Piccolo vs 17

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Piccolo vs 17

Post by omaro34 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 6:00 pm

I've always been curious to know how this fight would have ended if nobody intervened.

I've heard both sides of the coin. When both fighters are at their peak they are relatively the same in terms of battle strength. But the main thing that goes in favor of 17 was that his energy was limitless, and could go on forever, which is scary if you think about it.

In Piccolo's defense, his techniques and strategy in that fight was spectacular. Even though it didn't work, the Hellzone Grenade was a brilliant attack. With Kami's influence, perhaps Piccolo would have thought of another alternative before he completely ran out of energy.

This fight was hands down one of the best fights in DBZ. I've said this before, most fights in the series particularly DBZ had fights where one fighter completely outclassed the other. This fight was exciting because of the fact that these two were so close in power, and they were trading blows hard.

If Cell, 16, nor 18 never intervened in this fight, who do you think would have ultimately won?

As much as it hurts saying this, I think the fight would go to 17. His limitless energy would be the deciding factor. However, the Piccolo fan in me just can't let that happen, so, basing everything on the fact that 17 ran away from Piccolo's Light Grenade when Cell intervened, I will go on and say that if it came to that and Piccolo managed to land that on 17, the fight would have been over then and there.

I think Piccolo would have taken it using the blast he used against Cell. In hand-to-hand combat, he'd lose due to stamina. It's the sort of fight where Piccolo would have had to strategize a lot, but I think he would have pulled it off.

That said, he'd later get one-shotted by 18. Hell, she might have intervened during the match if she noticed 17 about to be killed.

#17 had enough sense to abandon ground from just seeing Piccolo's Ki attack directed at Cell, it's unlikely it would've been successful if used against him as well. Piccolo is at too much of a disadvantage as the fight goes on, and I honestly can't think of any trick he can pull out his sleeve that would work. He had already lost the element of surprise and gained #17's respect, so he wouldn't have taken him lightly at that point.

#17 would have definitely won the fight in the long haul. #17's infinite stamina gave him the permanent edge and there no way Piccolo could have countered that. Hell, even before Cell arrived, Piccolo was starting to run out steam.

17 doesn't get out of breath or get tired but I feel like Piccolos attack up to that point had been damaging him in some vague way, like bruising and shit.

People put too much stock in #17 being an arrogant douche, taunting Piccolo trynna psyche him out with that comment.

It's pretty clear that attack that #17 was scared of that he barely dodged would have hit him if it was actually aimed at him in the first place.

People are underrating Piccolo just like they do the humans, saying he is only semi-cell after the rosat and that.

Personally, I also thought that Piccolo could have won that fight simply due to that last attack against Cell that I believe would've destroyed 17.

I think piccolo would have won. Reasons:
- He had a lot of tricks in the bag, like he had hellzone grenade.
- The attack used on cell was huge, and could've killed #17
- Piccolo might have not been using his full power. He knew that it will put him at a disadvantage as seen in vegeta vs 18 due to stamina issues. He was the one to figure that out. So, he must have kept some reserves for himself, and he had to take on 18 afterwards, so he couldn't go all out in the beginning.

this is the way i see it. Piccolo was sort of feeling out the fight, probably trying to find a weakness in 17 without exploiting too much of his power, so he would face 18 and 16 afterwards. But when Cell came he just dropped all pretenses and used everything he had on Cell.

As for 17, his fight with Piccolo and Cell shows us he had limitless power, but not stamina. He was exhausted after a few hits from cell. So he could win a beam blast, or outfight Piccolo if the battle progressed too long, but a few strong enough attacks could put him down for the count

But i wish Piccolo took a less direct route, such as trick them into splitting up and fight them one by one. He was very lucky the Androids didnt decide to just bum rush him then and there. He would have lasted, but not too long

Basically this. The fight was even, and #17 still had energy reserves, oh and a bomb inside him.
