Android 17

I really hope that he shows up in Super, even if it's just for one episode....i just really want him to do something seeing as he's one of my favorite characters XD

So do you guys think he'll show up in Super or do you think they forgot the fact that he still exists(He's a park ranger or something now right?) maybe they do remember him but don't want to use him and end up seeming like they copied GT.

Dragon Ball has always had a lousy track record with keeping supporting characters relevant, or even present. I don't expect Super to buck the trend.

I wouldn't even call 17 a "supporting character" because that implies he stuck around like Roshi, Yamcha, Oolong, etx.

17 flat out disappeared from the anime entirely after his role as a villain ended. He only gets one brief cameo at the end of the Buu saga. We didn't even see him come back to life at the end of the Cell saga when the dragon revived anyone, nor did we ever see 18 interact with him again (not counting GT)

It actually is given that Piccolo and Majin Boo are set play significant supporting roles in the very least in the Champa arc. Not mention, Krillin, Tien, Gohan, Piccolo, Roshi and even Jaco played significant roles in Resurrection F.

I'd certainly like to see #17 return, but I wouldn't bank on it. Toei give zero fucks about anyone who isn't Goku and Vegeta, but Toriyama may throw him a bone in the future.

After the conflict with Cell, Android 17 became a park ranger in the wildlife preserve area of a gigantic royal nature park. He also apparently married a zoologist with a couple kids, so he is living the family life.

17 became another Launch; another character forgotten about.

Post Cell games Android 17 would have made for a really interesting character but part of me wants to keep him shrouded in mystery, kinda like a Boba Fett. There's just so many different possibilities for his story to play out and because of that he's one of the few remaining characters I find interesting in the DB universe. Even if I was given the option I don't think I'd want Toriyama or Toei to flesh him out at this point. I honestly think they'd probably butcher his character and ruin the his appeal for me.

The way I personally envisioned him would be a humbled 17 struggling to find new purpose in life. Not only had he previously been battered by Cell but he was also now vastly outmatched by the remaining Saiyans. To top it off, Goku was dead leaving him without any objective to complete, you could also throw in the fact that he and 18 probably wouldn't be able to find each other (at least for a very long time) due to their inability to detect Ki and the fact that they themselves couldn't be sensed by anyone. After discovering that he's alone, lacking in power and with no clear purpose I could see him going down a dark path that leads to a suicide attempt but, after he discovers his bomb has been removed, he decides to go on an adventure instead and meet new characters along the way. I think it could be an awesome little self contained story (if done right) and because of the time skip you could still plausibly have him end up as a park ranger or whatever.

Yes, this could actually work. I can imagine it ending with 17 meeting 18 again and for whatever reason they go on their separate paths.

He's got potential to be the new Yajirobe; just a guy who gets dragged into scenarios he would do anything to not be in. But then, I would prefer the actual Yajirobe if such a character was needed. I'm ultimately cool with little tidbits like the park ranger stuff.

I doubt he will return. He became a good guy and his a family of his own now. #17 and #18 was mainly made in the series just to be absorb by Cell and #17 stop being relevant after that. If he was going to show up then it will probably be for a party episode or something similar when he got a invite to join. Everyone freaks out to see #17 again and Goku acts like that he is still a bad guy at first.

Was there any proof that Toriyama really forgot about Launch ? I always thought it was just another BS rumor that was spread by YT and FB community.

I don't think so. Originally he was supposed to draw Lunch for the cameo, that ultimately went to #17, when Goku asked for energy to his Genkidama, but he thought nobody would remember her, so he went with a more recent character.

He said he completely forgot about her "at some point", when Raditz appeared IIRC. Fans just like to exaggerate. I'm not sure if he still remembers her now, though.

When Toriyama explained that 17 was working full time and living a happy life, I kind of figured he wasn't going to show up again. I'd enjoy seeing him pop up again in some regard. 18 has been extremely underutilized as well since joining the Z Fighters. She deserves a comeback even more than her brother.
