Enough mystery...who made this P-Cell theme remix??

Post by cRookie_Monster » Tue Nov 17, 2015 3:50 pm

This version seems to be the most complete I've heard yet:

It's so ubiquitous, people are starting to mistake it for the original :D

I've heard various theories but nothing for certain, like it was from a game or something.

There's the Mike Shinoda rap(which is awesome), but I don't think Fort Minor created it, maybe they did?

I remember there was a version of "Spell it out" without the Cell theme..but now I can't seem to find it. I thought a fan had taken the original and added the P-Cell Theme. There's a lot heavier drums in the Fort Minor version.

Anyway, anyone know for certain what the origin was or who the author is?

My original introduction to it, along with a version of "Rock the Dragon" I believe (which was for some reason labeled as Yngwie Malmsteen), was tagged as being made for and used in Bid For Power, a fan-made Quake 3 mod.

Thanks that might be a good lead! Though the idea of Yngwie covering Rock the Dragon is hilarious to me :D Maybe because it had some harmonic minor in it and that's Yngwie's favorite scale?

EDIT:

Confirmed that it was in that game a LONG time ago.
Found it in Bid for Power 4.0.
The music file is just a zip file renamed to Pk3. In it are some .wavs and the 5th one is this remix, dated October 9th 2002. It's horribly distorted though. Maybe the one that has gone around was from an earlier version. It wasn't present in the first version of Bid for Power, that only had like 4 tracks, none of which were this remix. That's really close in time to when the original was written. Very impressive. The original was written in 2000, maybe summertime? Also coincidentally, Oct 9th 2002 was just a few weeks after my daughter was born :)

I still don't know who created it though. Dernit

EDIT again

Might be this guy:
http://music.mp3lizard.com/remisser/

He is listed as the music engineer on the BFP website. His name is Track Adams.
Sample track: http://dl.mp3lizard.com/remisser/humancancer.mp3
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/755

But most of the music in the game was taken from other places...and the version of that remix in the game is horrible, making me think they took it from somewhere else.
