The cup noodles thing from episode 16 makes more sense now. ^^;
Good catch. If this helps DB: Super somehow get an animation bump, I'm all for it.
I hadn't even thought about an animation bump! That'll be really cool if it helps the show get one.

A little bit of backtracking, but I'm still in the process of getting caught up again now, currently on episode 12. I remember people talking about how they went way overboard with how many times Goku used Kamehameha, but good lord - how many times did they have someone say 'kami to kami' in the Battle of Gods arc episodes. It feels like I'm hearing it every other line or so, it's beyond distracting. I get it, I know what arc I'm watching Toei. I don't need the added help.

We don't know that.

I’ve written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe. They’re fighting against their neighbors, Universe 6! They’ll yell at me if I give away too many spoilers, so I’ll keep the rest a secret, but they’re chasing after giant Super Dragon Balls; I think things will unfold in a bright and simple way, that will be really fun and exciting!
It sounds like he has more input on the U6 saga then he did with anything else from Toei like DBZ Movies 1-13 and GT.

I really dig that it's gonna be a "strange" story. That's got me excited that we'll see some crazy stuff. :3

Will Kanzenshuu be analyzing Dragon Ball Super and be releasing an Animation Styles Guide for it?

I'm sad/disappointed; it looks like we won't be getting a panel at Jump Festa this year: http://www.jumpfesta.com/stage/
*Felt kinda spoiled after getting panels in recent years and to suddenly not have one this year.*

I guess this just means no having to stay up super-amazingly-late at night waiting for bits and pieces of spoilers to pop up in 2ch threads this year... :(
I liked doing that too; it was exciting in its own way.

Stuff that gets panels (from as well as I can read) :
12/19
Yugioh
Something (it's all kanji)
To Love Ru
Prince of Tennis
Naruto
Haikyuu

12/20
Seraph of the End
Something Tokyo World
World Trigger, Shokugeki no Soma, Hero Academy
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (I think)
One Piece
On hiatus.

Yes, and as I explained in my last post, it's likely that writing the story just means providing a treatment for the screenwriters at Toei to adapt, which is essentially the same thing that we've seen from the Battle of Gods arc in how they've adapted the film. There's nothing to say that the episode-by-episode writing is going to be handled by him. In fact, if that happened to be the case, I would eat my freakin' socks.

This was updated: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/2015/11/10/to ... b-in-2016/
FUNimation has no connection with the Toonami Asia Announcement or the premiere of its English language version of Dragon Ball Super in mid-2016.
Now I'm curious, because this is interesting. We're gonna have two English dubs and Funi doesn't even get to go first!

I think fairy tail also has another English dub so this isn't anything new.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Yes it did also before FUNimation. It was bad so hopefully the same company doesn't dub Super.

So I was rewatching an old interview with Bruce Lee, and it was then I realized that Whis is actually teaching Goku and Vegeta things Bruce Lee's been preaching:

I didn't watch the video, but if you're referring to the "moving without thinking" thing, that's, like, basic training for every martial art ever. I'm a bit surprised that DB is making such a big deal about it.

You don't need to look at other franchises. Every single Dragon Ball TV show has had multiple English dubs.

I'm not. Fundamentals are important to focus on, even professionals have to go back to fundamentals at times. Especially as your power grows and you become too reliant on it. Which is also why they're not training as Super Saiyans.

I wasn't aware that you were Dragon Ball, but thanks for taking time to answer a question about yourself. It's always nice to have the franchise itself talk to you. :P

Seriously, though, the series is not treating this as a fundamental. Whis himself said that Beerus hasn't even mastered yet. Muscle memory and acting on instinct rather than thought are things that Goku and co. should have mastered years ago.

...what? You said, "I'm surprised." I responded with, "I'm not." I don't understand the confusion?

I can't help wondering what Funi thinks of this. Maybe they'll at least be relieved that the first English dub of Super won't be on the same level as theirs in terms of understanding the language. This dub wouldn't be able to compete against them the way an Ocean dub would.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
