In the end though, you cant blame 'em for being cheap fucks. Everyone will buy Dragonball Z. And the less money they spend, the more money it will make them.

It's the sad truth.... which is why I feel like crap wanting to buy these but the temptation is too much. If it where not for the widescreen I would say this was the best North American release to date. :( :x I mean why? WHHHHHHY!? KHAAAAAAN!!!!!

P.S. Yeah I know it's a dated, cliche Trek reference. Eat my shorts... :P

I'm fine with not buying 'em (until they're out, and I hear anything decent anyways). I say the more we stick it to FUNi, the better... but that's not going to stop the 12 year old with an extra 30 - 50 bucks... which is the majority of the fanbase sadly...

Like VegettoEX says, anything can be purchased at the right price. I'm getting this thing for 25 bucks. There is nothing to lose. The fact that I am getting a Japanese BGM/English Dub is enough for me to spend this money.

Holy shit... 20 bucks...

That's extremely tempting, no matter how much FUNi sucks with their widescreen jazz

If it gets any cheaper I don't think I'll hesitate to buy it  but I still want to wait for reviews and whatnot.

Whoa that's cheap! Am I hallucinating? *asks the leprechaun on his shoulder* Is the DVD price for real !?

(A Real)Leprechaun: "Well laddie I'm a mythical Irish stereotype that's five inches tall so I wouldn't know. Though I can assure you your not crazy."

Yeah.... if I was actually insane I would want everything in widescreen!

In all seriousness...

(A Real) Leprechaun: "I was being serious..."

Quiet you! Now seriously um.... are those up do date prices on CD Universe!? I mean that's great but I don't see prices like that anywhere else and some distributors have the old price listed.

No, it's the most logical and crucial of all things to bitch over.

That "Everyone will buy Dragonball Z" anyway just makes the widescreen issue even worse. If we were talking about an obscure show that may not sell well, then I could kinda understand being cheap about it. But we're talking about a set that will make millions, no matter what. Funimation could've spent millions on a proper(or at least better) restoration, jack up the price to $100, and they would still make millions. Being "cheap" in this case is just bullshit.

I guess if we want a proper US licensed Dragonball Z we'll have to wait for the re-re-re-re-re-release (or something along those lines).

"The way it was intended to be seen in the original 4:3 format with original Japanese BGM in the dub!"

"Oh yeah... by the way, we decided to invert the colors to make it super extra special badass cool cats mad!"

Well... don't expect that re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release anytime in the next decade or so...

In that statement from Madman, they said that it was mastered in 1080p, and then mastered down to 480p for a DVD release... so in 5 or so years... they have that 1080p master for a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD release... and it will be widescreen...

If Corey were truly anal retentive, then he'd have word-for-word scripts ripped from Daimao's translation for each of his DBZ/GT episodes sitting at his coffee table. And I know he doesn't do that. Heck, while we may have our differences on things (and trust me, we do), he and I don't feel the need to resort to insulting each other like high-school kids. We discuss it like rational adults, being as fair as our own points of view think we're being. Though how he has his girlfriend watching it unsubbed, that's a mystery onto itself. :P

Kinda like how we're nigh opposites on the whole anime/manga thing and yet get along better than most members on this entire board? The mysteries of life...

Exactly! We can be defensive and offensive, but we shouldn't make ourselves look like whining little bitches in the process. We gotta discuss our differences with fairness. And if I should happen to beat one of ya' in a Budokai 3 duel at a convention sometime, that shouldn't keep us from being rational either. >.>;;

Well, it seems like FUNi is giving us a little bit more info on the sets. On their DBZ site under their spotlights section is a link to pre-ordering the set. The picture shown there shows the 6 discs in the set, which look like they're gonna stay consistent with the orange color scheme.

The trailer for the set has also been "updated" with the Feb. 6 release date and box art at the end of it. But what's strange is that the site's also listed the set for a Jan. 10 release.

The site actually says 1/10/2007 ... That's 2 days ago.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
