Yes. There was not save data on the Super Famicom cartridge. It's a simple code to remember, so you'll be fine :).
They should have included a save state feature. I don't know why I'm surprised though, they couldn't even translate the game.

What a damn half assed release.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm personally very happy that Bandai Namco gave us Super Butōden 2 completely unaltered in Japanese. Setting aside the fact that it makes me feel nostalgic for playing my imported Japanese copies of Ultimate Battle 22 and Final Bout as a kid, I just simply like the idea of being able to play a "lost" unlocalized game as-is. If it were a "meatier" game, I'd definitely insist that it be translated. But aside from the cutscenes (which, admittedly, I would like to be able to read in some form), everything I need to know is perfectly translated in the digital manual. I'm honestly okay with what we got, but I admit that I'm a wacko.

My biggest disappointment is that we'll likely not get Super Butōden and Super Butōden 3... I don't like owning a sequel without owning the original game along with it, but I know I should be grateful that we even got one of these games over here.

I have two questions for those who already have the game. Thanks in advance for any help!

1.) Has anyone noticed any music replacements aside from "Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go" and the BGM for Super Butōden 2?

2.) Does anyone know if my "power level" from the demo affects anything in the final game?

As far as I can tell, unlike the Japanese version, there is no functionality between the demo and the actual game.

I've also gone ahead and compiled a list of the all the codes I've found on here and other places. Hopefully when we get them all they can be edited onto the first page. Or at least someone can put 'em all on gamefaqs.

So, I beat Adventure Mode and it said I unlocked SSG Goku. I thought you unlocked SSG Goku along with Beerus after you beat Extreme World Tournament mode. Am I wrong? Did they change it for the English release or am I confusing it with something else?

Yes. As opposed to the Japanese version where she, along with Jaco, was a download code with the game's official guide book, she's just a button combination. It remains to be seen if someone can unearth Jaco.

I'm not sure about the Japanese version, but Beerus is in fact unlocked after beating the Extreme World Tournament mode. SSG Goku like you mentioned is unlocked after beating Adventure mode.

Many thanks for this one. Every other code I was finding for this guy wasn't working, but this one finally did! So I think I've got all the code ones now, outside of Jaco, whenever someone is finally able to figure out how in the heck you get him.

Does anyone have a complete list of what assists are only obtained via codes? Doesn't need the codes themselves, I just want to check to see how many I don't have.

So, I just beat the tournament mode and unlocked Beerus. I unlocked Broly from the story mode, SSG Goku from adventure mode, and Beerus from the tournament. Is there any playable character I'm missing or do you really only unlock 3 playable characters and the rest are assists?

That's correct. Though, there IS an unlock code for SSGSS Goku, but other than that the rest of the characters are assists.

I'm sure most of you are already aware of these facts, but just in case I want to post something fairly relevant to getting S-ranks:
In the mission objectives, when it says finish with an "Ultimate Combo" that means you must use the ultimate combo, not the 200% final ultimate combo, and there must be no beam struggle when you do this. Likewise, finishing with a "Final Ultimate Combo" means you must use the 200% final ultimate in order to win the battle (the opponent can't beam struggle this at all); and finishing with an "Ultimate Counter" means that you must win a beam struggle of the regular ultimate combos.

Hope this helps at least someone, I was confused by the wording in-game at first.

I already have SSGSS but thanks anyways. :) That is a shame. I wish there were more playable characters. I am baffled at how SSGSS Vegeta, and Golden Freeza, the new hotness from the movie, are only assists. That doesn't make sense.

We don't need more clones in a 25-ish roster thank you very much.

I hope they add Champa as a playable character and Vados as an assist later on.

That makes sense. but I mean, SSGSS Goku uses different moves that SSG Goku and such. So SSGSS Vegeta would be different from SSJ Vegeta. Same with Golden Freeza compared to Final Form Freeza/ Unless I'm wrong. I might be wrong, but hey, I guess we'll never know.

So I finished Adventure mode while at work today, and man...it started off pretty interesting, but less than halfway through, it felt like the same kind of grind that Story mode did. Sure, things were different, but only just enough so that it could say it was going through the motions...and that was about it. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Xenoverse's story (even though I admit that, by and large, it kind of goes through the same sequential story too), but this is just so much more painful than I ever remember it being in the old days.

That said though, prior to Xenoverse, the last new DBZ game I really got to buy and play extremely thoroughly was...well, Budokai Tenkaichi 3. And I got that when it first came out. So maybe I'm just older now, and less inclined to deal with the same story over and over and over, at least in games? I'unno. I just know it was a bit more of a drag than I expected it to be.

Finishing that though netted me Super Saiyan God Goku, though he doesn't seem quite as useful as SSGSS Goku does. Just have to beat Extreme Tournament mode now (I got to the last fight and died, gah!) to unlock Beerus, and then I can go back to the various (and many) spots in Adventure mode where I need to S rank to unlock another Assist character. ...So despite all my complaining, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment after all...

Wow, I gotta say...despite that most of the Z stories were a drag (except piccolo and krillin, I liked those quite a bit) that "Bad Guys" arc was fantastic! I demand it get turned into a movie length OVA :D

Protip for S-Ranks. Use SSJ4 Gogeta because he can get you 400+ rush combos. The score caps it at 100 in the tally, but it definitely helps.

Wow, that all happened incredibly quickly. So we just need the code for Jaco and the code for Policeman Kuririn (when/if we get that newest patch). I didn't think we'd have access to everything so soon, for whatever reason.

Gah, I can't wait to play this game!
