Just like the title says, what are your favorite moments from each arc?


Mine would have to be:

1. Hunt for the Dragon Balls - Panty wish.
2. 21st Tenkaichi Budokai - Goku and Krillin training with Roshi (can't decide on a specific moment).
3. Red Ribbon Army - Goku reunites with Grandpa Gohan (yes, I count Baba as part of the RRA arc).
4. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai - Tenshinhan and Roshi confront each other after their match.
5. Piccolo Daimao - Goku kills Piccolo Daimao.
6. 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai - Goku headbutts Piccolo and wins the match.
7. Saiyan - Piccolo saves Gohan.
8. Freeza - Kaioken x20 vs Freeza.
9. Cell - Trunks kills Freeza and King Cold (this was a very tough one).
10. Majin Buu - Vegeta's sacrifice.
11. Battle of Gods - Ending of Goku vs Beerus + Vegeta catching Goku.


Runner ups:

1. No Balls!
2. Roshi wins the tournament.
3. Tao Pai Pai arrives.
4. Roshi hits the Crane Hermit with a kamehameha.
5. Piccolo Daimao gets younger and kills Shenlong.
6. Goku and Chi Chi proposal.

8. Goku turns into a Super Saiyan.
9. Gohan kills Cell (again, really close with Gohan turning SSJ2).

Just doing Z off the top of my head

Saiyan - The entire fight with Raditz - it was my introduction to the series and there was definitely nothing like this airing on children's TV in 1996. I love how blades of grass fly up in the air and how invincible Radtiz seems.
Freeza arc - Vegeta picking off Freeza's men like the slasher in a horror movie. He's greatly outclassed by Freeza but he cripples him but staying one step ahead and taking away his resources. It's the last time he really feels awesome to me.
Cell arc - Gohan's SS2 transformation. Absolutely the most powerful moment in the series IMO.
Buu arc - I dunno, I appreciate the effort to bring some more humor into the series, so maybe Gotenks?

- 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai: Goku arriving on Kami's lookout
- Saiyan: Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta's tail
- Freeza: The moment when Vegeta, Kuririn and Gohan realize that they are fighting on the same side
- Cell: Trunks arrival / discovery of second time machine and Cell
- Boo: Great Saiyaman / Gotenks vs. Boo fight

1. Hunt for the Dragon Balls - Bulma flashing Master Roshi.
2. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai - Krillin tricking Goku, and them all getting food poisoned while Goku sits outside in hunger.
3. Red Ribbon Army - Mercenary Tao kills Bora and Goku lunges at him in anger.
4. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai - Tenshinhan vs Jackie Chun. I like how the latter tried to reason with the former. It was an important moment for Tien's character.
5. Piccolo Daimao - Goku runs to where Krillin was headed, only to find him dead. One of the most powerful deaths in the series.
6. 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai - Piccolo brutalizing Goku after piercing through his torso. This was sick.
7. Saiyan - Goku vs Vegeta beam struggle. One of the best in the series.
8. Freeza - Goku turns SSJ.
9. Garlic Jr - Him falling back into the dead zone like a moron.
10. Cell - Gohan and Cell's beam struggle. Probably my favorite moment in the entire series, though I'm biased because Faulconer killed it here.
11. Other World - Pikkon kicking the asses of all the past villains. It bugs me that he handled Cell so easily, but I like to think it's because he caught him by surprise.
12. Majin Buu - Goku's SSJ3 transformation
13. Battle of Gods - The poor animation of episode 5. Highlight of this series so far.
14. Blackstar - Vegeta's mustache.
15. Bebi - Majuub giving Bebi indigestion.
16. Super 17 - Goku's dragon fist.
17. Shadow dragon - The scene where Vegeta reminisces over "Kakarot" surpassing him, and Bulma hypothesizes that she can make him a SSJ4. Much better portrayal of their relationship than Super. Vegeta spitting out his soda was funny too. No stupid over-the-top kawaii faces from him.

Hunt for the Dragon Balls: Any scene with Goku's "pat pat"

21st WMAT: Goku and Krillin bonding and becoming BFFs

Red Ribbon Saga: Mercenary Tao killing General Blue with his tongue

22nd WMAT: Roshi and Tien's talk outside after their match. I loved the dialogue between those two in this arc.

King Piccolo Saga: Goku seeing Krillin dead. This scene scared me so much as a kid I stopped watching the show and didn't come back to it until 10 years later.

23rd WMAT: Goku lifting Giant Piccolo and throwing him. I literally yelled with excitement when I saw that for the first time.

