Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
We have to keep in mind, ratings reflect the last episode not the current one. Viewership is not going to increase because people think the episode will be good out of telepathy, it's mostly based on the hype/reviews of the previous episode(s).
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Exactly. If we're talking about interests only, then episode 15 getting higher than usual ratings doesn't mean viewers want to see Satan more than they want to see Vegeta. If anything, it could be actually the opposite, as it was lower this week. It just means the end of the fight in episodes 13/14 was well received.DragonHermit wrote:We have to keep in mind, ratings reflect the last episode not the current one. Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Do the DVR viewers actually make up a worthwhile size of the viewing audience?
If it only accounts for 1/10th of those that watch it live then it's really not that significant.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Nah, I am pretty sure episode 16 will have a much higher rating than this one. Mostly because it had a lower live rating.LightBing wrote:http://www.tvguide.or.jp/ranking/timerr ... index.html

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I don't know what percentage the DVR slice is of the total viewership. It's still significant since this list, puts in perspective the interest in the series stacked against other series. The sample size should still be significant to determine the weekly interest on the series or lack there of.Bullza wrote:Do the DVR viewers actually make up a worthwhile size of the viewing audience?

We can observe the downward tendency, with two 1st place anomalies. There also doesn't appear to exist a correlation between the live ratings and these ones, with the exception perhaps on the first episode.
There's too many factors in play to make a decent assessment. It's still interesting to watch.

Hopefully. That show deserves higher ratings. =PNot good, One Punch Man might be coming for us.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
That's explainable. Episode 15 had very high live ratings, so DVRs were naturally lower.LightBing wrote:Worst position ever for Dragon Ball Super. Not good, One Punch Man might be coming for us.
We can't ignore there seems to be a relation lately, for the most part. For instance:
Episode 13 - TV 6.6% - DVR 57.9
Episode 15 - TV 6.5% - DVR 56.7
The numbers are very close, showing a consistent viewership. And that's more relevant than the positions.
And still, number-wise it was pretty much the average, not much lower. Episodes 1, 6 and 12 had lower scores. The position was lower because a couple of new shows (Lupin and Gundam, basically) are being very recorded and affecting the ranking now. One month ago, before they started, Super would be 6th as usual - episode 1 was 6th with a 43.3 after all.
But those two shows have much, much lower ratings than Super, they're not top 10 material, so ranking higher among DVR viewers is to be expected.
It's worth mentioning only three of the animes in the DVR ranking have higher ratings than DBS: Doraemon, One Piece and Conan.
I'm still trying to understand the DVR ranking, but i think it only truly matters for shows that have average to high live ratings already.Bullza wrote:Do the DVR viewers actually make up a worthwhile size of the viewing audience?

For a show with a 1.0, for instance, scoring a 90.0 here might not mean a lot.

It's surprising that Dragonball isn't at the top. If they brought it to the states I could help those #'s. Thanks for answering my inquiry.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Well they aren't anything to ride home about but they're nothing to worry about either so decent I guess would a word to sum it up.LSSJGODSSJ4Gogeta wrote:Still don't quite understand the ratings, in a word are the good, bad, great or terrible?

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
The problem with the DVR rating is that it only compares animes with other animes. For example: Super might have 10 people DVR it three weeks straight and the numbers would show:
Week 1 - 55.3
Week 2 - 100.0
Week 3 - 68.9
Because the 1st placed anime makes the standard. The numbers reflect which % we have of the total of the 1st place anime.
So this ranking is only good to compare how well we fare against other animes. We actually don't know if the viewership is constant or not. The sample size is also way too small to discern patterns. We can make guesses but that's it.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
The ratings go up and down all the time so I don't think an episode not doing very good is anything to worry about cause the next one could end up at the top of the chart.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
You couldn't really, as the us and Japan are different regions for ratings.LSSJGODSSJ4Gogeta wrote:It's surprising that Dragonball isn't at the top. I will be glad when they decide to let DBS get dubbed into English... I bet it would get much higher ratings here in the states....

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Keep in mind these aren't "Opinion Ratings", they are just numbers for how many people tuned in, which is largely based on the NextEp Preview and what's going on in the story overall.Ssgvegito30 wrote:That's pretty odd in my opinion it was one of the best episode sure chi chi was pain in the ass for the most part but story wise it was gr8 episode goku n bulma part out side washroom and goku breaking through the wall was the funniest I think the worst should have been episode 4, 5, 8 and 9
I'm betting right here and now Super sees a good ratings boost next week because of Champa and Vados (also Sorbet and Tamago).
