Movie characters you wish were canon
Movie characters you wish were canon
1. Paikuhan ~ By far most mysterious & yet likable OtherWorld/Anoyoichi fighter. I'd rank him as Piccolo-tier in terms of smartness/skills.
2. Super Janemba ~ Despite being a Super Buu (Base) derivative, this guy was MF'kin beast in terms of :
A. Power (Overpowered Super Saiyan 3, by far most durable & agile form of Goku)
B. Techniques (Reality Warp, Sword Materialization, Elongative Body/Physique. Enuf said)
C. Mind-set (His MF'kin movesets are backed by his childish, yet wild & unstoppable destructive nature similar to guys as Kid Buu, Broly & SPC to an extent)
To great of a character to be missed.
Besides, DBZ series has time & again shown its tendency to turn even the deadlist, blood-thirsty foe into greatest Zetto Senshi ally as Tienshinhan Piccolo, Vegeta & Good Buu.
Super Janemba could very well fit imo
3. Broly ~ A character with more-depth than he's often credited. His limited backstory (barely 10 minutes) with contrived plot points (wants to kill Kakarot cuz he made Broly cry. Really?!) & his mysterious/exclusive Legendary Super Saiyan state & the vast "what-if" factor he brings to the table:
A. What-if Broly trained? Would there be "superior" states to his already maniacal LSSJ form?
B. What is Broly's max potential? He had BP of 10,000 as mere child. So What-If he receives Potential-Unlock as Gohan?
Just like Super Janemba, Broly has great screen-presence & proper utilization of his character would change the overall general misconception if him being just a Hulking Monster
Thoughts?

Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
None of the characters in any of the media are canon, as Dragon Ball has no canon.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
I already consider Cooler, Broly, Garlic Jr, Bojack, and Movie 13's villain canon.
Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
None of them. I guess Janemba would be cool, but I can't see him being more than a movie character. The movie villains aren't that interesting honestly. Beerus doesn't count since he's already in the TV series and is "canon."

Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
Bojack, though an incredibly lame and forgettable villain might've fit okay if reworked into the actual story. The only problem I see with doing that would be the redundancy of having another tournament right after in the Buu arc.

Most of them are very one note, but if I could, I'd pick Janemba purely because his powers and abilities are so unorthodox and unique.

Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
If we're talking about design and concept alone, then Broly, Cooler, Janemba, and Bojack would be absolutely superb if re-envisioned, especially my Fatty J.
If you mean based on exactly what we got in the movies (i.e. personalities, backstories, and motives), none. lol. Pikkon is the only filler character I wish was canon (as long as we pretend the scene he beat up Cell in never happened). He's a better Piccolo, who changed into an unbelievably lame character after the Cell Games. It's like everyone Gohan influences catches his disease. Good thing Goku neglected him.

Character wise, Hiru was "giant walking event" while Tapion was Adult version of Supreme Kai

Paikuhan/other world characters - No doubt about that! not only did i enjoy every second of the OtherWorld Tournament saga in Z, but eventho his role was kind of minor in The Rebirth of Fusion movie. He was still a badass/intresting character. It was also intresting how that went more in-depth within the Other World.
Cooler - I freaking love Cooler, being the laid back older brother of the cruel/evil Freeza. I believe they couldve worked his character into an insane Arc, if he were to be canon. There is much to do with him in my opinion!

You haven't figured it out yet? I'm the Saiyan who came all the way from Earth for the sole purpose of beating you. I am the warrior you've heard of in legends, pure of heart and awakened by fury. That's what I am. I AM THE SUPER SAIYAN, SON GOKU!

Cooler and Janemba
Cooler is a character that is a lot cooler then Frieza. He has honor and nobility, he has good character. If he were a good guy, he would make a good anti hero.
I like Janemba's design and his techniques (plus he uses a sword!!) including the concept of Janemba; a being created by the accumulation of the souls of Hell or something like that.

Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
Most of them for sure!
* Tullece absolutely, could do without his crew though
* Coola and his Squadron, but could do without the Big Gete Star
* 13, 14, and 15
* Bojack is de facto canon as it is
* Tapion and Minoshia
* Gogeta!! SS1 and 4. For sure the best one
* Janemba
I keep going back and forth on the other guys. Lord Slug is meh. Garlic Jr's filler could possibly count as canon. I always prefered Ginger, Nikki, and Sansho to the Spice Boys though. Wheelo is an awful design, but I would just love to be canon Muten Roshi kicking ass. Broli I'm not gonna touch. Paikuhan and the Other World fighters are cool, but I can do without. GT I already consider canon. DB movies, I could do without Gurumes, but Lucifer I could see fitting in potentially just before the 21st TB.

Cooler, hands down. I love his design, personality and fights. I awlays thought he did a good job of presenting himself as his tag line. Frieza's older brother, I enjoyed how he would excel in other things enough to make him his own character, while also sharing the traits that seem universal among his family. I think overall he's one of the better movie villains.
And I mean the first movie Cooler, not the sequel...

Gogeta.
Tapion and Minoshia from Wrath of the Dragon.
All villains from Coola's Revenge, Super Android 13, Bojack Unbound, and Janemba from Fusion Reborn.
Janemba powers are too unique and cool to belong to a movie only villain.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
Being completely serious, Turles/Tullece. I feel like he gets a pretty bad rap just for looking like Goku.
I'd say Garlic Jr. as well, though we saw what happened when they tried to make an anime arc out of him. It pretty much fell completely flat next to his film appearance.

Super Saiyan Blue is not a creative color.
DBZ Movie 3 told a stronger and more believable "Evil Goku" story in 60 minutes than Dragon Ball Super has in 20 episodes. And it did it with better visuals and score.

The manga is canon and the movies have nothing to do with it.RandomGuy96 wrote:None of the characters in any of the media are canon, as Dragon Ball has no canon.
Anyway, they're all pretty boring and just copies.
I guess, Janenba and Tapion.

Re: Movie characters you wish were canon
Explain in a sentence or two what it means for a story to not have a canon? To say it has none makes zero sense.None of the characters in any of the media are canon, as Dragon Ball has no canon.
I think it's easily arguable that either manga is sole canon, or the manga has a canon and the anime adaptation has its own canon.
Characters I wish were canon? Garlic, Jr. and Coola.