Saiyan Saga:



Any of Nappa's crazy facial expressions. DBZ Abridged definitely made these funnier lol.

Namek Saga: Kaioken x 20 but only in the original Japanese version.

Cell Saga: All of Gohan vs. Cell but only in the old Funi dub. The music makes it for me.

Buu Saga: "Fight you... No, I wanna kill you." Gohan's Anger theme is a must.

Battle of Gods (Movie): The Hero song part of Goku vs. Beerus

Hunt for the Dragon Balls: When the Kamehameha is used for the first time by Kame-sennin.
21st Tenkaichi Budokai: Kuririn and Kame-sennin explaining to the audience what happened when they clashed mid-air.
Red Ribbon Army: When Goku meets his grandfather.
22nd Tenkaichi Budokai: Kame-sennin gives up. I struggled to find something I really liked in this arc, it just comes off as so meh.
Piccolo Daimao: Goku's last stand.
Piccolo Jr: Goku's victory.
Saiyan: The Kamehameha - Galick Gun struggle.
Freeza: Goku turning Super Saiyan. This one's obvious.
Artificial Human: Gohan turns Super Saiyan 2. Trunks' arrival is second, but by a large margin.
Boo: The final Genkidama. Poorly written mess but it was extremely exciting to witness.
Battle of Gods: The scene where Beerus stabs Goku and lets him fall to the ocean.

1. Freeza Saga: The obvious one is Goku turning SSJ for the first time, but the one that stays with me the most is Freeza appearing for the first time. It was shocking, I wanted to know more about him.
2. Cell Saga: Gohan going SSJ 2 for the first time with Tamashii tai Tamashii playing.
3. Buu saga: Goku saying good bye to Majin buu.

GT: Goku goes SSJ 4 for the first time and Goku leaves with Shenlong.

1. Hunt for the Dragon Balls - Bulma and Goku meeting, him explaining about his grandfather and his dragon ball.
2. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai - When they finally move the big rocks, and they both can do it.
3. Red Ribbon Army - Goku encounters snow (and Snow). In general not a huge fan of this arc, so not sure -- would have to reread.
4. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai - Aerial battle between Goku and Tenshinhan.
5. Piccolo Daimao - Yajirobe carrying the injured Goku up Karin tower.
6. 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai - Goku/Chichi Proposal.
7. Saiyan - Goku vs. Vegeta beam fight.
8. Freeza - Vegeta vs. Zarbon pt 2.
9. Cell - Gohan transforming into SSJ2, followed closely by #18 beating up Vegeta.
10. Majin Buu - Vegeta's sacrifice is beautifully done, but maybe the moment Vegeta first transforms into Majin Vegeta, or in general the Majin Vegeta fight: him trying to reconcile his good side and his evil side is a very interesting character piece in general.
11. Battle of Gods - Goku being mad about Beerus placing limits on him, or Beerus talking about humans being insignificant in a battle of Gods.

Oh, jeez. This is probably going to be more like a list of moments I know I really like and can remember off the top of my head.

Hunt for the Dragon Balls - "The Midnight Visitors" -- Just kills me every time.
21st Tenkaichi Budokai - I really love the entire Goku-Jackie Chun fight.
Red Ribbon Army- (Anime only) Nearly any scene involving Tao Pai Pai, but especially the one that has him going around town and ends with his hardboiling an egg in his own bathtub. (Manga) The assault on the Red Ribbon base. Meeting Grandpa Gohan.
22nd Tenkaichi Budokai - The early portion of Goku vs. Tenshinhan, when Tenshinhan is still planning on killing Goku.
Piccolo Daimao - Goku vs. Piccolo rematch. Just really satisfying and a huge increase in scale from previous fights.
23rd Tenkaichi Budokai - Another cop-out, because Goku vs. Piccolo is also my favorite part here, and I enjoy the whole thing. If I had to pick a single moment, it'd be the revelation that Goku is still playing by tournament rules in allowing Piccolo to punch him.
Saiyan - Everybody vs. Vegeta
Namek - Kuririn, Gohan and Bulma realizing Vegeta is on the planet as soon as they land; the entire cat-and-mouse portion with Vegeta, the Earthlings and Freeza's forces stealing the Dragon Balls from one another. Freeza arrives just as Porunga dies. Goku challenges Freeza. The end of the Goku-Freeza fight.
Cell - Easily, easily Gohan, Trunks and Bulma discovering the second time machine.
Boo - Great Saiyaman slice-of-life episodes. Gotenks vs. Boo.
Battle of Gods - The amazing Oolong janken gag in the movie version.
