Thats not really the case with Dragon Ball Super. Look at episode live vs dvr ratings in the first page, that formula is only applicable for only a couple episodes. Most of the episodes have random dvr and live combo.

http://www.tvguide.or.jp/ranking/timerr ... index.html

DVR Rating: 30th of November until 6th of December
1st: Lupin III - 100.0
2nd: Doraemon - 74.1 (Up 1)
3rd: One Piece - 72.9 (Up 1)
4th: One Punch Man - 59.2 (Up 2)
5th: Detective Conan - 59.0
6th: Mobile Suit Gundam - 58.0 (Up 1)
7th: Gintama - 54.5 (Up 2)
8th: Dragon Ball Super(Episode 22) - 47.6
9th: Kamen Rider - 38.9 (Up 1)
10th: Soreike! Anpanman - 37.5 (New entry)

Yokai Watch disappeared, did it no air this week? Almost every show jumped a place because of it, Super didn't. This was a bad week, we lost around 7 percentage points and were overcome by Gintama.

One Punch Man continues it's rise to the top, 4th place! It won't go any higher since the top 3 is untouchable and Yokai Watch wasn't around. It's were I hope Super gets, once Universe 6 begins. Which can't come soon enough!

Although I don't doubt for a second that Super can remain on TV for 100 more episodes, it's still a bit worrying that the ratings have decreased so much.

100 episodes in total would be perfect, just like that rumour.

For 2 arcs yeah, but if it's just 1 Gods arc we're currently in, that would be one hell of a DBZ-filler-filled pacing. Kai'fied Buu saga at 60+ episodes still feels too long and dragging. 50 episodes seems ideal for 1 major DB saga, then moving onto new stuff hopefully

How ironic would it be if Super ends around 64 episodes just like GT. That would be the second series in a row that bombed after Z ended.

I can't be sure , but I think someone once mentioned that GT's ratings weren't all that bad, and that in the end it wasn't cancelled due to bad reception. Am I wrong?

And are these ratings really that bad ? It's still top 10.

I've asked this before, but I'm curious about the general reaction to Super from the Japanese fandom. I only heard about episode 5 criticism, but nothing else.

Universe 6 arc ratings is what will probably determine Super successful or not. It's pretty obvious they just half assed the BoG and "F" arcs so I don't think they're too concerned about ratings from those arcs. And if merchandise sales are going well then ratings probably won't matter or be least of their concern in the end.

They're absolutely good ratings, it's the steep and quick dip they took and the rather substantial gap between them and programming block co-feature One Piece that's worth paying attention to.

In general, though, ratings matter very little in today's world. Super exists to push Dragonball merchandise, and it's the extent it does this that matters to Toei, not the ratings. They obviously WANT people to watch live and catch all the commercials for Dragonball toys and the like that air during the ad breaks rather than record the show and fast-forward through that stuff, but it's ultimately whether or not it moves merchandise that matters to them.
The original Kai was one of the 5 most watched cartoons on Japanese TV nearly every week, but was considered a failure and eventually canceled because the merchandise wasn't selling.
Toriko, likewise, attracted viewers, but as those viewers weren't actually buying Toriko merchandise, the show got canceled as another failure.
Meanwhile, Naruto got about a fifth of the viewers Toriko did, but was considered a successful show and kept on air because people were buying Naruto toys, no matter how rarely you see Naruto on these top 10 lists.

Yeah, there was a break due to various double-length Christmas specials they're doing.

Super is doing well merchandise right now, so Super will be fine. GT didn't live up to DBZ, so the ratings and merchandise at the time was not very good.

I have to tell you that no, Super isn't bombing. Unless you believe the likes of Naruto, Pokemon, Fairy Tail or Yokai Watch, that have inferior ratings, are bombing.

To put it simply, Super hasn't left the top 10 one single time since the first episode. GT was rarely in the top 10 back then.

So Super is doing considerably better, and i'm not even talking about other factors (licensing, sales).

If Super gets canceled (which I doubt it will), it will likely because of poor toy sales and not ratings. With Kyoryuger, Toei said that ratings are a afterthought to them. I think that's the same for all of their action shows market to kids. I think Super is doing well enough to last up to 2017.

Latest live ratings
Sazae-San: 13.1
Chibi Maruko-chan: 10.4
Saturday Premium Piece Adventure of Ne Blanc Deer: 8.4
one piece: 8.4
Dragon Ball super(episode 24): 6.2
Kindaichi Case Files R: 5.8
Animation Curious George : 4.3
Animation Shaun the Sheep : 3.6
Folktales from Japan: 3.6
Go! Princess Pretty: 3.4
We are in the top 5 this week, I was getting worried after the last episode's rating. It looks like super wont fall from the top 10 no matter what.

Ohh, what a boost.
SSB Powa! People were interested in the final battle.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

It was nothing to worry about. Episode 12 got the same rating from last week (4.7), and it rised immediately the week after, too. Slow weeks happen, but the show is pretty established already.

Btw, "Saturday Premium Piece Adventure of Ne Blanc Deer" is actually the One Piece tv special.

Damn, that is a pretty big jump from last week. Looks like the audience are looking forward to seeing their new blue overlords.

Oh and before I forget, next week's rating will be delayed by a week. So we won't see rating of episode 25 till the 6th or 5th of January depending on which side of the world you live in.
