I also assumed the Gokuu and Bulma would have gotten together in the beginning. I only saw about 2 episodes of Dragonball at 5AM back in 1996, so I was only vaguely familiar with the characters. A couple years later, I heard from a friend about Dragonball Z where Gokuu was married and had kid, and I was like, "oh, with Bulma?" and she said no and I was a bit surprised (though not nearly as surprised as I was about the whole "WTF, Vegeta & Bulma?!" thing).

But, uhhh, yeah, the topic....in the Japanese manga, Gokuu doesn't call Chichi flat-chested, he says she's not "puripuri", which I had assumed was some onomatopoetic word meaning "sexy" or something, but looking it up just now it seems to mean "angry"....which doesn't make any sense. Another meaning I found is "reek" which doesn't fit either (I hope o_O;; ). Maybe it's supposed to be "feisty".

And the English translation also loses Vegeta's reference to Chichi's chichis

As he didn't want to upset her, come on nobodys that heartless to show somebody up that bad. In all honesty he has always been more botherd about fighting, I think he married Chi Chi because he felt like it was the right thing to do, but he never really was too sure.

I admit I never thought about Goku being with Bulma either. I just realized how it was different from other series a little while back. Then again, back when DB first came on in the States, only anime I was familiar with was Voltron, Star Blazers and many shows on Nickelodeon in the late 80s-early 90s that I didn't realize were anime at the time.

She was hysterical with the fact that she found the Dragonball and wanted to get it badly. She didn't notice that she had no knickers on, because last time she checked she had put some on, and was asleep when Goku took them off.

Heh this thread has gotten out of hand. As for the marriage thing, I don't think Chi-Chi bribed him for that as she thought in all honesty that Goku was sincere in his choice to marry her. I personally think at first it was just Goku's honorable nature but he quickly grew to love her. Goku was just confused over the whole "marriage" thing and also didn't understand women but eventually he matured.

If loving Chi-Chi is wrong, I don't want to be right, regardless if Goku thinks she has any "bounce left".

She's far from being flat chested, even by the end of DBZ where she's pushing 47. As far as anime women go, she's still hot stuff. I wouldn't say the same for Bulma at the end of DBZ.

Frankly I don't know what Goku was talking about; maybe he was just trying to find an excuse so Chi Chi wouldn't kill him?
