Stages of SSJ
So which is your favourite, personally I liked the second stage the best. I didn't like 3 because the eye brows just seemed to disappear. I didn't get that. I didn't like 4 because I think it just seemed way too different to all other stages. I liked the way they got the tail back, I think they should have kept the tail throughout the series, but all in all with the 4th stage I just didn't like the whole appearance with the fur, the red around the eyes, and the clothes that just appeared.
So what's are your favourite stages, and what do you not like about others?

I think Super Saiyan 3 would've been cooler without the giant mullet. One of Toriyama's concept drawings for SSj3 that I saw awhile back was really cool. Hair similar to Super Saiyan 2, no eyebrows, and a gold tail.
I would've loved if that were the design used in the manga and anime!
As for my favorite, I like Super Saiyan 2 on Gohan and Super Saiyan on Goku. As much as I dislike GT, though, I like playing as Super Saiyan 4 in the games.

Seconded! Super Saiya-jin 3 was just a step too far. The first two SSJ forms made sense, while it just seems like SSJ3 was meant for nothing but to look cool. And Super Saiya-jin 4 would've been fine if it hadn't been called a Super Saiya-jin stage.Menardi wrote:The second one was my favourite. Btw, that tampon thing wasn't my idea, someone said something about that!

I've always liked SSJ2 the best... Well, at least for Gohan. Super Saiyan was supposed to be the ultimate, strongest being in the universe, so there's something really cool and dramatic about finally surpassing the Super Saiyan stage. I don't like how everyone else just reaches it too within those seven years, though (although it's possible Vegeta reached it by turning Majin), and I don't like how no one else looks very different as a Super Saiyan 2. The stage's first appearance and usage, however, is awesome.
It was getting old by Super Saiyan 3. Goku achieved it through... training? That's it? I find that a rather lame and uninteresting way to introduce the stage beyond the stage beyond (what was supposed to be) the ultimate, strongest stage in the universe. It's physical appearance is sweet, though.
I really like the concept of Super Saiyan 4 though. It's actually unique, unlike SSJ3; it's the compacting of a Saiyan's humanoid, Giant Ape, and Super Saiyan forms all into one ultimate fighter. It's design is great as well (although I question why the fur is red and not brown). I haven't seen far enough into GT, however, to see how well it's executed (not well, from what I've heard.)

This reminds me of a thread I made a while back but instead of choosing one as my favorite because I don't think one in particular is amazing, I'll list reasons why I like all of the forms:
First form Super Saiyan (SSj)
First off, this form belongs to Goku. This was basically the last hope in the fight against Freeza and all other scenes in this form couldn't come close in terms of character depth imo. The biggest "turn-off" with this form was Goten and Trunks accessing it with ease. If I had a say, Trunks and Goten should've struggled with the form but later transform with it once they heard that Gohan and Vegeta "died". Unfortunately, SSj2 made this form almost useless...
Ascended Super Saiyan
This is, imo, Vegeta's form. This showcased some of Vegeta's most badass scenes in the Dragonball. This mid-stage form is weird to me because I'm not sure if the fighters ever used it again because there were times where they could've used the boost in between SSj and SSj2.
Super Saiyan 2 (SSj2)
Easily Gohan's form. When Vegeta and Goku had the epic rematch in this form, it started losing its steam. When you think about times when Gohan could've or did go SSj2 in the Buu Arc, it just gives you a headache. IMHO, this form would've been perfect had the series ended with the Cell Game but once the other forms were introduced and after seeing SSj2 in GT, well...
Super Saiyan 3 (SSj3)
This form tends to get some bad rep, but it's okay..It's only real use was in the Buu Arc and it made for an interesting transformation, I guess. I enjoyed both Goku and Gotenks in this form.
Super Saiyan 4 (SSj4) This forum has changed my views on this form. Now I see it as the "true" form if anything. With that being said, I could live with how it appeared in GT.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

I have been interested in seeing this since you posted and have been looking for it, you don't happen to know where you saw it do you?Kendamu wrote:One of Toriyama's concept drawings for SSj3 that I saw awhile back was really cool. Hair similar to Super Saiyan 2, no eyebrows, and a gold tail.

It has been awhile sing I've seen the drawing. No tail on the mullet-less SSj3 Goku. I still prefer the design on the left overall. Seems like it was actually formulated off of SSj2. For example, SSj2 looks like a more badass SSj. So it would make sense for SSj3 to look like a more badass SSj2 instead of "ZOMG GOLDEN RADITZ LAWL".Mr.Piccolo wrote:"There's a site, too?"chibi_goten wrote:I have been interested in seeing this since you posted and have been looking for it, you don't happen to know where you saw it do you?Kendamu wrote:One of Toriyama's concept drawings for SSj3 that I saw awhile back was really cool. You all probably see this one coming.
Super Saiyan 4, yo.
Super Saiyan 4, yo.
Right. I always saw it as like a combination of the two sides of a Saiyan's power. The rational and humanoid Super Saiyan stages combined with the vicious and feral Oozaru stage into one form far more powerful than either.Swift wrote: I really like the concept of Super Saiyan 4 though. I love the original SSj more than any others, but I also see that everyone hates 3 O_o.
I personally like 3 more than 2 and 4, because I heard about it in 1998 from a friend who had seen everything in Mexico already. He liked it the most, and the hype I got from him on it made it seem pretty damn cool. And I had the "Perfect Version" Volume 00!! Son Gokou of the Super Battle Collection, and SSJ3 is the coolest head on there. And then I bought DBZ Legends in 2000 or so... and the fact that SSj3 Goku's Kamehameha is the most awesomest form of awesome ever makes him a favorite of mine, even before I saw him in the show. Then I saw him finally in the show in like 2004 or so, when I bought the vhs for those episodes. I can see I was alittle too hyped up over him, but it's still a very awesome part of the series. And I like him, and if you guys think 3 is wierd or stupid, you can go play in traffic
ok I'm done ranting over.... nothing lol

In a ditch somewhere
Well, rational for a Saiyan, anyhoo. Most Saiyans (Broly aside) aren't randomly running around, screeching and smashing anything and everything in their sight, like one tends to do as an Oozaru.Rocketman wrote:Rational.SSj Kaboom wrote:I just really like what it was implied to be: a Saiyan's ultimate, super-true form, as a combination of the rational, humanoid side and the feral, Oozaru side.
