looking how things are done now I'm happy we got an extra Dragon Ball with the old method of animating
it's just a shame Toriyama wasn't involved with the story back then.

It being acknowledged it would probably be best for it. Something like a some GT DLC for a game or it rearing on TV. Something big enough to say "Happy 20th GT" but not big enough to say "HEY! Remember GT!? That was awesome right!?"

Let's be honest though, Toriyama "left" a boiling hot potato in Uub's character for fans and anyone to deal with in any potential continuation (or even just as an ending). Not intentionally of course but still. A new character introduced at the last second with next to no background, time to develop and get used to yet being instantly positioned within the plot as the new successor of the main hero? I for one don't blame Toei for not really having a clue what to do with this 'baggage'.

Add two things:

1. Re-animate the series from scratch, but unlikely.
2. The series already recycled some stories from DB/DBZ but basically a rehash from the Freeza arc (Bebi), Cell arc (Super #17); and Buu arc (Evil Dragons). I don't get why they did this since GT ain't an original story.

FUNi would fuck it up some way and Toei wouldn't see any profit in it. But I wouldn't mind GT getting a Blu-Ray release.

The first DB TV series and DBZ have a better chance on being released on Blu-Ray first from Toei before GT. The first Dragon Ball show has a lot of nostalgia from older anime fans in their 30's and 40's. DBZ is the biggest brand name out of the four shows. The 30th anniversary of DB is next year, so we might get Blu-Ray releases from Toei soon.

I don't think Toei's going to do much of anything for the 20th anniversary... Their main focus is Super right now, and I don't think that they're going to give GT any attention at all, to be honest. That being said, it would be really, really, really nice to get Tokunaga's complete score released, but I'm definitely not holding my breath... :(

Maybe they could do a OVA based around SSj4 Gohan and SSj4 Broli to promote Heroes, but I still think that's unlikely.

I actually wasn't referring to Funi (since I don't trust them at all) but rather TOEI itself, something like a "Dragon Box GT Blu Ray " kind of thing.

A Funi Blu Ray release actually seems pretty likely since they are done with the Z Blu Ray's and GT was the next step they took after they released the Orange Bricks.

They should show Goku freeing Piccolo from hell and fulfilling his promise.

Show the earth at TRUE peace now that the final threat is gone. Nice little OVA. And make it canon to GT, I Don't consider a heroe's legacy as part of the anime canon with GT. It was inconsistent to a ridiculous standard.

I love DB/DBZ/DBGT/DBZK/DBS (If I didn't why would I be here? XD)

The reason it's like this is because when it comes to Dragon Ball and a couple of their other properties, Toei believes that rehashes are good because if the original worked so well, then they'd be playing it safe by making something with a similar formula. Look at all the movies. This is why the Black-Star Dragon Ball saga resembles the original Dragon Ball, the Baby saga brings back Saiyan-Freeza vibes by revisiting the Saiyan conflict, Super 17 and it's Androids, and dark magic in regards to the Evil Dragons.

A bluray of the series would be nice and I would certainly buy it if Toei and Funi knew how to do a bluray of Dragonball these days. Between Toei keeping Buu Kai in 16:9 and Funimation's Bluray season aspect ratio fiasco, I dont really trust either company to handle it competently.

I'm not expecting a whole lot for the anniversary aside from a hopeful release of the SSJ4 Goku figuart. If he sells well enough then perhaps Vegeta and Gogeta can follow suit.

In honor of the 20th year of GT, let us kanzenshuu members be reminded of when Toei themselves showed us their process for actually creating the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3ClZGitRIA

Potato quality but wow, it's a great find. The end days of 'analog' process of creating animation :(

Question to experts: in frames where the only difference was, for example, lip movemenet, where the animators simply drawing full body without mouth, then auto-copying that slide multiple times and drawing diferent mouths on each? Kinda can't imagine them drawing each by hand if the only different part was suppoused to be lip movement. What equipement was used to duplicate slides? Super expensive color printers?

Looking less and less likely, but I'm still holding out for some acknowledgment of GT's 20th anniversary. It would be great to see a GT-centric game come out at the end of the year. I don't care if it's a fighter, side-scroller, beat-em-up, RPG, card-battler, whatever. Maybe an appearance by a formerly GT exclusive character in Super? Even as a cameo? I love that since the new Super series, GT has been given more serious attention by fans, when once upon a time it was reduced to ridicule.

That was only during the worst points of the retellings, now its back to being "that one garbage non-canon Dragon Ball show".

GT was riding on the success from DBZ and didn't live up to it. GT only had 64 episodes compare to the longer run that DB and DBZ had. After GT ended, we went with no DB animation until 2008 expect for the video game intros. I think Toei doing some acknowledgment of GT's 20th anniversary will be like Warner Bros did some acknowledgement of the Joel Schumacher Batman films. Why would they want to remember the dark time of Dragon Ball? Sure GT was nowhere as bad as Batman & Robin (Batman Forever is debatable), but GT did left a lot of fans disappointed and lack the feel from Toryiama's work (I still view GT as a longer version of the Toei DB movies. Both didn't had Toriyama writing the story for them after all).

If they wanted people to forget about it then they wouldn't be using it in video games and merchandise.

They also gave it the same premium quality dragon box release that they gave the other 2 so they're clearly not ashamed of it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
