny because of the dub. Not only are the voices akin to dub ones, but they poke fun at dub moments too (Piccolo's chant). >.>
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

No doubt, TFS does a phenomenal job.

Perhaps one advantage they have is that they already knew the characters and story back-and-front before even beginning their series, and were able to form the voices / tone of the characters accordingly. Obviously they throw in plenty of their own elements and they do a good job of capturing those as well. I think if they were to do a true fandub of the series in the same manner, it might not work quite as well, but they certainly do a great job of matching their acting with their slightly modified story.

Yeah, true, I think that Masako's Goku and others probably won't work in normal serious dub.
It would be fun, if they do some part with faithful script and try to emulate the original.

That was the FUNi of old though, they do no exist anymore. Schemmel isn't Superman, he kills the light side of Goku now and Sabat's Vegeta doesn't sound like he has a stick up his butt, it feels much more natural and akin to Horikawa, among the most improved voices and they use the Japanese score now and no rock/replacement scores. It is fine to prefer DBZA voices but you are giving the current FUNi a dub a disservice by labelling them they way you have.

I don't like them still, I am fan of Japanese version for ages and as I've said sometime somewhere, I prefer british english and canadian + some of the north american english (New York) and Funimation cast is annoying for my ears.
It's mostly about the sound with me and I do accept their improvement with script. It's just a no no even hearing Schemmel scream :)

Tough fair enough, my english will probably annoy you as well, as I do sound exotic. What is funny is that some people thought that I am Welsh... like what the hell am I to begin with.

While I find DBZ Abridged immensely entertaining in all regards, I think some people don't realise it's a parody and not an official dub in any way and not meant to be taken seriously in the first place. I mean, that disclaimer at the beginning of every episode isn't throw in for shits or giggles.

Given that they try to make it funny, I think it's fair to say that the disclaimer is, indeed, partially for giggles.

Mmm, I don't get that impression. I mean, I don't get that impression about the disclaimer itself. Beginning with Season 2, they started having their voice actors read the disclaimer in character, sometimes with jokes added in, but the disclaimer itself never struck me as a joke at all.

That's not what I meant. I was saying that they put in an effort to make the disclaimer funny, as well as have it perform whatever legal roles a disclaimer does. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

What defines an official dub people? Because there is something called the Big Green Dub, and the ones who created it are an official VA house. You gonna say that the TFS dub is nothing but a parody and should be discounted, when that THING out there is an official release? Get out of here with that noise, in an alternate universe I would want the TFS dub being introduced to the westerners who never heard of anime instead of the Big Green Dub, jeezy petes!

The thing is, DBZ Abridged is a non-profit parody of the the DBZ anime. The guys at TFS certainly don't seem to consider it an official release considering their disclaimer at the beginning of every episode.

Let there be no misunderstanding, nobody is saying that DBZA should be "discounted." Rather, people are--or, at the very least, I am--just casually pointing out that it is not a dub. Never mind the term "official dub," which in this case would mean a dub authorized by the original production company (Toei in this case), it's not even a dub to begin with. That's not intended as an insult to DBZA, either. DBZA is an incredibly enjoyable show, but it is its own show, not a dub.

And hey, it's its own show that is far, far more enjoyable than many of the official dubs out there. All things considered, most of the official DBZ dubs out there are sub-par in some respect. DBZA is not a dub, though, and to say that is not an insult, it's something that TFS themselves would agree with.
