Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I suppose they had to of been given the press release themselves, as the fan page doesn't list the series's story summary.
On another note, I wonder who wrote that up and how well they potentially handle translations. It notes that all 12 Universes have a Hakaishin, so I wonder if the god hierarchy is the same in all 12, even if they aren't twins? (Assuming the info is even correct in the first place, as Super doesn't have Beerus telling Goku about the 12 Universes at the end of their battle.)

Who would voice Gokû? Ocean's had like 5 or 6 of them.
And it's been four.
Toonami Asia doesn't host their own press releases. The Twitter account you posted earlier is legit.Sodhi wrote:Well it turns out I was right, the source from where the news is indeed a fan website

If that's true, then we really are getting an English dub in 2016.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:Toonami Asia doesn't host their own press releases. The Twitter account you posted earlier is legit.
Now the question is whether or not FUNimation will be involved, or if they'll do their own release even sooner.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Very doubtful FUNi will be involved since Fairy Tail had a dub in Asia and FUNi went ahead and dubbed the series themselves anyway later so I assume the same will happen here. Looks like MangaUK were correct Toei are indeed looking for TV deals. What is interesting is the 52x30', 52 episodes? Hmm.

Maybe we are in for only a year before something replaces. Or that's how many episodes they're currently decided on before they have to decide if they'll make more?
But even something like Precure usually only runs 49 episodes because of the weeks it has to take off. Hmm...
Even if the reF arc takes the same number of episodes as reBOG, if you count next week as the start then reF would be over at episode 32, meaning 20 episodes for Uni 6? I guess some in-between filler episodes in there too. Sounds about right, but I haven't 100% sold myself on the theory I typed just now. ^^;
I'm really enjoying Super; I'd be sad if it were to go for only 52 episodes. I mean, 52? That's even less than GT. GT had 64.
On hiatus.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Not only is it less then Gt but over half will be retelling the movies so the new content will be less then 25 episodes.Chuquita wrote:I'm really enjoying Super; I'd be sad if it were to go for only 52 episodes. I mean, 52? That's even less than GT. GT had 64.
It'll be a shame to see it go this early so hopefully the 52 is just what they're allowed to dub.

Nah, i reaaaaally doubt we would learn the series' run through a press release from Toonami Asia. Probably not even its own staff knows at this point.Chuquita wrote: OH!![]()

"52" is usually just a placeholder, like the "100" thing from Toei Europe.
At the very best, that could be the number of episodes Toonami Asia acquired. Which would make sense, given by Mid-2016 (when they debut the series) that will be more of less the number of aired episodes in Japan.
My personal guess since a while ago is that Super must have been planned for at least five cours, as it wouldn't make sense if the entirely new content were shorter than the retellings.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm not entirely convinced anyway. 52 episodes would be 4 full cours (13 episodes), but we already only had 12 episodes in cour #1. We will inevitably skip more episodes due to holidays, events, One Piece specials, etc, too. If we're getting 52 episodes, unless they want to run and end mid-cour, we'd have to miss 12-13 episodes over the course of four cours, and then run for a fifth...

*Definitely wants more than 52 episodes.*

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I don't think for a second Ocean will be producing this English Dub when they couldn't even get their dub of Z Kai on the air.
I imagine an Asian English dubbing company will produce a mediocre dub of the series. This isn't the first time it's been done, if I remember correctly, and Asian English dubbing company produced the entirety of Inuyasha: The Final Act for broadcast years before Viz Media got around to it. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it certainly got the job done. If someone (somehow) manages to record this particular dub and share it, I would probably give it a try but I want the FUNimation dub.

Unless Funimation are the ones involved in the dubbing I have zero interest in whoever else dubs it.

Yes, the only english dubbed I actually liked watching was only the saiyan and to an extent namek saga of ocean dubs the quality of oceans dubs became crappy I remember when they started airing funimation dubs that's when I really got into the show and when ytv Canadian tv channel started airing oceans dubs mid-way cell saga I stopped watching on ytv, I started watching online the funimation dub as they air on toonami or the uncut version as they come out in vhs/dvdBullza wrote:Unless Funimation are the ones involved in the dubbing I have zero interest in whoever else dubs it.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm pretty sure Funimation will dub the series next year too. The reason why we don't have a Buu saga Kai dub yet is that the dub of Buu saga Kai will probably air on Toonami first. However Super is a different show and a different license to it. I doubt it will take too long and if it does come out later then normally then it will still sell well because of the brand name alone. Not to mention most causal Dragon Ball fans like the series dubbed only and will wait for a dub. Only a niche group of DB fans watch the series subbed like us.

I don't think they'd announce 52 unless it was the point where an arc finishes at so chances are that's when we'll be done with U6 but do you think that'll include the Super DB search or just the tournament ?

Tagoma and Ginyu in episode 22. It's true.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So they will give Tagoma a better role rather than killing him off like in the movie... And people saying that we would get the same stuff in this arc with no major changesBonus Stage wrote:Tagoma and Ginyu in episode 22. It's true.

They're changing a lot more then I thought which is great so hopefully they do more such as have Gohan fight in his Mystic form and give Vegeta a longer fight.Bonus Stage wrote:Tagoma and Ginyu in episode 22. It's true.![]()
At least now we know Toriyama isn't just writing the u6 arc.

Ginyu should be dead for good if he died on Earth? He may be a frog, but his soul and mind is still the same. He is still likely a very evil person that he once was.
