I honestly thought the Trunks special would be higher than the Bardock one for you guys, definitely surprised to see that not end up being the case.

Not surprised in the least that both are in the top five though. Those two specials are definitely the kind of thing I have in mind when I advocate for us to get yearly character-based specials that delve into character back history. I'd absolutely love to get more like them.

A lot of fans seem to love History of Trunks for being so dark. I think fans seem to like the anime version more then the manga for having Trunks going SSj for seeing Gohan die instead having him already becoming SSj.

So History of Trunks is #4 and Bardock is hinted at being #3, so this means M2 and BoG are #1 and #2. Will M2 really be number 1?

DBZ Movie 2 was a movie that I used to hate and I like it much more. I do think it's underrated and Dr. Uiro is a well made villain. He has a neat design, he is a original villain that is not a rehash of other characters. He also has a good motivation too.

I don't really think that GT soundtrack (used in DB: Path to Power) is horrible. Akihito Tokunaga is a good composer IMO.

And RoF above Movie 9 and 13? I know It's just their list, but... Well, I agree with they placing Movie 12 above RoF anyway :D

And I don't think Dead Zone was that good, because I hated Garlic Jr. Arc in the anime and probably I'm mixing things, need to review that movie one day, maybe I change my opinion about it.

Also, FoolsGil... You got a interesting new avatar, mate

Definitely prefer the anime version more, and that's a pretty good reason as to why. Overall though, the special is just far more fleshed out. The manga special chapter is just sort of...there. It's a thing that exists. I read when I read the manga. But that's about it.

...Honestly, and I know I'm gonna get some flack for this, but I'd put the special chapter kind of beside Minus in terms of 'just being there, not really doing much for me' honestly. Even Minus kinda sorta expands (or tries to) the world a bit more than the Trunks chapter did...though whether one considers that a good thing, given the ways it chose to do so, is debatable, and has been many times already, obviously.

Yeah, HOT was one of the best Specials/Movies in general, the story is dark it has tension and it is pretty emotional. I think BTFOG is slightly superior

It feels like everyone has started to like the Bardock special even more after Dragonball Minus.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

Well it somewhat helps that Minus doesn't conflict with the special...mostly. Really the only conflict is Goku's age and when he's sent to Earth...at least that's how I see it. I did love how Vegeta in Minus saved himself and Raditz by being a jackass and ignoring Freeza's orders.

I never found Bardock particularly compelling and have only seen History of Trunks dubbed, so I cannot judge it fairly. World's Strongest vs Battle of Gods is just about how my own rankings would go. There are a couple of points that World's Strongest does have over Battle of Gods, but I am certainly interested in how TFS will position the placements.

Agreed that the Bardock special is more entertaining than the Trunks special.

Seeing World's Strongest at #1 would leave me with a sour taste in my mouth. That sounds kind of stupid to say as it's a list formed on the opinions of 3 people (with opinions I respect) who can think whatever they want, but it seems like it'd be more of a statement than anything else. I honestly see that movie as just about equal to Dead Zone in almost every way, despite the fact that I prefer dead Zone. I think it'd be fair to say that the #1 DBZ movie deserves the #1 movie villain, and Uiro is just way too lack-luster. His voice is cool, the fact that Bulma is aware of him is cool, and the fact that Toriyama designed him is cool...but he just doesn't leave much of an impact. He embodied traits of Ginyu ("I want that body!") and Dr. Gero (creates artificial warriors, has incomplete data, Bulma is aware of him) before these characters appeared in the series, but he is just overshadowed by them in retrospect. Combine that with some questionable plot details*, and you still have a great movie...but clearly not the best.

*I'm not reaching here, these are things that stood out to me when I watched the movie earlier this month.
-Oolong travels half-way across the world and risks his/Gohan's to make a wish he already had granted.
-Uiro wants the body of the strongest human, but has a machine that is comparably strong. If he wants a human body to be able to feel/do human things, why does it matter how strong they are? He could just make a version of that machine that is piloted. I understand Kame-sennin is strong, but he's also old, which limits him sexually (assuming that's one of his fleshy desires) and gives the body a shorter lifespan (they never mention his age as being a factor, just that he is the strongest).
-The brain is gigantic...how is it supposed to fit in a human body?
-The mountains are played up too much. Piccolo can destroy the moon but not a sheet of ice?
-This is a nitpick, but they didn't bother to give Goku a cold-weather outfit. Somehow he only notices that it's cold when he hits the ground, but it has already been established in Dragon Ball that he gets cold just like anyone else.

Aw, crap. You beat me to it. You're not going to get any flack from me because, honestly, I thought the exact same thing as soon as I read Minus. In fact, reading Minus made me like Trunks the Story less because I realized that Toriyama just can't tell a freaking story in things like this. All he can do is throw a bunch of plot elements onto a page and be all, "That's what you wanted to see, right? You wanted to see the future, right? You wanted to see where Trunks came from, right? You wanted to see the past, right? You wanted to see where Goku came from, right?" And that's all there is to it from either of those things.

If The World's Strongest is indeed no. 1, then they better have some damn good reasoning behind it because I still don't see what is so appealing about this movie outside of its action sequences.

I created my own DBcember list back in early December just so I could compare and contrast my list with TFS. I know it's 3 different guys, but I am still surprised at how similiar our lists were (save for a few MAJOR switches). That's kind of why I would like to see the 3 individual lists, just to see who I have the most in common with and who I have the most differences with. Maybe Kaiser can tell me?

My List------------------------------------- TFS List:
1. Battle of Gods --------------------------1.2.3. Battle of Gods
2. Bardock TV Special --------------------1.2.3 World's Strongest
3. Worlds Strongest -----------------------3. Bardock TV Special
4. Yo! Son Goku Friends Return ---------4. Trunks TV Special

7. Trunks TV Special ---------------------7. Ressurection F

That's kind of the reason why I'm surprised at the knee-jerk reaction at Minus, to be honest. I mean, I can understand if someone spent $15 on ROF at the theaters, disliked it, and felt ripped off. But Minus? It was just a sidestory that came with the Jaco manga. I found it harmless.

It's the contents that are the problem. Everything about it is a spit in the face of Goku's original origin story, Bardock's original character, and colors Goku's existence in a different, less satisfying (to me) color. Gaffer talked about it at length in the second to latest Dragon Ball Dissection video.

Dude, legit? I'm looking to start up a DragonFacts series where I cover obscure (to the fanbase at large) facts about the series, and I'm planning on having a couple different people provide voices. I'd love for you to come on sometime and provide a voice; your DragonBall Dissection videos are a godsend to me.
