Unofficial New DB Series Dragonball Absalon Episode 1

I enjoyed Absalon as a fan series but it is no where near Super or offical Dragonball.

I do like the story as an outline as I feel it has potential just the excuation isn't there.

Gohan and the others trying to defend Earth from evil super saiyans with no Goku or Vegeta sounds like a good plot to me if Toriyama was doing it.

So I went and watched all episodes back to back.

What hurts the series the most is there is no expanded universe information. Four episodes in four years and all is known is that Absalon is a planet. A fanfic or webcomic inbetween episodes would be a help, it could be another four years before anything is explained.

Another thing is Mellavelli doesn't understand episode structure: I absolutely forgot about Future Trunks, let alone the original three invaders, and when an episode is 13 minutes long and 10 minutes is nothing but fighting with no actual progression all for one fight, it honestly feels like filler. Going back to what I said before, some internal monologue about what and why this series exists can go a long way, along with moving to a different fight, even for like 120 seconds.

I'm more tolerant about more Saiyans than I was before. I don't like it, but I have yet to have seen any post GT series that isn't a rehash of a villain type we've seen before. Saiyan, Arcosian, Kaio, it's all the same, and The art isn't getting any better, but the actual animation is getting more fluid, so there's that.

I haven't gone back and watched the older ones but from memory it seems like the animation is going down hill. Still decent for one guy I guess but doesn't seem as good as I remember ep1 being. Pacing of that fight seemed off to me, and to much spamming beam attacks and powering up.
And was that bald guy a SSGSS/SSB at the end? And if not does anybody know if BOG/ROF are canon to Absalon?

I like the raw plot-line thus far too.. Plus it also seems that some of these "saiyans" are artificial, because I remember in one of the earlier episodes one of the villains was critically injured and his comrade injected him with some type of saiyan blood serum that not only healed him but allowed the guy to go ""Super" and grow a tail.

Well Beerus is probably the most original villain that we had in a while. He didn't come off as a rehash like most of the villains in DBZ Movies 1-13 and GT did in my opinion.

Beerus is most original villain and character since Freeza. No transformations, no-power ups, and no special biology. He's just that strong and threatening because he's a god.

When I say Post GT I don't mean any work since GT aired. I mean series' that take GT as its prequel, like the three AF series', and DBNA.

I'm from the West so I guess that makes me a part of the "Dee Bee Zee" crowd (whatever that means) but I dont' like this fanseries at all.
Ugly art and typical Saiyan plot, really dumb plotpoints (apparently Future Trunks is evil?) and just doesnt feel like DB at all.

I enjoy Absalon. I realize the hard work put into it and appreciate for what it is. A fan-made web series.

The same can be said for Light of Hope and Fall of Men.

They all give me that DBZ fix I crave every once in awhile.

Voice acting seems to have gotten a lot better. Too bad the dialogue is absolute garbage, holy crap.

Indeed. Whoever did the voice for Vegeta did a pretty good job!

The voice acting is decent. People on Youtube are posting comments saying that this is better then Super. While Super can be awful at times, at least it has a plot. Absalon almost has none. It's just three evil aliens coming to Earth looking for Saiyans and fighting starts. It's 99% action and 1% plot.
